  • oil for older or clasic cars 6 Oct 2023 (Forum)
Item I have just read about oil for older classic cars and why modern oil appears to be dangerous. Situated on a site that you would not normally expect to find it on. The author is writing about the good old US of A, but comments cover GB as well.
  • The height of greed and stupidity - Accident claim credit car hire 11 Nov 2019 (Forum)
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7670005/Woman-given-400-000-bill-driving-hired-Mercedes-accident-claim-resolved.html This needs to be regulated! She rented the car through an independent firm that offered to cover the cost of the rental, but only if she was not to blame for the crash.

  • Tesla Model 3 - Shall I be brave? 20 Apr 2016 (Forum)
Been looking at the launch of the "3" and like it. In the flesh rather appealing. Have tesla done it for the leccy car? 200+ miles will cover 90% of my motoring needs. Tempted! Hmmm?
  • FIAT Panda - Frozen Locks/ Mudflaps 23 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Hi, What's the best way to stop door locks freezing besides covering ?                    Is it worth fitting mudguards to modern cars or would drilling holes for fitting potentially cause more damage?  Thanks.

  • AutoAid renewal invitation..... 3 Apr 2019 (Forum)
I'll renew straight away. And, yes, those who don't have breakdown cover may well have a point regarding all the premiums they've saved over the years - but most (although not all)  still pay their buildings and contents cover despite their house having not caught fire.
  • Seat leon TDI 2013 - Turbo 10 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Hi, Just a quick bit of advice as I'm fairly ignorant about this kind of thing. I recently bought a used seat leon TDI (43k miles). Unfortunately the car lost power and engine light came on. I took it to my local seat garage. They said that the turbo needs replacing. Annoyingly it's literally just out of the warranty, but they've said they'll cover the cost of the parts (£2500 apparantly).
  • Buying a new Mercedes A-Class - petrol or diesel? 16 Sep 2013 (Ask HJ)
I am considering buying a new shape Mercedes A-Class; it will cover about 15,000 a year and I’m considering a diesel. However, with DPF problems considered,...
  • Vauxhall Corsa - How to check my battery 28 May 2011 (Forum)
The battery in my 2007 Corsa is not the original and the replacement has both "green eye" and unscrewable tops for the cells; bizarre? There is a cover over the positive terminal so three of the caps are under that. A car battery specialist has told me that I will need to reset my radio codes if I take the cover off! Its obviously no good only checking 3 of the cells and I do not fancy resetting the radio codes each time I check the battery.
  • Any Diesel 4 x 4 - DPF's. Still a problem? 28 Apr 2011 (Forum)
There are vast numbers of diesel cars on the roads and many makes/models are now only available with diesel engines. Not all of these vehicles can be being driven under 'ideal conditions'. If there were continuing problems then surely owners would be 'up-in-arms' and there would be plenty of media cover.

  • Mercedes-Benz GLA - Insurance Claim 13 Jan 2023 (Forum)
This maybe a silly question regarding car insurance? My daughter pranged her car while she was reversing in her drive, bumper is badly damaged and the rear light is smashed. Because it is her fault can she make an insurance claim? She is covered with comprehensive insurance/
  • Skoda Fabia - some use out of this car 21 Sep 2018 (Forum)

  • Peugeot 5008 - Roof rattle 22 Aug 2011 (Forum)
If anyone has a rattle coming from their 5008 and cant place it try the small plastic tabs on the roof rails for covering the attachments for the roof bars.  My car was in 3 times and the dealer couldn't find where the noise was coming from. Found it myself.  Would recommend the car though.
