  • Renault - 03 2.2 Diesel Runs on own Oil 12 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I have just had a rather nasty surprise with my Espace 2.2 DCI. The Problem appears to be the engine running on ( ie screaming) its own oil. It ceased initially after a few seconds, then drove normally for approx 500 yards, to then happen again for a few moments then back to normal. Both these times the motor was under light load accelerating.
  • Daytime running lights - opinion. 5 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I eventually had to resort to the dipping mirror after having my eyeballs roasted for the umpteenth time by one of these idiots running up behind. I am now firmly of the opinion that these things are more trouble than they're worth.
  • Toyota Yaris (1999 - 2005) - 99 1.0 P0172 - Mixture too rich 21 Jul 2009 (Forum)
A few things did make me puzzle. with the engine running, the unplugging of the MAF sensor caused the engine to stop with fault P0110. But when the Lambda sensor was unplugged with the engine running - no fault occurred. Does this sensor only get noticed at certain running times?

  • Daewoo Nubira (1997 - 2003) - 98 1.6 Location of coolant temp sensor on 1.6 24 Sep 2008 (Forum)
When the car is running, all is fine. Careful use of clutch minimises the lurching but it catches me out regularly as it's the second car and I don't usually drive it. Strangely SWMBO doesn't see a problem.... As soon as the car has been running for a few minutes, all is fine.
  • Honda Civic Coupe/Citroen Xsara Coupe 4 Jan 2007 (Forum)
My sister is just about to sell her MG to downsize on running costs and improve security for her parking issues. Shes quite keen on the Puma, but due to the issues with short cold runs with the 1.7 model ( which is her primary driving ), she will only consider the 1.4/1.6 models which are quite hard to find compared to the 1.7.
  • Toyota Yaris - Diesel or petrol 6 May 2022 (Forum)
I would like to go for a larger engine say 1.5 to 1.7. I do approx 100 miles per week, usual split is 1 run of 60 miles plus lots of local runs of 2 to 3 miles each. Is this use better suited to a diesel or petrol car?

  • Car costs 26 Aug 2004 (Forum)
As most people will know diesels cost about £1000-1500 more to buy new over the simular petrol petrol models. If you keep the car along time it shoule work out cheaper in the long run. However if you do an average mileage of about 10-12000 per year and look a three (3) year running cost, how do you work the costs out?????

  • Squeeky Laguna 17 Jun 2003 (Forum)
1999 'T' Laguna 1.8 RTE Problem being is that when the engine is running there seems to be a squeel similar to a chirping bird coming from the engine. When the car revs faster, the louder and quicker the squeel which leads me to that it is either a belt problem or a bearing that has run dry.
  • Thermostat: regulator or on/off valve? 2 Jan 2003 (Forum)
If the thermostat is acting purely as a coolant on/off valve for cold startup then surely another element must be providing regulation at normal running temperature?
