  • Tips for Driving in the Rain 12 Jul 2012 (Forum)
The danger of driving when the road is wet is tenfold especially when you are new to driving. An inexperienced fellow in a driver’s seat during a rainstorm can put others at risk as well himself. If you are experienced enough, there is no need to panic but not everyone comes as an expert in driving.

  • driving through Solvenia 8 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Last year I got a ferry from Ancona Italy to Split Croatia, but this year that ferry costs a few hundred Euros more, so now I'm thinking of driving and not sailing to Croatia. So any advice about driving through Slovenia is much appreciated. Thanks.
  • Driving lesson vouchers 6 Jan 2005 (Forum)
It's SWMBO's birthday coming up, and I'm struggling for ideas for a present (why are women so awkward to buy for? ;) ). One idea is that she needs driving lessons, as she wants to learn to drive. She did actually have some lessons about a year ago, and passed the theory test, but due to work and money had to stop. Are there driving lesson vouchers out there, that I could give her?
  • Preaching to the Converted 30 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I applaud everything I read encouraging more disciplined, relaxed & forgiving driving - even if it is getting more difficult to drive in this manner - and honestly believe most of the guys n gals reading the sensible advice given on this web site will take it to heart & hopefully improve their driving standards, but is it all in vain?

  • Learning to drive in the late 2030's 22 May 2023 (Forum)
Whilst out today I followed a Tesla with L plates. Got me thinking that there will come a time in the mid to late 2030's when the majority of driving school cars will be EVs and, unless the rules are changed, new drivers won't be able to drive cars with a manual gearbox.  Many first drives at present are older 'bangers' and manual and all those classics which they won't be able to enjoy.
  • Any - Driving once again 14 Jun 2020 (Forum)
One in five drivers surveyed say they're having trouble getting back into the habit of driving after doing so few miles during the coronavirus lockdown, with stalling and forgetting to indicate ranking in the top five errors mentioned. https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/news/driving-1/2020-06/a-fifth-of-drivers-admit-struggling-to-get-to-grips-with-driving-as-lockdown-eases/ That sounds to me like a normal day in any major conurbation.
  • na - Driving a car without insurance on the vehicle? 2 Aug 2010 (Forum)

  • Is the driving test too easy? (I don't think so) 20 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Quite often it's suggested on motoring forums that the driving test is too easy and this is one reason for poor driving standards. However, to anyone who thinks the driving test is too easy, I turn the question round. Would you, hand on heart, be confident of passing the test if you had to re-take it, and your licence depended on passing?

  • Safe driving ads on radio 24 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Has anyone heard the new safe driving ads running on Virgin radio? I'm a bit tired of hearing heads smash into each other in the seatbelts ad because I wear my seatbelt and don't drink drive, and the "Don't drive tired" one has a man talking in the most sleep inducing way he can, which is probably a tiny bit irresponsible if someone is tired!
  • This Weeks Poll. Which do you prefer? 19 Oct 2004 (Forum)
**** This weeks poll, as suggested by Stargazer (and partly by NoWheels) is now available. "Which do you prefer to drive?" Front wheel drive. Rear wheel drive. All wheel drive (permanent not switched). Dont know, as I have only driven one of the above. I don't know whether my car has front, rear, or all wheel drive.
