  • Nissan Almera Tino 2.2 dCi - Poor fuel economy 6 Apr 2019 (Forum)
I have checked tyre pressures and the air filter cleanliness, the car has FSH and was only serviced 3000 miles ago. The fuel computer says 37mpg, and filling the tank and working it out the old fasioned way only confirms the computer is accurate! Even if I put the car in 6th at 60mph on the dual carriageway, and reset the computer it refuses to indicate a better average than 39mpg.

  • Volkswagen Polo 1.4 Petrol 2001 - Emissions Warning Light Problem 18 Aug 2012 (Forum)
They said it was likely to have been a bit of dirt in the fuel which caused it, they fuel cleaner in it, reset the light and advised me to use Shell for fuel.   For the last month, I have only used Shell petrol and kept a float of about a quarter of a tank in it.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2003 1.8 Zetec Tdci 115 fuel consumption 18 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I've recently bought a Focus 1.8 Tdci 115bhp from a Ford dealer. I'm a bit disappointed by its fuel consumption as I'm only getting about 48mpg from it whereas I thought that this car is supposed to do about 53mpg. This is about 540 miles on a full tank if I leave it as long as poss until the fuel needle really isn't moving.
  • Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - Fuel Economy 12 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I've had a Mondeo Titanium 1.8 TDci 125Bhp for the last month, and only clocked up 1500 miles - so I appreciate I might be jumping the gun a bit.....but.....the fuel economy is appalling. It's a company car, and choosing this car was a delicate balance of what I could get for my money, test drives, economy, tax, looks, safety - and this beat off an Audi A4, BMW 320d and the Merc C200cdi.
  • M reg 1.4 Clio high fuel consumption 15 Apr 2007 (Forum)
The car is serviced regularly with oil change at least every 5k miles. My question is what could cause such a large drop in fuel economy. i am losing nearly 100miles per tank? Any possibility for the wobble, i gave up on the garage, which came highly recommended. I would appreciate any advice, as this little economical car has cost me far more than my previous carlton estate and audi avant!!!!

A warm air tube is therefore not present, only the ducting from the airflow meter/fuel distributor (depends which K jet or digifant) Question...has anyone else experienced fuel contamination like this and do they reckon it gives the same symptoms as icing? (before I take out the tank sender and manually drain the fuel system).
