Tesco extended car warranty 19 Mar 2009 (Forum)
However I came across this warranty from Tesco - £259 - seems pretty comprehensive and covers wear and tear. http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/motoring/car-warranty-plan/policy-doc.jsp Anyone had any experience with Tesco or tried to make a claim? Is it worth taking out an extended warranty? Car in question is a Citroen C4 - 50,000 miles - currently do around 15k a year. -
Hyundai i10 (2008 - ) - Good deal? 30 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Anyhow, had a look at an i10, she likes it. Anyway, salesman was very helpful, said he would get some quick figures for finance and to me, they sounded a bit too good to be true. They have a demo 1.2 Comfort auto, in silver on a 58 plate with 1000 miles on it. The figures were: £169 pm for 36 months with £182 final payment and £2000 for my misses Picanto. -
How long would you expect a 2K car to last? 18 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Hi All Hard times are here but I need to buy a bigger car for cash (i.e definately no finance). I have 2K. This gets an 01, maybe 02, Megane/Mondeo/Vectra sized car .... probably 70,000 miles plus on the clock. So how long do cars last these days ? Does 100K or 10 years still mean the end even with a good history ? -
Dealer charges - is this right? 14 Mar 2007 (Forum)
The salesman stated that there is a £49 fee which is to be used to see if there is any outstanding finance on my vehicle. Does this sound right? I can't rememeber paying such a fee when i bought my last car. Also, when i bought i bought my last car, i part-exed and paid the balance in cash, i still have all the invoices, could i not produce these to the dealer to save paying this fee? -
Views on the Mercedes B-class? 8 Mar 2006 (Forum)
With thanks to those who responded to my last thread, I have just about resolved to keep my much-loved Audi (which is two this week) for another 6-12 months, in the hope that its value will sink at a lower rate than the amount owed under the PCP - thus creating a deposit on a new one. But then - there is a very good finance deal going on the Mercedes B-class (M-B put up a deposit and there's a 2.9 % APR) which would involve monthly payments about £120 less than I'm paying for the Audi. Tempting? Road tests are lukewarm, mainly on cost grounds: I don't think deals like this happen very often with Mercedes. -
goodbye......but...... 9 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Hi all, Just a few questions to ask; I will be going to live with my girlfriend in Hong Kong for 6-12months or better for good! only if i can sort out a job there, my main concerns are: 1) My car is still on finance, i have at least another 12months to pay it off 2) The car first MOT is in April and also at the same time is my insurance I think i will payoff my car before i leave, just want to know whether is was legal to leave my car without MOT and insurance until i come back to the UK, ideal i would like to keep the car just incase things don't work out overthere in terms of a full time job. -
Rover for Yaris 9 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I reckon if she can get this down to £5000 this would work out about right. What are the backrooms thoughts? There would be no finance involved. The part exchange is the critcial point, but if that offer isn't attractive we would consider a private sale. Any thoughts would be welcomed... Paul C -
Junk Phone Calls 16 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Don't take no for an answer, badger them for an appointment and ask about their low interest long term finance option, lifetime gaurantee etc. Do it right and you can have a little fun before they finally hang up on you. Salespersons are trained to overcome resistance, hit them with the unexpected and they crumble. -

Private Cash for Public Roads 23 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Part of the solution was to move more people and goods onto the rail network, Mr Cameron said, "but also to widen pinch points, add lanes to motorways by using the hard shoulder to increase capacity and dual overcrowded A-roads". But the prime minister said "innovative approaches" were needed to finance road improvements at a time of tight government finances. "Road tolling is one option - but we are only considering this for new, not existing, capacity. For example, we're looking at how improvements to the A14 could be part-funded through tolling. -

Vauxhall Astra Elite - Dealer promised to fix car, and now refusing... 2 May 2018 (Forum)
Dealer promises to get everything fixed, all scratches polished out, interior cleaned etc. So I agree, pay a furtherv1250v deposit, very reticently to sign finance for car and take it under the proviso that I'll be bringing back 3 days later to get fixed at workshops etc. I get dealer and his boss (said he was his boss but unsure) to sign the paperwork with the major works to carry out.
