Skoda Octavia 1.9TDi PD Ambiente - Turbo Failure VAG (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda)1.9TDi PD 12 Aug 2012 (Forum)
The car is probably only worth £4000, so basically it's half the value of the car! I have heard that this particular Volkswagon Audi Group (VAG) turbo design has a known design fault, but VAG are not admitting to it. The design fault is this: The turbo relies entirely on engine oil to spin freely, it has no additional bearings, just oil. -
Any - New car sales 9 Sep 2023 (Forum)

The total market is ~7.5% below pre-pandemic levels. -
Citreon picasso - Advice on a car that fits 3 isofix 3 Jul 2023 (Forum)
Or is there any better 3 isofix cars or 3 adult seats out there? I ideally would of prefered sticking with BMW, Audi or Seat but not sure if any of these have 3 adult seats? -
Genesis 25 Aug 2021 (Forum)
It led to a series of interesting, slightly left field choices which followed, from Volvo 240 GLT, 440 Turbo, Audi 80 16v Sport and Honda Civic VTi. He didn’t half waste money on cars from that Saab onwards but I am today grateful that he did. -

Car lease - any recommended websites? 26 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Hi all, I have always looked for car lease deals that cost between £250 to £300 a month with minimum initial payment that get me a car costs £38k to £40k to buy. I stumbled across an Audi A6 that fits my criteria by luck. But I wonder if there is any website out there that places heavy emphasise on this kind of value-to-money deals please? In the other words, I hope that a website can show the retail price of the car right next to the monthly rental cost on the, say, "Deal of the weeks" home page so that a quick comparison can be made without the need of clicking through few steps to find out. -
Cars with electric parking brakes - Another hurdle for DIYers 2 Mar 2020 (Forum)
My 2005 Audi A8 is in need of new brake pads. On U-tube the fronts look as easy to do as any other pad change, but the rears apparently need electronic deactivation of the EPB otherwise you knacker the mechanism when winding back the caliper pistons. -
N/A - New tyre tread depth 3 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I recently had fitted what I thought was a set of mid-range tyres (Firestone Roadhawk) at a Halfords Autocentre for my old Audi A3 and subsequently found that their tread depth is only 6mm, i.e. 4.4mm of useable tread. That’s more than 30% less usable tread compared with what I thought was the norm of 8mm. The above is in the HJ agony column today. -
No front number plate a new trend? 24 May 2018 (Forum)
There are a number of clapped out Audi / BMWs in the area I live all driven with a complete disregard for any highway code and the front number plate on the dash board. Is this a new trend ? has this replaced "fog lights on in broad day light"? -
Fords and Toyotas - which type of automatic? 20 Jul 2017 (Forum)
From what I know, Volvos, BMWs, Mercedes, Mazdas, JLRs, Kias, Hyundais and most other big cars have TQ autos, and newer Hondas have CVT. Only the biggest Audis have CVT, otherwise it's DSG throughout the VW Group. Fords and Toyotas seem to vary - so which have TQ autos and which have Powershift and MMI respectively? And is it only smaller Vauxhalls which have that dreadful Easytronic jerkbox? -
Any - Adverts put me off cars 25 Oct 2016 (Forum)
There are at least two radio ads at the moment that have completely put me off any thoughts of buying the featured cars due to the wording in the ad. One is for the Jaguar XE and the other for the Audi A4. The ads make a big thing about the low monthly payments and then the very last words at the end of the rushed terms and conditions is "Business users only". Now, I know what sort of monthly payments the normal man in the street would be making for these cars so know this is a business rate. -
Colchester - Why do bus drivers jump lights and block box juncs 12 May 2016 (Forum)

Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion - BlueMotion Golf alternative - need advice asap! 17 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I've been offered a BlueMotion golf as my company car and while I understand the MPG is fantastic, performance wise it's not even as fast as my current 53 plate Audi A3 2.0 petrol - and that's saying something. I'm looking for a car in a similar price bracket (up to £21k probably) that is efficient but also a bit fun to drive to give alternative suggestions to the BlueMotion. -

Any - Is there are a directory of start/stop 21 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Has anyone compiled a directory of makes/models that have been offered with start/stop? Cars I could be interested in: Audi A3, Seat Leon, VW Golf, VW Scirocco Citroen C4, Peugeot 307 or 308 BMW 1 series Volvo C30 Need to find something under £10K, so something that has been around a few years would be of interest, newer models won't be in my price range range yet Guy -
New "A" Class. 15 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Maybe it will look better when finally launched but it looks like a typical Euro box with nothing in common with its larger stablemetes. A bit dissapointing as I was underwhelmed with the Audi A1 styling as well. Oh well, back to the Far east! -
Alfa, Volvo, Citroen, Peugeot - I- Spy new cars 27 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I have wondered whether Alfa's new Giulietta is a success so far, as I have yet to see one in the flesh. Lots of Mitos but nothing else. Likewise the newer Volvo S60, no sign yet. I did see my first Audi A1 last weekend in my local Waitrose car park, which seemed appropriate somehow. Whereas in France this week I saw the new Peugeot 508 - nice from the front, ungainly from the rear I thought - and the new Citroen C4, which looked quite nice, which in the sector it belongs doesn't seem enough. -
German cars bad? 15 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I have recently heard about German cars being bad poor quality at a high price. If I was buying on the intentions of a runabout less than £1500 & I found a VW Golf or Audi A3 which was cheaper than a Ford Focus with similar mileage & year I would rather get the German car. However lots of people are saying they are now rubbish & are turning to Ford & Vauxhall & French cars etc.
