Legal Advice Sought 22 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Then staff were friendly and carried out a standard free brake inspection. The next day I was informed a brake hose needed replacing - I asked for a quote and was told the manager would contact me on the Monday. Monday came and I was informed the job couldn't be done in isolation and £570 of work was needed (i.e. change all the brakes - apparently this is a common thing with this establishment!). -

Fiat Uno 93 1.0i Fire 24 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Experienced problems with brakes. Symtoms synonymous with air, have changed fluid and bled but still requires extra pump to stop effectively. I understand there are problems with the rear brake adjusters on this model. Could this be contributing to the problem? -

Daihatsu Skywing (Like G11 Charade, mostly) - Did I just buy asbestos brake shoes? 16 Sep 2021 (Forum)
A brake lining detached from a shoe again. This has happened 3 or 4 times, suggesting that, even for the Skywing it might be worth buying brake parts from known manufacturers, IF I knew where I could get them. -
Citroen Berlingo 1.9D 54 plate - Very strange occurance - brakes/engine? 24 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Anyway I thought I'd check the wheels for temperature and the front nearside/left wheel was noticeably hotter than the right/offside. So, the brakes must have been sticking at speed, but it is easy enough to push round 'by hand', even full of all my tools. I took it into a mechanic near the job I was working, and he said that disc was blued that side, slightly less the other and that it could be brake hose or pads not seated properly. -

Peugeot 306 locked brakes 23 Jun 2007 (Forum)
They eventually turned up 2.5 hours later - they couldn't find Asda in a town where there is only one Asda!!! LOL. He drove the car back and realised that the back passenger side brakes had locked. He took the wheel off to try and release the brake disc etc, it had pretty much ceased on. They eventually then (another 2 hours later) sent a tow truck and has dropped my car at the local garage. -
ABS fault - VW LT28 van 20 Aug 2006 (Forum)
The ABS works as it should under heavy braking, and the warning light works normally. No fault codes are recorded after a road test. If the ABS is disabled, the brakes work normally, but without the thud. I've replaced the ABS unit, (with a known good one), bled the brakes, and adjusted the n/s/r sensor to ring clearance. -
Brake pad/caliper rust (Peugeot 306) 12 Jul 2006 (Forum)
As a non-mechanically minded girl I happily take my car to the garage and let them get on with things. However... In January all my brake pads were replaced. In June the front left brake pads had to be replaced again as the calipers had rusted and they had worn away the brake pads. What I am wondering is whether the garage should have noticed a build up of rust back in January - surely rust can't develop from no where in just 6 months? -
Volkswagen Passat Brake problem 5 Feb 2006 (Forum)
The car has had a thorough brake test by a local brake centre including an ABS diagnostic check and no faults were found. This is obviously an intermitent fault. I have been told that the ABS Modulator may be at fault and this would not have been apparent on the diagnostic check.
