Stupid brake light 11 Oct 2002 (Forum)
I need help here. 'Stupid' should probably be applied to me, but I can't work out why my brake light won't work. Its the offside one, my car's a K reg 309. Changed the bulb to find the original was fine. Fuse has to be fine as it looks after other items such as the stereo, which all work. Wiring on the light cluster looks ok and theres no corrosion where the bulb slots in. -

Recently purchased 1.8i 16v 96 ( 2 weeks ) , nice and clean , waiting for the problems to surface , replaced 4 corner spheres (Eurocarparts £12 each ), still sitting a little low at the back , but chanced trip to Inverness from Liverpool, reached Glasgow rear suspension non existent , found local accomodation with intent homeward return , brake failure !!, no initial pressure , panic !! and brakes lock up , returned home on rear of pick up. Where do I start any techies with ideas ? can I check rear central sphere for Ok ness ? does the suspension relate to braking system?? -
EPC warning lights on SEAT LEON 17 Nov 2001 (Forum)
The latest problem keeping my new Leon off the road (fifth time since new) is the EPC warning light and a brake lights failure. This happened after I was obliged to brake hard (at less than 20mph). The AA had to be called out - were unable to resolve and the car is back with SEAT again. The implication being that if anyone is forced to perform an emergency stop, the car is likely to be unroadworthy (AA's words): the brake lights won't work and the EPC has to be reset by a Dealership (??) -

(Mine are apparently 33.63mm) New rear disks new have a thickness of 22mm and are worn/need replaced at 19.4mm. What's very interesting to me is that my disks have worn out before my brake pads. My front pads are 4mm and need replaced at 3mm. I will probably take it to an independent garage for a second opinion before doing anything else but I'm totally peeved off. I should add my brakes feel great and there are no warning lights on! -

On two occasions I have had the brakes fail when joining a roundabout. The brake pedal goes hard like the servo is not working and the car does not stop, quite frightening. Problem goes away and works perfectly ok when you go for the brakes again. -

The next day I was informed a brake hose needed replacing - I asked for a quote and was told the manager would contact me on the Monday. Monday came and I was informed the job couldn't be done in isolation and £570 of work was needed (i.e. change all the brakes - apparently this is a common thing with this establishment!). -
