320d vs A3 2.0TDI vs Leon Cupra TDI 19 Jan 2007 (Forum)
However they were a 16k car when new and this shows in the interior and build quality. Also they seem to have over-inflated residual prices - 10k for a 60k miler that's 2 or 3 years old! The Audi is a nice car, built well and looks nice, but it just isn't value for money in my opinion - 3 or 4 years old and still asking 11k for what is effectively a small hatch. -
Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - Car seats - not what they used to be... 15 Jul 2008 (Forum)
s been a cool day (15° with air-con on). Has anybody else noticed this? I drove a 2002 model as a courtesy car some years ago and recalled the seating to be on a par with my old model. I found the Mondeo to be similar. So far, the car that wins hands-down for driver-seat comfort is the Octavia Estate (my budget is £250+VAT 15k miles non-maintained) and I don? -
Jaguar XF - 2016 Jaguar XF 2.0D 180 Reliability v 2009 XF 2.7D 22 Jul 2019 (Forum)
I've been toying with the idea of one of the last 2014 3 litre old shape XFs. In a nutshell, do XF 180 owners think I should change my trusty old 2.7 for one? Or would I be better off getting a last of the line 3.0? Thanks in advance -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace - Helllp! Should I risk buying 10 year old car? 14 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Hello, I need a van-based car, I'm a practical kind of woman- more likely to fall in love with a camper van than a posh car! I wouldn't care if something... -
Diesel engine disaster 22 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I purchased it from a well known car supermarket which it was just nine months old with about 12000 miles showing. It ran well until the hot weather in early summer when it started to lose power and stutter. Over the summer it went into the Ford dealer for repairs, them keeping the car for a few days on each visit and changing various electrical parts. -
So would you buy and oldish diesel.... 26 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Having had the fun and engagement of the 968, I fancy something a bit more 'luxo barge' like, and given that I am up to about 15k miles per annum, diesel makes more sense. But what to get - 5-6 year old diesels are going to have 80k miles on them, and so will be up to or over 100k within a couple of years of my ownership. While I am aware that people on this forum do run diesels to high mileage, there is a clearly a higher risk when I take on a car from someone at 5-6 years old. -
Audi A4 Tdi (90BHP) no boost & noisy 4 May 2006 (Forum)

a Newer car. Used. Your suggestions 30 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Hello! Please help me choose the right car. My budget is no more than £ 8000. Used car, but a reliable, economical main condition and an automatic, preferably Japanese. My very old diesel Volkswagen Lupo is completely unusable. And now I want a more comfortable car and a bigger one. -
Buying a C cat car from far away and on CC 25 Nov 2014 (Forum)
The car is in the region of £5.5k, two years old. If the car develops a fault within a reasonable time period, ie six months, will the garage be liable regardless of their no warranty claim? Also, if I pay on credit card what additional protection would I have? -
Ford Fiesta - Drive Assist claiming damage to loan car. 24 Nov 2012 (Forum)
My daughter was lent a car by Drive Assist whilst her car was being repaired after her car was hit behind at a junction. It's just been picked up by Drive Assist as her car has now been repaired and, after an inch by inch inspection the guy collecting the car claimed there was damage to an alloy and the cost would be £75. -
What is reliability ? 31 Aug 2009 (Forum)
E.g car A fails 5 times in 10 years and costs an average of £150 per time to repair Car B fails only two times but costs and average of £800 to repair. Also what do people thing defines lack of reliability, recently had to replace a switch on my car as it broke, some people would be saying the car was unreliable but I just took it as one of those things you get on running a nine year old car which has done over 100,000 miles. -
Audi A3 + S3 (2001 - 2003) - Urgent. Can you lock this car without the key? 19 Aug 2009 (Forum)
She is staying in our daughter's house while the daughter is away with husband and nippers. A neighbour told her the car seemed to be open. One of the doors was on the latch, and they are all unlocked. It's an Audi A3 diesel, five years old or so. I don't know the car myself. How does she lock the car without the keys or fob? -
Buying a car with an inordinately low mileage. 1 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Would anybody recommend buying a car at 5-10 years old that has averaged less than 1000 miles per year? The main issue I can see with buying a pensioners shopping car is that in all its life, it may never have had a decent run at full operating temperature. -
Tracing the history of a Mini 11 Jan 2003 (Forum)
A friend of mine has a 1994M Mini Cooper that is currently SORNed, but in show condition as it has just been restored. He now wishes to sell it as the opportunity to buy an historically significant car has come up. However, the car's registration plate and history (he is the third owner, after the car was bought at 6 months old from a local dealer) leads us to believe that the car was originally a press or brochure car. -
Volkswagen Phaeton (2002 - ) - Am I nuts? Or just plain old fashioned mad? 7 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I was in my local VW dealer yesterday looking at trading in the good wife's Touran for a new one. She's lucky enough to have just got a fantastic new job with a very generous car allowance, and is therefore expected to have something new and reliable for the job. So, the 4 year old Touran with 52k on it and 4 years of child/dog related abuse is looking a bit below par. We have settled on getting a 2.0 TDi SE DSG as the replacement and are very much looking forward to enjoying the extra power and equipment over our current poverty spec 1.9 TDi S. -
Hell's Granny hit and run! 6 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Fortunately she only seems to have hit my wheel, no other visible damage, and it is on my old Fiesta, but obviously she wouldn't have been insured had she caused some serious damage and no doubt I would have been painted the big, bad, nasty driver had I needed to sue a defenceless old lady for damages. -
How much to pay for a 2nd hand car 17 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I would welcome a bit of advice about what I should pay for a 2nd hand car. I need to change my current Passat for a similar sized car asap. My wife and I have trawled around the local garages and have decided on either a year old Passat or a year old Mondeo. We would like an Accord or a CRV but don't want to pay that much money. -
Swapped the wifes car (cars) 24 Jun 2015 (Forum)
As you will possibly remember the wife has been a very happy Kia Ceed SW CRDi owner for nearly 5 years. Last October she "inherited" my dads 7 1/2 year old Nissan Micra when he gave up driving. Since then we have been coping with 4 cars in the household reasonably well but space is tight and about to get tighter (loosing a garage and carport in house move) so something had to go. -
TUD5 VZJ problem with CAV pump ?? - Toro mower with TUD5 ( saxo \ 106 ) low torque 29 May 2021 (Forum)
I have a diesel mower with a simple, old diesel motor, TUD5. I bought the machine not running. I have changed out the motor as old one had no compression. ( 4000hrs ) The new motor has 66000km and is as should be. Compression.400+ on all cylinders. -
Kia Ceed 3 - Dual Clutch Transmission review 22 Nov 2017 (Forum)
Leaving the car in D and then using parking brake is not advised in the handbook (if you do so, the car will possibly move it to N from D internally as handbook says you must do D-N-D routine to move the car again if you apply parking brake while in D).
