  Am looking to buy a BMW 3 series touring and have seen identical spec cars in 320d and 335d flavours. I'm really tempted with the 335d as it's quite an incredible performer for a diesel and I always thought I'd get one when I could.

  I purchased BMW 320i 2006 47k mileage end of June this year, then the engine light started flashing after 3 weeks, returned it back to the garage (3 months warranty) after 4-5 weeks. tried to fix it. the verdict is the car will need a reconditioned engine. it has been more than 130 days and still I have not had my car back (had a courtesy car during this time).

  I brought the issue to the attention of the dealership soon after taking delivery of the car and they referred the matter to BMW. BMW responded by saying that as the seat is as designed and has no technical flaws there is nothing they can do. I'm a little over average height and of average build so no issues with fitting into the car but I'm close to the point of changing the car for something else but don't want the resultant financial hit.

    The car also had a noticeable lack of performance and the rpm did not increase immediately when i put my foot down.  The engine just sounded wrong.  I took it to the BMW dealership here in Bristol and the advised it was the throttle control mechanism/valve.  This was replaced at a cost of £730 and it has NOT fixed the problem.  The dealership are in touch with BMW 'technical' for advice but they cannot locate the source of the problem.

  We have to drive up a North facing steep side road that is never treated, normally the rear wheel driven BMW cannot get up the slope, now it just drives up without any difficulty. The tyres have managed all the local snow covered hills with ease they seem as good as any 4 wheel drive. Thanks for the advice the wheels and tyres cost £479 money well spent for the mobility that it maintains.

  Hi all, Could anybody help me with a query please? I have a BMW 320D Sport (2004),  I bought it with about 60k on the clock ,  it now has 121k on it.  The car runs fine and I have had no problems with it except that around 100k I noticed a funny noise when the car is in neutral with the clutch released.

  We've got a Jaguar XF 3.0d twin turbo on trial at the moment. All I can say is wow! This car is absolutely amazing. I'm a huge fan of the BMW 530d and they make a great patrol car. However, the Jag absolutely blows the BMW away. I've never driven a diesel car that has the poise, acceleration or stability of this car. The interior is superb and feels very well put to together.
