Volkswagen Scirocco - 1.4 TSI engine 20 Feb 2019 (Forum)
To add insult to injury, our son leases his car and he can return it in September. Neither the lease company or the finance company want to know, so at 20 years old, he is left with an enormous bill!! Volkswagen have dealt with this differently each time, in some cases paying all labour costs as well, even when the car is out of warranty. -
Hyundai Tucson 1.6 GDi Blue Drive SE Nav 5dr 2WD - Choice between 18 reg (10 miles) & 67(9.5k miles) 29 May 2018 (Forum)
I’m probably not going to be driving it that much – 3-5k miles per year and will probably keep it for at least 5 years. I’m not trading in and not taking finance. Do you think the newer / less mileage option is worth paying extra for in this scenario? Do you think AC would budge much on the £18,500 asking price? -
Toyota Yaris - Registering before 1st April 2017 21 Mar 2017 (Forum)
A few days after ordering, the dealership sent me a Confirmation Of Registration Details, confirming the VIN and registration number, which I signed and returned that day. Last Saturday I was invited to the dealership to sign the finance paperwork and agreed a date to collect the vehicle. After signing the paperwork, the salesman advised he didn't have a date but would call me at 4pm. This didn't happen so I called him at 6pm, he advised the delivery was showing as 31st March, but all other cars come in much quicker so he expected it to be delivered this week. -
Mercedes C220 CDi - Buying No V5 Repo with Private Plate 18 Nov 2016 (Forum)
I've been considering buying a car at a BCA auction that is a finance house repossession with no V5 and a private plate. A quick Google search revealed that the plate is actually currently for sale but HPi and VOSA MoT records show that the private plate on the car is currently the correct plate for this car. -
New Seat Leon 5dr 2.0TDi 184PS FR - Best hatchback, advice? 27 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I will be the main user and doing quite a lot of short journeys but my dad will be using the car to do longer journeys. Buying the car on 0% 3yr PCP finance, the GMFV of the TDi at the end of 3yrs will be £10,100 roughly and GMFV of 1.4eco is around £8700 both on a 10k/year mileage basis respectively. I am geeky so I worked out the difference will be £544.83 with regards to the total payable over 3yrs. -

Buying my Second(ish) Car - Medium Hatchback 10 Nov 2013 (Forum)
So, I have some to the conclusion that something in the medium hatchback sector would be appropriate for my needs, but can't pinpoint which car. I'm looking at 2007-2010 models based on what I can afford (I don't really want finance, I'd rather buy it outright straight away). My shortlist is essentially: Ford Focus Audi A3 BMW 1 Series Has anyone got any other suggestions (please don't say Golf)? -
Ford Fiesta MKVI 1.4 Style (2005) - Ford Fiesta clutch/gearbox issues 12 Oct 2013 (Forum)
I'm told it is almost certainly the clutch, but I want to be 110% sure. Because the car was bought from a finance company, I'm hoping it'll be something that is covered under warranty. Either way, I don't feel confident driving it as I fear I could make the problem worse. Any help will be greatly appreciated. -

Vauxhall Astra H Sporthatch (2005 - ) - 2006 1.6 Engine Cutting out 9 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I did not buy the car from a vauxhall dealer but another garage, I am trying to end the agreement under the Supply of Goods Act and am currently awaiting a date for Court as the finance company are claiming nothing is wrong because the garage can not find the fault. Anyone have any idea or help ? Thanks -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 19 1.3 Suspension now knocking at rear and steerin 10 Oct 2009 (Forum)
The problem is I checked it underneath and there is little rust, the engine sounds healthy too, we know we need a car new as this is not going to last but decided financally the best thing we can do is keep it until next years MOT providing this clonking noise is nothing too serious. So where do we start? We are worried taking it to another garage in case they charge a fortune just to look at it but should these noises be easy to spot whats wrong? -
Advice sought over a car purchase 22 Sep 2009 (Forum)
he replied that they will find out all the problems when they MOT it-the dealership have now said they are not going to fix it and will not collect the car from the garage) He has phoned the finance company and explained that the garage is refusing to pick the car up and they are refusing to do anything. He wants to cancel everything and get his money back that he paid towards the care (about £1k) Can you guys help us out with where he stands from a legal point of view? -
Asked to pay upfront 3 days prior to collection?! 26 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I got a call from the dealer telling me that I can pick the car up next but I have to come three days earlier to make the payment (am paying with no finance). So after nearly falling off my chair at being told that I have to go the dealership first to pay up front and not being allowed to take the car home for 3 days....I asked the question why and they told me it was standard practice!!! -
Honda CR-V III (2007 - ) - Honda are doing deals right now 17 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I got over £1500 more than i expected for my Octavia estate and to make the deal even sweeter nearly £5000 of the CRV. I also took Honda finance at a great rate and i am also getting cashback. I got them to throw the elegance carpet mats in and gave them the order. You may ask who is this dealer. It is Westgate Honda Grimsby. The salesman i dealt with is called Ian and he informs me the deal is on until the end of the month. -
Help me to pick the right car this time 22 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Am leaning towards a diesel estate - as being able to put buggy in lengthways would be a joy, along with other luggage. No finance outstanding on the Leon - I paid cash. I am undure what I would pick up part-ex - rear OS door has a dent in it which I have been quoted £600 to repair - but I have £1500 on top of what I will get in part-ex to purchese the right car this time. -
One car two prices 13 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I had actually gone out to look at C1's, but they were too small: considered a new C3 Desire but having test drove the 54 reg SX on the forecourt, bought that for slightly cheaper, at £8495 before discount PX etc. I am happy with the deal, the finance and glad of the PX for my Octavia. £500 Deposit left. One slight problem was that i had a look around on Auto trader when i got home and found apparently the same car for £7,495 on the net. Not a different car, but the same one. -
Main-dealer salesmen techniques? 29 Apr 2003 (Forum)
A nice car, it was though easily £1500 over A1 book. I told him I had a big deposit wanted about 50% of the price as Rover finance, had no part-ex and all the documents to sign up that day and leave a deposit. Would he haggle? No. He wasn't interested in my offer which was definitely nearer retail at £1000 less than sticker and didn't even want to counter-offer. -
Imported "new" Car 5 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Began discussions with the new dealer on getting out of the PCP we were in and that we wanted to deal with someone else and would they help us get a new car The new dealer then informs us that the car is an import - and, although on a PCP has no finance outstanding ( news to me on both fronts ) so hpi is clear - although the check also reveals that there are no other details on the system for the car .. Anyway - the fact that we were sold an import ( not to our knowledge ) as a "new" car with only delivery mileage reduces the resale value also it is - in my opinion fraud on behalf of the dealer who sold it to us So my questions are this - what process would we need to follow to buy an import and therefore what documentation is missing and how do we stand as the consumer.... we have demanded all our money back and will take the matter further if needs be as this was a main dealer and the maths just doesnt stack up .... -
Time to treat myself 2 Feb 2003 (Forum)
We're looking at R,S and T reg cars at places like the GTC or similar, up to about £4k (will be on finance). Likely candidates include Honda Accord, Toyota Avensis, Nissan Primera, Ford Mondeo. SWMBO fell in love with an 85k mile 98S Mondeo Ghia X 2.0 16v manual with leather, air and cruise for £3899 screen price last weekend, but now it's been sold. -
