  I have a guy working with me at the moment, he drives a Defender with (I believe) the 300tdi engine.  Yesterday, it sprung a fuel leak just as he arrived - diagnosed as a problem with fuel lift pump.  He got a replacement and set about fitting it today.   After a lot of arguing with an almost completely inaccessible bolt, he eventually got it swapped over and went to start it.

  She doesn't appear to be losing power but I wouldn't 100% know as I've only just started to drive her. She has had new fuel and a fuel filter and have done roughly 150miles so old fuel should be gone. I've added redex as well. I've just changed the spark plugs and still no change. Tomorrow will be the ignition leads and then coil pack.

  Recently while out on a run (after 15 miles or so, engine nice and warm) it suddenly started cutting out on idle, and when I investigated further I saw fuel gushing out of the float chamber breather hole. Panic! I managed to get home safely by using the fuel tank tap to throttle the fuel entering the float chamber to match consumption, but now I have a problem to fix.

  I would like 4WD as an extra luxury due to some of the places I go but can live without it if necessary so long as I'm careful where I park up. Obviously a petrol 4WD is going to be greedy on fuel but providing it isn't too bad I reckon I can live with it. That said, I did have a 4WD CRV petrol on an 02 plate and it was horrendous on fuel. From a full tank, after 270 miles the low fuel light was back on and it was back to the filliing station for me!

  From the above comparison, IMO, Suzuki's overall approach to making small cars is far superior to Kia/Hyundai's. The latter promises good fuel economy but doesn't deliver it. Suzuki does.

  Yesterday I took the car to a registered garage (Not Honda garage) for full service, All the service parts used including engine oil is from Honda dealer. The only item could not be replaced is fuel filter as the mechanic could not open the fuel filter housing cap so he removed the housing from the car and try opening it,  he did not want to apply extra force in case it break the housing which would cost £300 for the unit so the housing was put back without changing the fuel filter.
