  • Front end shunt: cheap repairs? 26 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Or might I be better trying to get it fixed up cheaper elsewhere. Maybe by buying new headlamps from a Nissan main dealer and getting a bonnet from a scrap yard? Advice welcomed. I will have to call the insurance people tomorrow (Direct Line) and decide whether to get their repairers involved. Mike
  • Most disappointing car. 25 Sep 2025 (Forum)
I’ve driven countless cars over the years, from Fiat Panda 750 to McLaren 570S through luxury saloons and knackered hatchbacks. But what was the most disappointing car I’ve ever driven? Was it the Nissan Bluebird ZX Turbo that was about as sporty as Nora Batty despite the bright red paint and spoiler kit? Or the horrible Mk V Ford Escort that everyone loved to hate? I think it has to be the Ford Capri.
  • Skoda Fabia SE - Emissions and road tax 16 Feb 2024 (Forum)
I own the above Skoda model registered in 2014. It has a 3-cylinder 1198cc engine. A friend of mine owns a 2014 Nissan Note Acenta Premium DIG-S which also has a 3-cylinder 1198cc engine. Because his emits only 99g/Km it falls into band A and he pays no road tax. My car produces 128g/Km (band D) which costs me £150.
  • First cars 2 Jun 2021 (Forum)
Me, I turned down the sensible options of the mint 1988 E plated one owner Rover 213S my uncle was selling and the tidy 1988 E plate VW Jetta 1.3 the local Nissan dealer had in favour of an ex office pool 1989 MG Metro that had been through every hedge in Ayrshire. It was a lesson in how not to buy a car but it taught me plenty about making do and mending. My first car taught me plenty and the nimble handling probably saved my life more than once but it was a fine example of buying with heart over head.
  • The possible uptake of British Cars - Brexit 16 Dec 2020 (Forum)
With talks still stalling and eventually we decide to pull the plug , maybe we need to take a look at what manufactures in the UK are planning in the event of a no deal. With price rises on cars imported from Europe Nissan may decide to ramp up production at Sunderland to take the place of Renault cars from France. And Toyota are well placed with production at Burnaston likely to be ramped up in the event of a no deal.
  • Toyota Hilux Ford Ranger Isuzu Rodeo - Used Crew Cab Pick UP 9 Sep 2019 (Forum)
I have a budget of about £6,000 and short listed the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger and Isuzu Rodeo/D-Max. The Nissan Navara I have ruled out due to chassis corrosion issues. Does anyone have experience with any of the makes/models I have listed? Thanks in advance.
  • Why is my car leaking oil when it’s sitting for a 13 Jul 2019 (Forum)
So I have a 2009 Nissan Sentra and I don’t drive it too much. It hasn’t been regularly driven in a few months but every month I’ll take it around the neighborhood a little. It hasn’t had an oil change obviously and the oil is pretty old in it.

  • Used car for family - £7-8k budget 5 Jan 2017 (Forum)
Finding something which is cheap to run is important and my wife is keen to get an suv so she has a better view of the road - she has been talking about a Nissan Qashquai. We have a budget of £7k although we might be able to stretch to 8K if it would make a big difference. Any advice gratefully accepted.
  • Suzuki Swift - Suzuki Swift 11 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I'm considering changing my 11 plate Micra in the next few months as it's low on driving enjoyment and would like something a bit newer and more fun to drive with similar running costs. The local Nissan dealer also sells Suzukis and Hyundais and the newer shape Swift looks quite tempting and retails for about the same as a Micra. I did have one as a courtesy car 3 years ago and found it quite good to drive if a bit stuffy without aircon( it was an SZ2).
  • Ds3 - Citroen car leasing 6 Oct 2015 (Forum)
They said the tyre tred was 1/10 th of a mm below the legal limit so made me replace two front tyres and then charge me £150 for a failed collection. I've leasing with Nissan, ford, and Renault and never had any problems.
  • Diesel tuning chips - do they work as promised? 4 Feb 2015 (Forum)
I have a Nissan Almera Tino 136 bhp 2.2 dci engined car, and was wondering about the tuning chips you see advertised for diesel cars, promising increased bhp, torque AND economy. Supposedly my car would become 170bhp, 25% increased torque and better mpg.
  • Nissa Micra 1998 1.0 litre - Removing Clutch Cable 17 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Hi Be grareful of some advice. I'm trying to remove the old clutch cable from my Nissan Micra 1998. I've diconnected it from the pedal and the clutch fork but there is a mounting bracket which the cable is also connected to which I am unable to remove it from. The bracket has a large "rubber grommet" that is grooved in the centre to fit inside the mount bracket and the cable runs through the centre of the "rubber grommet".

  • 4x4s on skinny tyres 28 Jun 2012 (Forum)
In my opinion they should have steel wheels and plenty of rubber. Let me recount the day back to front. Second one I looked at was a Nissan, it didn't have steel wheels. But the alloys were massive, very solid, like the old Porsche wheels on steroids, and it had big rubber tyres. Looked quite good. The first was a BMW, so big it was like a tank.
  • Missan Micra 53 - Gear is hard to change 16 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I got a Nissan micra 53 which only has 40000 miles. Recently, I found the gears (1st, 2nd and 3rd) were hard to change when I started the car, sometimes the reversal gear too. But, this situation became better once I drove for a while.
  • Fawning, Gushing Praise for Honest John's Pop Ups 15 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Time heals, the annoying Nissan Cashcow ad has gone. I was miffed at getting about 12 popups from RSPB (the ones who won't admit that magpies and birds of prey eat songbird). But I read it and filled in a data form and today....................it arrived.
