Jaguar S-Type - Jaguar S Type R Engine failure at 29,000 miles 31 Jul 2010 (Forum)
In March 2009, I purchased a Jaguar Approved Used Car from Guy Salmon, Jaguar main dealer in Northampton. The car, a 4.2 S Type R, first registered in March 2004, had done 17,000 miles at purchase and has now covered just 29,000 miles. The car has been fully serviced by Jaguar main dealers throughout its life and was last serviced 2000 miles ago. -
Temporary Car - 18 year old 4 May 2004 (Forum)
Is it illegal to contact my own insurance company and asking them to cover me in my dad's car for a week? I suspect that the answer would be yes, as technically the car would be insured twice! Taking public transport is impossible, as no buses run to where I want to go (college) and no one can offer me a lift either as I live in the sticks. -

Replace the Civic CTDi 1.7 with what? 1 May 2018 (Forum)
My 2004 Civic needs to be replaced at 333,000 miles after 14 years of ownership. Great car and still going but has just been written off after an accident. What should I get next? I have a budget of around £8,000. I use this as a commuter car only, Monday to Friday. Covering 550 miles per week. -
New Infiniti Q30 1.6 SE - Alloy Wheels - Affect on Car Warranty 23 Sep 2015 (Forum)
I am interested in the above new model which comes with 'steel' wheels & wheel covers. Alloys are only available as part of the comprehensive technology 'City Black' upgrade at over £5000. Does the after sale private purchase of the 'correct' size/specification alloy wheels from an independent supplier affect the car manufacture's warranty?. -
Untaxed foreign cars - are they ever checked? 17 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I assume the ANPR system ignores foreign registered vehicles or that traffic cops assume these are visitors to these shores and thus covered by foreign insurance and don't need UK tax. I ask because a foreign plated car has parked outside a house near me for over 12 months, but shows no UK tax disc, which surely it ought to? This also makes me wonder whether it is one of the alleged million-plus uninsured vehicles on the road? -
Hyundai I20 - rear calliper problems 15 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I have had to replace both the rear callipers on my Hyundai I20 before the car was 2 years old. I live too far from the dealer to see if their warranty would cover it so paid out £400 for this. Doe anyone know if this is a problem with the MArque or have I just been unlucky. -
Help me choose 13 May 2011 (Forum)
My sister is looking for a first car (just passed). She's got £2500 which has to cover the insurance as well. She's almost 25 and has never owned a car before. She's a nervous driver, so it's got to be a piddling little Lego car type thing. -
Insurance for test-drive 21 Jan 2005 (Forum)
Not yet fully decided, but one matter that bothers me is insurance for test drives. I feel it quite unreasonable to expect anyone to buy a car without first driving it -- a ride as a passenger conveys little -- but I want the car fully insured for this. While a prospective purchaser would normally be able to drive my car on his own insurance (if he had any) it would be the minimum RTA cover only. -

sorry to start another thread up, just i think my other one had lost interest. i'm after users views the the new laguna. now according to HJ the recalls in car by car breakdown cover the main problems with the laguna....the electrics of course! is this the matter closed, or are owners still having serious problems and reliability issues? i have an idea because on my way to work this morning i saw a car broken down where i've never seen one before........guess what, it was a brand new laguna! -
SAAB 900 XS Auto 21 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Still looking for a used auto second car. I have spotted a 97R SAAB 900 2.0 XS auto. It's got 113k with a full SAAB SH. The asking price is £2995. Seems very reasonable and I guess this is because of the mileage. Will this car be troublesome at this kind of mileage (I note the breakdown states it has a chain as opposed to belt so that's OK) The car will cover about 5k a year in local trips with the odd motorway blast Opinions gratefully received -
Rear parcel shelf - is it a safety item? 1 Dec 2020 (Forum)
Just watching a car show, Motor Pickers' and the chap said the rear parcel shelf in a Volvo estate was also a safety item in an even of a crash, IE another car hits you in the back of your car, keeps occupants safer. -
Any - Insurance for Hire Cars 27 Jul 2020 (Forum)
We have a couple of holidays booked (well - you have to be optimistic, eh?!) in Crete, where I'll want to hire a car. That's not an experience I've had for a while and I would like to take out extra insurance to cover the astronomical damage excesses before travelling. Does anyone have experience with these policies, particularly their willingness to pay out? -

Electric Cars - You Can Not be Serious! 5 May 2014 (Forum)
