Citroen C5 2003 - Citroen Poor Starting 5 Dec 2014 (Forum)
The problem seems worse in extreme temperatures i.e. very hot or very cold. Dont'know alot about diesel engines but seems like poor compression? Fuel starvation? Fuel pump seals? Once the engine is started it drives perfectly...... All suggestions welcome. Thanks. -

Small turbos? 2 Apr 2014 (Forum)
On paper, it sounds amazing, but I wonder what they are like in the real world. Is their performance that good and is their fuel consumption comparable to a normal engine? The only turbo I have driven is a Fiat TwinAir. I didn't really enjoy driving it and owners were reporting high fuel consumption. If I remember correctly you had to either completely abuse it for good performance (and high consumption) or you had to labour it and have no power, there seem to be nothing in the middle which is what I want for every day driving. -
Vauxhall Mokka 1.4 turbo 4×4 - can I use Shell Vpower in my new Mokka 3 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I am about to take delivery of a Mokka 1.4 turbo and have contacted Vauxhall Uk about using Vpower in this vehicle as the manual reccomends 95 octane or possibly 98 octane whilst Vpower is 99 octane. They have informed me that the use of this fuel could invalidate any warranty in the event of any future engine problems. Bearing in mind Honestjohn recommending this fuel on a number of occasions c an anyone advise accordingly. -
FIAT Doblo - Diesel van fuelled with petrol instead of petrol 15 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Has since driven van and has received conflicting advice on what to do: one garage says to have tank and fuel system drained; another independent machanic says it is OK to continue driving but not to over-rev and to add upper cylinder lubricant periodically. Is it not the diesel fuel pump which is vulnerable to petrol because it does not contain oil lubricant? -

Tbd - Best car for high mpg when driving at 85mph 16 May 2013 (Forum)
I currently drive a '98 Mondeo 2.0 which has 140,000 miles on the clock and is very reliable but only delivers 31mpg. That's a lot of petrol to buy every year. Any recommendations for the most fuel efficient car for my needs? Also, any thoughts on what would be the lowest total cost (purchase, depreciation and fuel) for my needs? Suggestions greatly appreciated Many thanks -

Ford - All - Ford Endura DE 1.8 non-start 14 Nov 2011 (Forum)
This at first did not achieve anything, BUT then a split was spotted in a small hose on the drivers side of the block. It was taken off, and when cranking fuel started to sputter from it. The end was snipped off, and it was re-attached to the spigot. Started first go. :o) I can only assume that was a diesel supply/return line, and the split had caused an air lock/fuel to return to the tank. -
Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec Petrol - Ford Focus (2000 X reg) Running Lumpy 27 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi, My focus has started having a problem where it runs lumpy, the symptoms I have are: Fuel Gauge is inaccurate and only moves between 1/4 and 1/2 When petrol tank is fuel the car feels like it's holding back above 5,000 RPM When petrol is low the car won't gain any power when starting uphill and just limps, this also happens when driving normally and can be difficult to start. -
Mileage and the subsequent panicking 3 Jun 2011 (Forum)
This thread is by way of The_Grouch's 'how many miles...' thread. How far can you get AFTER your fuel light comes on or your needle is at zero? This'll be akin to a straw poll of various marques. My Mazda's fuel gauge is terrible and I am too afraid of breaking down on my commute to let it drop below 1/6th of a tank. -
Mercedes-Benz E-Class W123 - Mercedes W123 Pierburg 175CD Carburettor 14 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I have a 1985 W123 running on M102 2.0 engine on Pierburg 175CD carburettor with a red damper cover. I notice that my car is severely underpower and heavy on fuel (less than 18MPG average). Also, when i accelerate in full, there will be a lot of black smake coming out from the exhaust. Ive adjusted the air/fuel mixture on the warm water autochoke but is still the same.
