Mazda 6 - electric window problem 21 Nov 2006 (Forum)
In September this year, I bought a 1 year old Mazda 6 from a UK Mazda dealer. Since then, on 3 separate occasions, I've gone out to the car and found all 4 electric windows completely down. I'm currently having to keep it in the garage at nights and in a secure car park at work until I can get the garage to look at it under waranty. -
Just how did they break in? 4 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Returned to my car this evening to find all 4 windows wide open (and of course, contents missing). No sign of forced entry. Pretty sure I'd locked it - it's a reflex action whenever I leave the car, much the same as putting seat belt on before driving. -
Honda Jazz - extended warranty 29 Sep 2006 (Forum)
So our Jazz is 3yrs old now, and we've been offered Hondacare Guarantee for £400 for a year or £700 for 2 yrs. Normally I never buy extended guarantees, but, bearing in mind I'd have to get some sort of recovery cover (it's really Mrs Payer's car) and that would cost £70 per year, I'm wondering whether to go for it or not? -
just a quick fuel eco question... 30 Jun 2006 (Forum)
my 306 1.9 td gets on average 600 miles from a tank. I work this out to be 10 miles to a litre which is 45 mpg. I think this is average for the car so im pleased as its over 10 years old. My question is...how are some people selling cars on ebay etc sayin 'i get 520 miles from a tank = 50+ mpg'? How are people working out mpg? I thought it was 4.5 litres to a gallon. -

Metro exhaust?? 18 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I'm wondering what is the worst that could be wrong with the exhaust in this case and how much would I be looking at to fix it in the worst case scenario? She's selling the car for very cheap, it's 10 or 11 years old, but I don't want to buy something that I have to spend hundreds on. -
Insuring a banger 2 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Not sure if you guys can help, but I'd appreciate any nuggets of info you can give me. It's renewal time on my insurance, and I've got a few quotes for my reliable old Cavalier SRi, but they almost outweigh the value of the car. I don't need to worry about people nicking or damaging my car as it's worth peanuts now, but obviously need cover. However, I do wish to retain my no claims for future purchases. -
Citroen AX Radio 8 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Hi, Ive just been given an old K-Reg Citroen AX and I went into Halfords to try and get the stereo upgraded. However, due to an odd sized facia (or something) they wont do it. The stereo (cassette/radio) doesnt actually work and I do want some music in the car as I drive! -
Know-It-All Environmentalists 2 Dec 2004 (Forum)
ID=5435 Apparently its lack of catalytic converter causes 'unacceptable levels of pollution'. What these people don't seem to realise is that a car causes more pollution before it's ever driven than in it's entire lifetime of use: http://www.greenspeed.us/electric_bicycle_manufacture.htm Shouldn't environmentalists be encouraging us to keep old cars in good condition and on the road, and more importantly shouldn't they make sure that they are familiar with all the facts before preaching to others? -

Astra draining the life force...... 8 Dec 2003 (Forum)
mate of mine has an old Astra (the j/k shape one) it seems to be draining the battery symptoms are that the car runs OK for the first few shortish runs, then will be difficult to start, then the battery light starts coming on after starting, then the car fails to start he's had a new battery fitted, now a new alternator but the problem has recurred any thoughts? -
Merc CLK. Mondeo with a badge 13 Oct 2003 (Forum)
It looks lovely, but is it really worth £21,000 more than the £14,000 I paid for my three month old car. I don't think so! How much are you prepared to pay for a badge? -
Ford Mondeo TDCi 130 2 May 2003 (Forum)
Has anyone else here had this happen and if so what caused the problem. I went straight to a local dealer (mine is a company car so not bought locally) who said the fuel pump was showing signs of wear, the car is 2 days old!. It has run ok since that though. Thanks Richard -
Ancient autobox problem 20 Jan 2003 (Forum)
The car - 1965 Ford Galaxie 500, 5.7 litre V8, Ford 3-speed autobox. The problem - transmission does not change into top gear until the car reaches 50-55mph, even with very gentle acceleration. Otherwise behaves perfectly - fluid level is correct, and fluid is a nice red colour. -
'Invisible' Drivers.. 23 Sep 2002 (Forum)
The headrest was set to its lowest position, but with no sign of the driver's head.Could it be James Bond's latest remote-controlled car? I eventually overtook, and saw that the driver was an old lady whose eyes were level with the bottom of the driver's window, and thus below the instrument 'binnacle', - she could only have been able to see the roofs of cars ahead. -
5 series or A6 2 Mar 2002 (Forum)
I am hoping to buy either a BMW 5 series or an Audi A6 up to four years old with around 60,000 miles, or thereabout. I don't do a lot of miles (around 10,000 a year), hence I think I will be quite satisfied with petrol engined cars, ie. 520/523 and 1.8T respectively. Anyone out there who has had experience with both cars? -
MercedesE320 - Courtesy Cars/Rip Offs 5 Dec 2012 (Forum)
My Mercedes was hit amidships on passenger side today by an old boy who drove his Skoda straight out of a side road without stopping. He admitted liability. My insurance co has offered a courtesy car but I have heard horror stories about the innocent party being stuck for huge bills for courtesy car hire. -
Hyundai ix35 - Battery problems, 3 years old 30 May 2017 (Forum)

Any - Left Hand Drive Cheapo MPV wanted for Portugal 26 Aug 2011 (Forum)
The problem is that to buy a car in Portugal has a major headache - they have an extortionate tax system which means that cars from new have 100% tax applied. Imported cars from other countries have a sliding scale discount dependent mainly on age applied, but caps out at 51% after 5 years old.
