Need a new to me car 1 Sep 2024 (Forum)
Has consistently returned approx. 54mpg using it on trips to Birmingham 5 days a week, and at least 2 motorway journeys a month either to a friends who lives on the outskirts of Solihull, or a family member who lives on the outskirts of Sutton Coldfield. Having had diesels all my life, and towing caravans and driving horseboxes since in my mid 20's, now find the prospect of getting a 'new to me' car - especially a petrol one. We don't like an uncomfortable ride, but cannot afford luxury and MPG is important to us. -
Do I need a 4x4 and if so PHEV, MHEV or diesel? 26 May 2024 (Forum)
My area is prone to flooding, I have to go down very small single track lanes to get my child to school and back (over a bridge which floods more and more regularly), we often have to park in fields for events and we are always being pushed or towed off. I am now searching for my next vehicle. I do 12,000 miles a year, 20 miles commute 3 times a week and several motorway trips all over to friends etc. I like the boot space of the karoq as we often go camping, cycling etc. -
Landrover Discover 5 HSE Luxury 3 years - Windscreen sealant failure - serious leak 4 Dec 2023 (Forum)
We cannot fit our holiday kit in the Tucson and there is still no date provided for our windscreen - not even an estimated one. What can I do? We can’t tow our caravan, we can’t fit our roof rails or bike rack to the Tucson. I feel I bought a great family car but it has been unusable for getting on for 3 months with no end in sight. I feel powerless and unable to do anything - can you advise with any options I could ask for? -
BMW 1 Series - Faulty car - engine light issue 4 Mar 2023 (Forum)

MINI Cooper S R56 - MINI Cooper S Timing Chain Failure 21 Oct 2019 (Forum)
The AA came out, looked at it, decided he reckoned the timing chain had snapped, as it appears the top end isn't turning, and towed it home for us, since most garages were shut for the holiday weekend. I've spoken today, with the service manager at the MINI garage, who tells me their warranty advisor is off today, so he'll speak to him tomorrow and get back to me about the best way forward. -
Peugeot 306 1.9td - Peugeot 306 STOP light and radiator fan problem 20 Sep 2019 (Forum)
The passenger side radiator fan kicks in and out on what seems to be a high speed when the A/C is on, but not when the A/C is off. The temperature gauge stays around 75 degrees all the time, except if I'm towing, it can rise if going up a long steep hill with a heavy load. Here's what I have done so far: I cleaned my bitron units connections and even tried another 2nd hand unit, but no change. -
Seat Ibiza 2018 (18) - Seat - Approved used under Warranty - Rejection ? 2 Aug 2019 (Forum)
It still has 1 year 8 months remaining warranty and has been in my possession 4.5 months. It's had two tow-away repair's undertaken by two different dealerships (not the purchasing dealership mind) for major faults. The first was 3 months into ownership, and the second was 2 weeks after that first date. Neither main dealer has successfully fixed the issue in question and its becoming very unreliable, having been in to these two garages for a week each time. -
Nissan Pathfinder 2.2 TDI 2005 plate - Head or Head gasket gone less than 3 months... 13 Jun 2018 (Forum)
I get this could be a thermostat issue or a split pipe, however I am steeling myself for the worst. I’ve contact the garage this morning and the car is being towed back to there for them to have a look at. My concern is two fold: 1 – Having moved house in between collecting the car and now, I cant find the invoice he gave me. 2 – Where do I stand if he refuses to honour the warranty? -
Peugeot 207S 1,4CC- 2008 - Peugeot 207S 2008 water in ECU problem 23 Feb 2018 (Forum)
5 mechanics and 6 different RAC callout mechanics confirmed water in ECU but non can find where nor how the water is getting in to the ECU or where it is coming from. I have broken down on numerous occasions and in dangerous situation and had to pay to be towed home on each occasion. I have read on dozens of sites like this that there could be several different causes - even getting a new loom costing £1500 did not work for some. I have tried drying out the ECU couplings and blowing out them out dry, This worked for 1 day and the car chugged to a halt again and would not drive and found water again in the coupling wells (happens in dry weather conditions too). -
Looking for cheap reliable Japanese car for my gf 14 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Another thing is most official car review websites seem to state at least 4/5 stars for reliability for most cars stating reliability should be good. However this is not what you here from garages and people from the RAC who come to tow your car! I think they may only look at within warranty failures etc. We need a car which will go on for a while without too much trouble. Thanks in advance -
Chrysler Voyager - car keeps breaking down with no prior warning when driving along 26 Sep 2017 (Forum)
This could be 10 miles from home to 100 miles away from home it just so unpredictable as it happens without any notice, i think this is extremely dangerous as if i was on the motor way my car just stops dead without any notice I tried a new fuel filter but the same kept happening i had it towed to a garage where they put the machine on a diagnostic machine - everything came back fine?? Although the mechanic could hear the tank kicking in he said that the fuel pressure was low- later found out this was due to a crack in the fuel filter housing and leaking, got this changed with a brand new hosuing unit but still no joy We have had a new fuel pump (the one underneath the car next to the tank) fitted drove perfect for a day seemed to have more power then 10 minutes from home the following day the same happened again :( my husband says when it breaks down it always seems as if the car is out of fuel (diesel) although we never let the car get below a quarter of a tank. -
Peugeot expert Hdi 2002 - Peugeot expert fault, need an experts input ! 18 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Ok here goes, had this van for years, first got it it went like a rocket ship but not now, about 3 years ago van wouldn't start, Peugeot specialist diagnosed as ecu fault do replaced ecu and all was good, about a year later under hard load it would cut out, and illuminate elm light, restart after 5 seconds and run fine till the fault re occurred, this got more frequent until I was towing a car home and had to disconnect fuel rail sensor to get home, went to start van one day and it wouldn't start, looked on forum and tried double pin relay, connector was damaged so I wired up new relays and the van would run again, still in limp mode with fuel rail sensor disconnected, got a scrap car to swap bits over from and here's where I am now, Swapped injectors Swapped rail sensor Swapped for And it was still no better so I assumed the worst and changed high pressure pump, van started up and eml came straight on, yeah still in limp mode so I took it for a brief drive, cleared fuel rail pressure sensor fault and it wouldn't clear, turned van off to check fuel rail sensor wiring ( one pin earth, middle pin 9.3v with ignition on and other pin 4.98v, thought the 9.3 reading was strange so traced wiring to check for damage but seems ok, went to fire van back up and it won't start Fault codes p1135, p1517, p0234, p1100, p0380, p1138 all return after cranking and p0190 won't clear, please help
