Land Rover Defender (1946 - ) - Land Rover or other 4X4 for a smallholding? 27 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Rip out the rear seats, blank out the windows, and I've got a low-cost towcar/van. 2) Keep the Almera, and get an old Land Rover for agricultural and towing use. A friend's son recommends a LR 90 200TDI, on the grounds that their lack of an ECU makes them simpler to maintain. 3) Sod the road tax, and get a LWB Pajero/Shogun or a Toyota Hilux Surf and get rid of the car 4) Compromise on a soft-roader like a Suzuki Grand Vitara (2.0 diesel is a more manageable ? -
Ford Fiesta - Fiesta EAC FAIL 28 Sep 2015 (Forum)
They did a lot of checking and were convinced it was not the tps but first suggested that I needed a new ECU. I immediately got suspicious and lead them to believe that I wouldn't pay to replace that, even though if I knew that was definitely the problem, I probably would. He kept the car overnight because the following day he said they had a ford technician going in to try and sell them some diagnostic equipment. -

Skoda Yeti - My third Yeti 22 Sep 2015 (Forum)
It had a few minor issues during its time with me: new cam position sensor ECU flash (went wrong an immobilised the car) timing chain was becoming increasingly noisy (especially on cold start-up) The fuel economy was disappointing and the car was truly dreadful in snow - wide tyres (Pirelli P Zero Rosso) / light front end. -
Peugeot 207 1.6Hdi 110bhp Sport - 35,095miles - DPF Removal 16 Oct 2012 (Forum)
, but they also bore into & damaged the car's catalytic convertor! Apart from this, they explained to me that s******* Ltd's employee who supposedly carried out the ECU remapping, had increased some of the vehicle's values by between 15 to 17% and, had I continued to drive my car in that condition, I would have done irreparable damage to it which would have resulted in thousands of £s to fix or, at worst, to completely scrap my car! -
Subaru Forester - First 2 months and 2,000 miles of ownership 27 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Over the first few weeks I was really disappointed with the drive. It hesitated when I tried to take off, It seemed to kangaroo after gear changes. It has two ECU modes - I for “intelligent” and S for “sport”. I tried changing between the two, but no difference. I was when looking through the manual I found the suggested gear change speeds – in essence you need to keep the revs at about 2,000. -

Cyclist curfew 11 Jan 2013 (Forum)
destination=node%2F48199%23comment-form">register to post comments michael knight An Alternative 8 hours 1 min ago James...how about an alternative approach; any motor vehicle driving within a town/city centre is automatically slowed to a maximum 20mph. No idea how to do it, some kind of ECU-jamming perhaps.. but imagine the improvement in our environments. Safety, noise, emissions all improved. As for your initial question. No. But as a cyclist myself there's no excuse for not having lights.
