  When I turned the power steering the fan slowed down so assumed the battery was doing all the work. Parked the car up, turned off the engine (everything working as you’d expect). Popped the bonnet to connect to the battery charger and noticed the aux belt had snapped.

  When I first made an attempt to get it started after a few months out of action it had a flat battery after first thinking it was the engine immobiliser (and paying for the eka code and using the key turn sequence). Once that was charged, I got everything up and running, new battery in key fob and alarm reactivated ok.

  Hi All, I had a problem with my Gen2 2006 Prius, water getting into the spare tyre well, and more alarmingly, into the Aux battery (12v) well - about halfway up in both instances. I wanted to post this in case this could help anyone else in a similar situation - it’s well worth taking the time to check the spare wheel well for water.

  When I went out to check nothing was left switched on and locked the car again they were still lit. The next day the car would not start as the battery was dead (it was 3+ years old and the weather was very cold so this probably did not help). Afetr fitting a new battery all was well. Radio worked and clock/temp display went off when car was locked.

  This is my first car which i brought in July 2010. (51 Reg 1.6 VTR Coupe) When purchased i was aware that i could not operate the central locking remotley due the the battery in the keyfob being flat. The central locking works manualy with no problems, but i wanted to get it to work remotely. I brought a new battery for the key fob and still the central locking did not work.
