  Can anyone suggest how I can quieten the ancilliary drive belt on my diesel A4 please. It has gradually got more and more squeaky over the last few months, and low it squeaks even after a significant drive, except for just first thin on a damp morning. It is not slipping, it is just making a rubbery squeak at tickover.

  My car is making a squeeling type noise when I am driving. It is there constantly whilst driving but stops when I apply the brake or turn the steering wheel to the left.   I am now driving C5 2.0 HDI the annoying feature is that after 20 minutes of listening to the radio without the engine running it shuts down to "economy mode".The only way to get the radio or accesories to power up again is to start the engine,then you get 10 minutes of radio.This feature is so that you do not flatten the battery, fair enough but it is silly that you have to start the car each time to turn the radio back on.Does anny one know of a way around this feature as its driving me nuts. -- rustbucket (the original)

  hello, i have a ford focus 1.8 tdci 2003, it has a poor starting problem as in it takes a long time to start but once started drives fine i have fitted the following parts but these hav'nt sorted the problem parts fitted cam sensor and crank sensor E.G.R valve a local mechanic said it could be fuel pump, has anyone got any ideas i need some info asap please driving me nuts thanks in advance

  Have you any examples of stereotypical motorists? How can you identify them by the cars they drive and the way they drive them? Obvious examples are the teenage menace in an obscenely modified Saxo, and the testosterone-fuelled sales rep charging down the outside lane at X00mph in a boggo basic Vectra or such like.

  There is no sign of any broken wires in the boot. The windows drop down slightly as they should. When driving with the hood closed the hood warning light flashes on the dashboard but not every time I drive.

  Hi there Got a strange problem with my Focus. The car drives ok but after 5 mins of driving I get a whiring/buzzing sound which rises in pitch as the car accelerates. If i take my foot off the gas the sound goes. The sound's not especially loud but it shouldn't be there and it's got me worried.

  In our household we have 2 vehicles, a Picasso and a Berlingo. Our 17 year old has started driving lessons and our plan is to get rid of the Berlingo and buy a small car that he can learn to drive in and, when he's passed his test, have use of when I don't need it. Our requirements are - a low insurance group, the car should not feel basic(I'm used to some comfort) and we are looking to spend between £3000 & £5000.

  for no apparent reason while driving along the oil light will flash on about 4 or 5 times then engine will cut out. sometimes when driving the revs will suddenly drop then return to normal. i put it in for a service thinking the fuel filter or something may be dodgy. also had the plugs, oil filter, oil and air and fuel filter done in the service. i bought it 2 weeks ago.

  I have a Renault Clio 1.5 dci 2002. Today whilst driving down the M4 at a steady 70-75 with the car driving as normal, i suddenly felt a surge of power and heard a small bang,looked in my rear view mirrow and a large cloud of black smoke has been left behind me.

  It is there at idle, and it does increase with engine revs. I've moved it backwards and forwards on the drive just using Reverse and Drive with no additional input from accelerator, and it moves smoothly with no juddering. She hasn't driven it very much in the last 3 months, so that could be why this has developed.

  Hi all, I'm considering buying a mates 2004 A3 2.0 Tdi which has only done 65k. However, after he's been driving it for an hour or so it developes a slight misfire if it's in a higher gear than 2nd at low revs. Apart from this it's fine and drives very well. What I'm wondering is, could this be anything serious and expensive to fix like an injector or something?
