  I've done about 1400 miles in the A3 now, and all round its a very nice car, but the economy seems a little on the low side still, the only way to break 50mpg is to do less than 70mph at all times, whereas the Passat has no problem breaking 50mpg on a journey. Except the passat has the old 110 TDI and 5 Speed box, while the Audi is the new 2.0TDI. My brim-to-brim average is about 43mpg currently, wondering what any other figures are out there. That's a mix of town and distance driving, about 50/50. Chris

  Hello, I have an Audi A4 2.0 MultiTronic 2001(51). It seems to conume a lot of oil. I need to top it upto 900ml every 1500 miles. The handbook suggests that it is normal for the car to consume upto 0.5 litres every 1000km (625 miles).

  I had a good look at the Audi this morning (see earlier thread). This model (1991 Coupe 20V) has a single fuel pump submerged in the tank. Access is by unbolting the protective plate on top of the tank (under the boot carpet) and removing the fuel gauge sender unit.
