Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi - Focus TDCi LIMP HOME MODE SOLVED....I THINK! 12 Feb 2019 (Forum)
I got as far as Southampton and the car started losing power. I immediately turned off the motorway found the nearest fuel station and filled up. I then drove to Portsmouth and then back to Bournemouth with absolutely no problems, not even the odd fuel blip. So there you have it folks, if you have a problem with a diesel Focus going into limp home mode on motorway journeys, maybe its worth taking note of how much fuel you have on board, and if it happens when its continually below 1/3, try keeping your tank topped up and see if it solves the problem. -
Skoda Fabia - Fuel leaking into the Sump tank 10 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Basically they’re trying to tell me the car tried to regen itself but failed so ended up dumping the excess diesel into the oil sump. I’ve done a little bit off googling that says fuel could enter through the pistons. Basically they’re saying there could be damage to the engine now. Has anyone heard of this? Is it too much off a coincidence or happened within a month of the water pump and cambelt being changed? -

Toyota Avensis (2003 - 2008) - 2.2d4d fuel consumption. 1 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Hi, Can anyone tell me what levels of fuel consumption they are getting from a 2.2 d4d avensis? I have just bought one brand new old stock and I have had it for 3 weeks now and I am lucky to get 33 mpg out of it. I am old school at 44 and I have been driving it with caution (running in) I have been told this is not nessesary, but old habits die hard. -
Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - 2004 1.9 dCi poor fuel consumption 7 Apr 2008 (Forum)
If the next step is a garage - not sure if it's best going to a Renault garage which doesn't care or a small private garage? (do they understand turbo diesels?) -
Rover 200 (1995 - 1999) - 220SDI 1997cc, Engine missed and won't re-start 10 Feb 2008 (Forum)
When we pulled over and stopped, the engine did a restart, still missing and then the engine cut out and would not re start. Called recovery who checked fuel flow into and out of filter, said this was o.k. They suggested it could be an injector problem or fuel pump. Has anyone any ideas for a practical sort of chap like me? Is it possible to fit new injectors? -
best and worst MPG 12 Nov 2002 (Forum)
My average 36 MPG dropped to just 18. I even stopped at a certain point to check if the fuel cap was on properly and fuel wasn't being somehow sucked out of the tank in the slipstream as I could almost see the fuel gauge dropping. Then again at an indicated 150 MPH what do you expect. CMark -

Ford Focus 5Dr Hatchback 2.0 Ltr TDCI - Starting Problems 4 Aug 2015 (Forum)
and said they cannot find any faults and have said 'it is just one of those things' which will be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. The car has had a full service every 12 months/12.5k with fuel, oil, air filters changed each time even though the fuel and air filter does not need changing each time! Fuel treatment has also been added at each service. I hope someone can suggest a possible cause as I feel it will let me down at some point soon if this issue is not resolved. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.9 IDI - Rough Starting 2 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Trips to Liverpool and Leicester return normal fuel consumption and other performance. I f it had displayed the symptom spontaneously I’d have said glow plug(s) not right or, if not, air in fuel. -
Is there such a car? 12 Aug 2013 (Forum)
. :) This will be a second family car so I don't want a particularly large car but it does have to be big enough to comfortably fit 4 of us in. Something like a Toyota Aygo would be useless for example. No preference over petrol or diesel. I want: To pay less than £9,000 It to be high miles per gallon so fuel costs are as low as possible, this is quite important. Preferably over 50mpg since the fuel figures listed are always optimistic to say the least. -
Focus Filters 5 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I asked him and the other mechanics if he was something wrong. No they are all like this I was told, the fuel will come through eventually. They ended up tow starting it, after about half a mile it started, the amber heat light came on then went off. They let me take it home. I looked in my Haynes manual which said that you should fill the new filter with diesel before trying to start it! -
Fuel problem or not ? 1.4 tdi vw polo 9 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Any one with an idea of the cause of these symptoms I have a 1.4 tdi pd (turbo diesel) Polo I should also emphasis it has 3 cylinders .and this fault appeared. when I was out in the car yesterday, the car suffered a dramatic loss of power in that when I was on on level ground I could not get the engine above 2500 rpm and the engine was jerking slightly as though the fuel was being shut off and on. when I reached an incline in the road I was left wondering if the car was going to manage to reach the top.
