  got a problem with my saab ,runs fine but sometimes it smokes bad (black)i switch off engine and start it again it clears, its a intermitant problem any ideas what it could be? thanks in advance

  hi everyone ive finaly got my a4 running ,i think ive got the timing out as engines slightly loud and smokes a bit , does anyone have a idea if im correct in thinking timings slightly out ~?

  The Robin thread and my recent purchase of the Maxi just got me wondering if anyone else owns a "practical classic"... ie pre 1980 and not some fancy thing like an e type, just an ordinary run-of-the mill family car form the 50s/60s or 70s?

  Always thought the ventilation on the Focus is poor, so I tend to run with the driver's side window open an inch or two. What would fitting a clip-on wind deflector do - cut noise and draughts? If they are any good, any recommendations as to which make and where to buy from?

  Just replaced the head gasket on a 94 astra 1.6 eco tech the car runs fine but is burning a lot of oil and therefore smoking a lot out of the exhaust. Any suggestions on whats going on? Cheers

  Noticed a leak from top end of number 4 injector. Any ideas what needs replacing ? and how to get access to it. Car has 164,000 on clock and runs fine once statred.

  Sorry if this a dumb question, but if I copy the entire contents of my C drive to a freestanding external hard drive, then I attach that drive to another computer, will I be able to run the all the programs and data that I ran on my 'donor' computer?

  apart from the obvious what does carb cleaner do? do you spray it into the carb (airbox removed) with the engine running? wondered if it was worth using it on a tired mk 3 fiesta 130k, it doesnt smoke from the exaust and the emmisions were fine at the MOT in feb, thanks

  Does anyone know if a modern car doing 55mpg uses more energy to build and run than an older car without EFI, A/C, swathes of sound deadening, central locking, etc, etc, etc doing, say 30mpg, or have manufacturing processes developed as well as engine designs?

  This is a general query about 2 stroke engines. In my teens I owned a 2 stroke motor cycle and noticed at night it used to run smoother. I picked up somewhere that it was due to more moisture in the air at night. Is this a correct and is this the reason that some WW2 aero engines had water injection?

  SWMBO 2001 Mazda 1.6l, 323F. Engine warning light is now permanently illuminated- car still runs fine and no apparent problems. Is this an MOT failure or will it depend on the emissions readouts? -- I wasna fu but just had plenty.

  i had the misfortune to use the dartford crossing then m25-m11 last night, oh my god ive seen such bad delays , i thought i was going to run out of fuel anyone know whats going on there?? best check and avoid this area if you have a journey planned

  The rear suspension works fine but the front suspension is stuck in full height all the time! The front sphere has a wire running to what looks like a solenoid, this clicks from time to time and gets hot, is this the problem or a result of another fault elswhere? Marc
