• Nissan Micra - Install Crankshaft Pulley 7 Sep 2013 (Forum)
  Could I tap the pulley onto the crankshaft until the crankshaft bolt can screw on and then use an impact drive ( Electric - Using car battery ) to screw the bolt on which in effect will force the pulley onto the crankshaft or would that be too forceful an possiblet damage the screw threads ? Grateful of any advice !! Thanks Patrick

  was working fine no warning lights, parked it up went out next day turns over fine but does not start. so i have put new battery in nothing checked fuel lines all pumping diesil up to injectors and now i am stuck. only thing i did do the day before was top up with diesel.if any1 could help

  Hi a friend of mine tried to use his remote fob but it won't open the car (nb he's over 200 miles away so the info I'm getting is via txt's). Sounds like the battery for the fob needs replacing. Surely he should be able to open the car with the ignition or door lock key? Is this likely to set the alarm off or if he has one fitted, trip the immobiliser? Any info gratefully received.

  The fob will not open the car and when you try to start it nothing happens. the immobiliser light on the dashboard is not illuminated, we initially thought the battery may be dead but have tried jump starting it from another car but still not a flicker of life. can anyone give any ideas what to try. many thanks

  [endif]--> Hi all I have an old unloved and un used 306 xnd it hasn’t been started in  a couple of years but im debating on getting it running again so I was thinking ill do a basic service Oil / fuel / air filters New glow plugs Oil flush and change New tires as the old ones would have perished by now New battery   Well this is all if i can get it to start initially Anything else I should look out for or think about doing?   When I turn the ignition there is a mechanical sound that I can only describe as a "strain" - this occurs at a cold start, warm start and during any kind of weather condition. The battery is ok, the spark plugs have been changed and I can't think of anything else it could be. It will start after 3 or 4 attempts (it's never failed to start).

  Although 40 quid seemed a bit steep, I noticed that they had done a "mini MOT" on the vehicle and tested the alternator, battery, tyres etc. They noticed a defective rear brake light. They also noticed a broken drop link and quoted 39.95 to fix this. * Is this a good price? * Is it unsafe  to drive around with a broken drop link?

  My 97 A4 is very very dead, not only will it not start, the alarm is dead, the central locking is dead, the instrument lights are dead, even the clock is dead. The battery is less than a year old and prior to today it has been starting without any issues in the cold. I have tried jump starting it but this didn't work either, still not lights on the instrument panel.

  Today my engine fan stays on full whilst driving then when parked (car is not overheating atall,the engine is cold),manage 3 small trips leaving car for half an hour each time,the last time it wont start,get  it jump started all ok but fan stays on,1 mile on at 30mph loses all power,pull over the engine turns over but wont start,battery goes flat,try to jump start again,nothing will work.Would really appreciate any advise.

  Hi My son has a  Peugeot Partner van 1.9 not the Turbo model. The problem we have is starting it in the mornings, we have changed the Battery, Glow plugs, Starting Motor, Fuel Filter and still you have to turn it over 4 to 5 times with your foot pumping   the Accelerator before it starts to chug, When it eventally starts it sounds like its missing for a while then it clears its self and is ok.

  I have just bought a Citroen C5 2.2L HDi 2002 (02) 5 door, the battery was disconnected to fir a new rear door lock and now the Trip Computer does not work (it worked fine before the disconnection), the button on the wiper stalk does not respond at all. The only thing on the display is the time, date, external temp and radio/ CD details when the radio is in use.

  My immobilisor seems to be playing up.  I've had the batteries replaced in my key fob.  however when I put the key into the ignition one way it comes up immobilsor activated (though it still allows car to start but warning noise n light remains).  If I take the key out turn it round and insert the warning doesn't come up.

  Its happened quite suddenly and i was wondering what could possibly be wrong with it? Ive changed the oil, oil filter and air filter within last 5 months. Howver i have bought a new battery (bosch s4005). any ideas?

  This problem has been getting worse over time. Also I used to be able to jump start the car but not any more. The battery and alternater have been checked and seem ok. Also when turning the key the fuel gauge drops off to zero while the engine is turning over. Any help greatly appreciated.

  Today I have had the car out and every time I have turned the engine off the engine cooling fan has run for hours and has obviously run the battery down to nothing. I have checked all the books and also online to try and find what the prob could be but have gotten nowhere. Can anyone please advise. Many thaNKS

  I can still lock car manually but the alarm sounds when I re-open it until ignition is switched on. Have tried changing batteries on Fob with no joy. Have tried my other Fob with no joy ( this hasn't been used for many years however) Anyone have any clues as to whats wrong? Is there any way I can immobolise the alarm ?

  hi there ui have recently bought a 306 with a nakerd engine i have went and bought a replacement engine and fittef it no problem i now hav the car sitting causing me a headache it does not turn over from the key to start, i have a remote key with the central locking buttons on it that do not work, (possibly a battery in key?.) i am not shure if the pumps are coded or imoiliser makes a dif ? any help would be much apreciated thanks

  Drove over a bump and ignition light came on, radio stopped working ,mirrors don't work. Ignition light doesn't go out. Battery voltage is 13 volts, start engine and it shows 15 volts. Seems healthy. Fuse number 21 (10 amp) was blown. Replaced but no cure. Don't actually know what this fuse does as I don't have a handbook.

  the alternator on my ford ka doesnt seem to be charging. i put a multi meter across the battery when the engine was running and it read 11.82 as it did when the car wasnt running. is this just a straight forward alternator swap or could it be something else. i dont want to take the part off if it could be something like a relay or fuse somewhere. does it need to go on a computer????
