Ford Transit - Help with independent dealer 21 Dec 2013 (Forum)
This didn't work so I called out the RAC (after upgrading my membership with them as my current membership didn't have Home Start on it) and the RAC mechanic spent a good amount of time checking everything over to try and start it. The engine started using EastStart but then stalled - fuel was not getting to the engine from the fuel filter (the fuel filter was getting fuel from the tank ok) so he suggested it might be the fuel pump. It was now around 5:30pm so he towed my car to my regular garage, for them to look at the next morning. -
Ford focus econotec diesel 2008 - Car chooses when to start - Help!! 21 Aug 2021 (Forum)
He looked at at and said it wasn't the EGR Valve. He ran a computer diagnostic test, a diesel injector leakage test, fuel pressure removal, cleaning and refitting, he changed the fuel filter and added liquid moly diesel purge fuel system cleaner. The car started and ran fine. A few days later it stopped again. My wife found a youtube video where someone warms up a car engine with a hairdryer and a little fan heater and the engine started. -
Ford C-MAX - DPF replaced, rotten egg smell and amber light 14 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Hi, I bought a 2008 C Max 3 weeks ago. Mileage 126,000. The guy said he hadn't used it much during lockdown. When I put fuel in it, it took a while for the fuel gauge to move. OH plugged it in before the drive home and it said fuel pressure sensor code, but the gauge gradually came up as we were discussing the car. I noticed exhaust fumes filling the cabin on the 2 hour drive home. -

Renault Clio II (1998 - 2001) - '99 1.6RXE Rough idle + Car won't rev up 14 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Their report is as follows: Trouble Codes:- Oxygen sensor circuit Loss of Power to ECU Items Checked:- All engine sensors check out OK on ove data, except oxygen sensor which remains low all the time, unless fuel is restricted or MAP sensor vaccum pipe disconnected, then fluctuates normally. Continuity between oxygen sensor and ECU checked OK All earths in engine bay and on engine OK Earths and power to ECU OK ECU independently checked twice (both OK) New parts fitted:- Oxygen Sensor Inlet manifold gaskets New Fuel Pump Fuel Regulator Spark Plugs and leads Fuel replaced in case of contamination Conclusion:- Engine appears to be running far too lean I subsequntly gave the car to the local Renault garage and the cannot find anything at fault on their diagnostoc system and have checked the electricals etc and have also completely drawn a blank with their own car! -
Driving diesels with health in mind 19 May 2009 (Forum)
My reasoning is, the compression is maintained, the exhaust temps are kept nice and high, soot build up should be reduced, possibly less smoking and carbon build up, the revs just off boost mean that big power requests are answered with enough air to fuel mix from the turbo being ready so you dont get big clouds of black smoke / unburn't fuel. So at between 1.8k and 2.6k there is possibly less stress on the DMF and turbo. I also find that providing you maintain a steady speed there is little difference in fuel consumption between lower RPM's and say 2k. -

Cost of EVs 26 Feb 2020 (Forum)
The battery pack cost is offset by no gearbox, cooling or ignition systems etc etc. Modern vehicles are the cleanest ever with cats and unleaded fuel and monitored emission checks on the mot. -
