  Hyundai eventually got someone to open up a car, again from inside, it was raining, then left us, waited, ignored, receptionist busy chatting, gave up. Skoda, wanted a manual, only had automatic, aggressively asked why I didn't want an automatic, everyone has an automatic. Will you be getting a manual? don't know... Can you access central stock? I will have to log on to a computer... Could you then?

  I have a Fiat Stilo Abarth with driving wheel on the left (I live in Valencia, Spain).  The car is great but for the automatic gearbox which my local official Fiat garage does not know how to fix. The car stops dead when I reduce speed from 5th gear,  when I go over a bump, or tram-lines.  I can usually get it going again, burt now it has stopped altogether.

  previous post summary: Hi I have managed to save £3000 for a car, i cant afford anymore,  it needs to be automatic,  Under 1.6 preferably  Main use is school run, shopping, afterschool activities  I hardly ever drive on motorways  I do not drive fast  I have one child who is 7, we often have his cousins, so  5 seats- our last car only had 4 seats so was not good for us (Suzuki wagon)  Not fussed on frills, just something that hopefully will be reliable for next few school years  Any advice or recommendations welcome, thanks

  Ocacasionally when I start the car the accelerator while depressed does not increase the engine revs, it sits at idle ticking over. I'm able to select all gears and as it is an automatic I am able to move the car at the base level of revs, however I can't drive due to problem. Within  a few mins of moving back and forth it seems to correct itself and everything is fine. I am however obviously concerned that at some point it will not correct and would like to address.

    Considered the Honda Jazz but only the previous model just replaced with the brand new hybrid. Some mixed reports of the CVT in that though on how it revs and drives different to normal automatics. I think Ford now fit decent automatics to the Fiesta which might be a safe option.
