  • mazda 6 2008 - Mazda Campaign - Finally get heard? 7 May 2010 (Forum)
Honestly, I can go on. I have been without my car for 10 months now and its sitting on my drive un-drivable mainly because me and my family are NOT getting in a car that can/would kill us. I have a strong set of research and public that is already backing me up in relation to Mazda's lies & money grabbing techniques.
  • Is the Honda Jazz known for having a particularly stiff handbrake? 4 Jun 2010 (Ask HJ)
My parents, both fit and strong, though of a late 1920s and 1930s vintage, cannot apply the handbrake of their Honda Jazz sufficiently hard to stop it...
  • Fabia Elegance Estate 105 CR TDi - HARSH RIDE FABIA 12 Oct 2010 (Forum)
I bought a Fabia Elegance Estate 105bhp Tdi in July,  to replace my 8 year old 1.9 Tdi.  What a difference! The new car is fitted with Dunlop Sport Maxx 205/45/R16 83W (168mph rated tyes) which give an appallingly harsh, jittery & noisy ride. This is the only wheel/tyre size available on the Elegance, although the identical car with an SE trim, is supplied with 195/55 R15 85H as standard, but with the option to "upgrade" to 205/45/R16.

  • A dealer lied about the condition of a car I bought. What do I do? 28 Oct 2020 (Ask HJ)
When I bought a used car recently, I asked about the MOT and was told it was done on the 7 October. I then asked about advisories and was told it had none....
  • Jaguar S-Type (1999 - 2007) - Long term running report on an 04 diesel auto. 1 Aug 2008 (Forum)
s sold back to the dealer it came from, they valued it as a buy in with 84K miles at £7K but actually gave me £10K for it against another S So to overall costs, including 4 x tyres, insurance, finance costs It has cost 29 pence per mile if you use the £10K valuation or 37 PPM if you use £7K. I loved it to bits & it has to be the first car I?ve EVER owned where I was happy to buy the same again & have just done so (details later!)
  • BMW 1 Series E81/E87 (2004 - ) - 120D SE : 6000 mile ownership report 20 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Economy, however, has been slightly disappointing at an average of 42 mpg. It is possible to improve significantly on this figure on a ?steady run?, as they used to say. BMW diesels may be much smoother, quieter and more refined than VW group units, but they are certainly not as efficient. The car handles, stops and steers quite brilliantly. The brakes are extremely powerful and reassuring, and feel like they have been transplanted from a much larger and more expensive car.
  • Who's to blame and what redress do I have and with whom? 18 May 2010 (Ask HJ)
I bought a Citroen Berlingo 1.9 Diesel van on a 52-plate (2002) with 89,200 miles from a local garage on the 30th March 2010. Within the first week, the...
  • Mini Cooper S Coupe - Second hand car problems from purchase 30 Nov 2013 (Forum)
On the Monday I contacted the garage and it was booked in for the Wednesday 27 th November, I took the car in the previous day so that it would sit overnight and the brakes would be heard at their worst. Unfortunately the vehicle was taken in and started work on that afternoon. When I picked up the vehicle I was shocked when I asked if all was repaired to be told that the brakes were not done as they are not under warranty.
  • The AA breakdown service 4 Sep 2014 (Ask HJ)
Is the AA's breakdown service regulated by any organisation?? Their website proudly boasts that they are regulated by the FCA but this does not cover...
  • Pandemic bargains 6 May 2021 (Forum)
I thought we’d see loads of cars offloaded through lack of use and lack of funds but instead dealers have been sitting on stock to hold prices up. I have been of late rather busy with requests to both find and sell cars for people and despite dealers being a bit unrealistic regarding prices there are still bargains to be had, here’s a few I’ve bought.
  • Ford Fiesta - Ford Fiesta 1.0L 125 Clutch Problem 1 Feb 2019 (Forum)
I'll also mention that I haven't smelt burning sound when I hear that whining/groaning/staining sound.  My previous car (Peugeot 206 1.6 16v xsi) 110bhp,  I drove that car from 2nd hand at 50k miles to 100k miles, all with the same clutch from new, and ragged that thing, would do hard launches at lights etc, that car has very similar 0-60 time  as this Fiesta,  slower by 0.2 seconds.
  • new driving article? 24 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I know many many owners who initially loved the car but are extremely disappointed and some quite angry with the quality of the build, and a fair number of people who've had their car taken back with the US "Lemon Law". Had I been not well treated by my dealer I would be in the same position and be taking a closer look at the lemon law for myself.
  • Car breakdown woes 19 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I pointed out that I had four passengers and enough luggage to fill the [Estate car] and a 350 litre roofbox! In the end, I was given a 307 SW, which was only just adequate as other friends joined us with a second car. I didn?t get back to my friends until nearly 3 pm ? one day ruined, as they could have spent time in Grenoble had we known where the car was coming from.
  • Garage trying it on. What do I do next? 29 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Took my Almera in today for its annual service, at a franchised Nissan dealer. Not in my town, but not too far away, and they are part of the same group I bought the car from. The car is 5 years old net week, and therefore 2 years out of warranty, so I should probably have gone to an independent, but I didn't. I stuck with the same franchised dealer I had used all along.
  • VAG - EURO5 DPF info 6 May 2017 (Forum)
This should prevent unnecessary repeat visits for regeneration purposes. I have also found that as the car gets older 30K+ miles, you will notice that the regeneration takes place more often. ALWAYS, check your oil before any long journey, as DPF regeneration can use a fair bit of oil.      Interesting how low a speed active regen needs.
  • Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - 105TDi - the first 30/90 (months/k miles) 21 Mar 2008 (Forum)
According to the ADAC tyre test for my 195/60x15s, the only tyre appreciably quieter than the rest was the Pirelli ? but it was also appreciably the least economical?. The car is on longlife servicing (it?s a lease car). First service came up as due at 18600 miles, which happens to be 30k km. I had used just the litre of longlife liquid gold that had come with the car ? and it wasn?
  • A popular car in Iraq... 24 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Kuwait is a Gulf Cooperation Country (GCC) where unleaded use is now compulsory and all new cars are fitted with catalysts and unleaded spec engines. Another European embassy has blown up the engine of their new (unarmoured) EEC-spec Isuzu Trooper V6 after driving it at full throttle for hours on end, on mid-70s octane fuel, evading an old BMW 735i full of Iraqis waving guns out of the window on the main road back to Jordan (they escaped).
  • A new motor for Daveyjp 5 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Four wheel drive may also come in handy and whilst its nice to have I hope I never need the 5 year warranty. Tax is slightly higher, but I saved more than enough on my insurance to cover the difference, which surprised me. On the 50 mile trip back from picking the car up – about 35 miles of motorway, it recorded 53.3mpg – the B did 44mpg on the trip down.
  • 16 important OIL questions answered! 8 Jan 2013 (Forum)
used in road cars, but 0W/20 is not mentioned in the user handbooks, so there is always some warranty risk. Honda is perhaps the only exception! 13) How does a high-performance oil allow the motor to produce more power?
