Ford Focus 1.8 petrol 03 reg - Faulty Ford Focus Dealer Issues 6 Aug 2013 (Forum)
They gave me a 3 month warranty against failure of parts on the car. I have driven the car about 700miles. On several occasions (windows down, radio off, quiet road) I thought I heard the noise again however I dismissed it/thought I must be imagining it because that exhaust had been fixed, right? Anyway I booked it in for cam belt, service and health check by a reputable garage.... -
hyundai ix35 - sat nav problems 26 Feb 2012 (Forum)
She could not complete instructions when approaching roundabouts, all i ever seemed to get was " bear left and then", and then nothing.............. it was getting rather annoying, so I called into the dealers to report the problem about 6 weeks ago, and never heard anything back from them. Then last week my whole media system just froze, nothing worked , no radio, no cd player, no sat nav, no reverse parking sensor, it just froze. So after booking my car in, and also telling them about the "bear left and then" issue, I was told that they had other customers with the same problem. -
Ford Fiesta MK2 - Can I charge my car battery with a smaller charger 10 Jan 2011 (Forum)
If not, I'm happy to build some kind of immobiliser switch to the battery so that I can turn disconnect it when not in use. There is no radio or engine code to worry about, and aside from the clock losing time there's really no problem disconnecting the battery every time. But it would be nice if there was no short circuit Either way, can I give my battery a bit of a charge using the little charger, or is it plain stupid? -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 01 1.8 Running very rough - electrical issue? 22 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I've bought HT leads but not yet fitted them due to only ever remembering mid journey. When it's really stuttering, it interferes with the radio, again leading me to believe it's an electrical fault or a short somewhere. Someone suggested it may be the ignition coil pack. I can get a new one of these for about £50 but I don't want to spend the money unless it's likely to help, plus I don't know how difficult the job is. -
Citroen C5 II (2008 - ) - C5 Impressions after four months. 3 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I have to use a cable to connect my Tom Tom Go to the aux sockets in the glove compartment to get the commands and stored MP3 audio files over the car's audio system, but this does not pause the car's radio when the GPS gives directions. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the car -
Ford Fusion (USA) - mini road test 14 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Spec: 3.0L 221HP V6 6 speed automatic gearbox Sports pack Climate control Cruise control etc. Microsoft Sync with Sirius Satellite Radio I think the Fusion is a USA specific car, but it's broadly equivalent in size to the Mondeo. Cabin is roomy and comfortable with enough cubbyholes and sufficient buttons to keep most people entertained. -
FIAT Grande Punto (2006 - 2009) - Impressions of 28 Oct 2007 (Forum)
If someone wants to steal your fuel and the cap is locked he will just put his tin under your fuel tank and bash a hole with a screw driver. Lockable caps are a waste of time. Same problem with the radio. I could get it to switch on but not to switch off. I spent 3 weeks with the volume at zero! Either it was broken or it was over complicated. Then the seal on the drivers door fell off and the grille became loose. -
The hypocrisy in road pricing 5 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I was fuming this morning whilst in the car listening to a debate on Radio Five Live speculating on the contents of Rod Eddington?s report on road pricing, I did not catch all of the show however the presenter, Mathew Bannister, did not help my blood pressure, he tended to defend the principals of road pricing when almost all phone-in callers were against it hence not presenting the neutral stance one expects from the BBC. -
Peugeot 406 display and audio prob. 29 Dec 2004 (Forum)
The actual lcd was faulty, so I bought one from ebay (of a V reg 406 glx estate) and installed it. Everything seemed fine- the stalk controls worked, as did the radio and tape. But when I select the (Standard boot) CD multi-changer, nothing - It wouldn't recognise it. So I exchanged it for another one (from a standard 406 coupe 2001). Installed it, and that seemed O.K., it recognises the cd changer, until I tried operating the stalk controls. -
A most reliable car 17 Dec 2002 (Forum)
It has never failed to start and run or do what it is required of it and I see it now shows 120,000 km. The cassette has packed up but the radio still works. There is no significant rot anywhere although the white paint has faded. The same was true of all the others: the 1980's one which looked like a copy of the Merc 190E is still a favorite with Manila taxi-drivers today and Lord knows what they must have survived to still be running. -
Range Rover 1989 3.6L EFI light 11 May 2002 (Forum)
Now: Last weekend my Sister visited and on a day of very dense fog was out in the Range Rover {The US Spec of 1989 is that of a Top of the line all options fitted Vogue I think but it does of course have Cats fitted and runs on unleaded (All we have been able to get over her for about 10 years now)} Well she left the fog lights on when she got home and yesterday when I went to use it I found the Battery stone dead I put it on a smart charger for 24 hours and this AM all was well (after I recoded the OEM radio Cassette) except that the EFI light is ON... car is running perfectly and I ran it by a friends place that does the Local equivalent of a MOT he checked all the numbers from the Dynamometer He had run for said (passed) test last month and if anything they were a touch better... -

Nissan Leaf - First impressions of 2.5k Leaf 13 Sep 2025 (Forum)
That was a ten minute job, and hopefully an easy fix. As mentioned, it’s the base model, so no screen, and a basic radio/CD player, but that’s fine with me. It’s still got air con and you can set the charging to start at a set time, and the car interior to pre-heat. It’s got keyless entry and start, and cloth seats (I don’t like leather seats!). -
VW Golf 1.4 Estate - First impressions - goodbye Civic hello Golf 23 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Its a little bit of wind but mainly road. The tyres are Michelin Energy which shouldn't be noisy. Maybe once I turn on the radio, get some gear in the boot and stop my new car obsessiveness it won't be an issue. Its just been serviced so I wont need to shell out for another year but that will be much more than the Honda which had unbelievably cheap main dealer service with free MoT and breakdown. -

Vauxhall Zafira A - Electrical gremlins or something else? 11 Sep 2017 (Forum)
It seemed - although I can't be certain - that it was most likely to occur just after some kind of bump or pothole. A couple of days later this escalated to losing the radio code overnight. At this point I thought it was probably battery and/or alternator. I had trouble starting a few times as well, although I did always get it going in the end. Things got worse and the other day I had the engine cut out entirely and all electrics stopped - dashboard went completely blank, lights out, couldn't put hazards on or anything. -
Corsa C (51 Plate) Easytronic - Vauxhall Corsa C Easytronic Losing Power/Gear 26 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Anyway when it originally happened the breakdown guy ended up disconnecting the battery (in an effort to stop the alarm) and the Vauxhall dealership reset the radio code. A few days ago I had a situation whereby upon moving off from stationary traffic the car just seemed to lose power and just revved when you pressed the accelerator. -
Ford Excursion - Any advice re: buying an American SUV 2 Dec 2010 (Forum)
The Defender has been ruled out because we have had one for nearly 10 years now and the family are demanding creature comforts like a radio and a heater that works! The Discovery 3 is only just coming into our price range but most vehicles have mileages well in excess of 100,000 miles. The Kia Sedona appears to be a competent tug, but I'm a little concerned about reliability and solidity. -
Skoda Yeti SUV (2009 - ) - First 150 miles in my new 2 Feb 2010 (Forum)
The only slight negative thus far is the Bolero stereo. It seems very slow and unresponsive when playing from a SD card, and the controls for the radio and CD seem illogical and overly complex. I found the system in my Octavia II Ambiente much more intuitive, although obviously less functional. Still a massive improvement in what was fitted to my old Mk I Octavia vRS though. -
Honda Jazz/Fit (2008 - ) - 5 miles in a new Jazz 9 Sep 2009 (Forum)
The trick boot area with split level floor and part folding floor means no spare wheel and the gearknob wasn?t secured properly. The other downside for me is the clutter of switches on and around the radio as all the aircon controls are in also in the same area. Makes things handy, but it is confusing when first trying to identify what all the buttons are and what they actually do. For a car which is generally chosen by the older generation it could appear very daunting.
