  • Oil changes 28 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I see that someone (in Saturday's Telegraph) has had the temerity to challenge HJ's advice about the frequency of oil changes (a braver man than me, evidently!). The fool goes on to suggest that his Skoda Octavia is fine with its oil changes at 20,000 miles. What I should like to know

  • Oil filter change 29 Dec 2001 (Forum)
I have always in the past, (with older cars) after changing the oil filter, immobilised the ignition and spun the engine over for a few seconds in order to get the oil pressure up, before starting the engine properly. Is this good practice with a Cat, or am I in danger of flooding it with fuel? I
  • Oil change? 16 Jul 2006 (Forum)
My less-than 20,000 mile Almera has done nearly 5,000 miles since its last service. The service interval is 9,000 miles, but that feels to me like a long time to run on the same oil. I'm no mechanic, but I do know that on diesels, frequent oil changes are one of the most crucial parts
