Vauxhall Astra - Dealer protection? 8 Apr 2013 (Forum)
I am also now suspicious that despite there reassurance the vehicle is not clean and there could be outstanding finance on the vehicle. Where do I stand legally? Can I return the vehicle and obtain a full refund under the sales of goods act? And under false information? Surely if they have informed me that the vehicle is clean and clear and it's not this is an act of fraud? -
Any - Cracking the whiplash 18 Oct 2012 (Forum)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/insurance/motorinsurance/9609751/Fewer-car-crashes-but-more-whiplash-claims.html We all knew this to be true, but the the scale of the scam is still quite shocking. "Police figures show a 20rise in 3rd party injury claims% fall in the number of accidents involving injuries since 2006, while there has been a 40% " and "the average 3rd party claim now stands at £8400 suggesting that most claim s are for whiplash-like injuries" Surely, it is now time for whiplash to be declared an Act of God, since, like God, whiplash is an intangible entity whose existence cannot be proved? -
What a load of drivel - Buying a car 5 Oct 2012 (Forum)
I could not believe the interactive talk through with the salesman delivering the car explaining about finance options, interest charges, gap insurance, paint protection etc, all of which had to be replied to yes no or "no response" and the the customer had to sign electronically that he had been asked these questions and was happy with his replies. -
Registered keeper on V5 for ex-lease cars 11 Oct 2011 (Forum)
The car is just over 3 years old and the lease period has come to an end. I've done an HPI check and there is no outstanding finance. On the V5 document, it has the lease company listed as the present keeper (with no previous keepers). So, there is no evidence that he actually owns the car. I haven't dealt with lease cars before, is this normal or should he be listed as the keeper now the lease period has ended? -
Audi A4 - Cars coming off lease 11 Mar 2011 (Forum)
So I am now interested in buying a 3 or 4 year old Audi A4 and was expecting to see a fair few coming back from lease or finance companies but I have not seen that many. Have been scouring Autoquake, Carcraft, Autotrader... etc.. Should I be looking anywhere else ? -
Do the police have targets for breath tests? 19 Oct 2009 (Forum)
They believed him and his story 2. It costs money to test people so they were thinking about the state of the public finances 3. They didn't want a test failure on their records because the more people they catch the better? Just surprises me because I reckon most culprits would say 'I've only had one drink gov'. -

Buying a car this week, any advice appreciated 15 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I am in the process of buying a used Ford Mondeo Zetec from a franchised dealer this week (no financing, just a cash purchase). I paid the deposit today, will be paying the balance tomorrow and will be picking it up on Wednesday. It is an 09 reg with about 5,000 on the clock. It is not a Ford Direct car but is an ex-demo car for the dealership. -
Mazda Mazda 5 7-str (2005 - 2010) - Best way to sell an 07 5, dealer or private 10 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I have a 2007 Mazda 5 which I'm looking to sell and downsize to a smaller car, just really want some idea as to the best way of approaching this, should I do a private sale or would it be easier to do a trade in at a dealership and get a smaller car from the same dealer? There is no outstanding finance on the car. I like the simplicity of doing everything all at a dealership but am worried that I may end up being completely ripped off. Thanks for any advice. -

Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - HPi Check clear - NOT! 22 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I came home then did my own HPI check on the Vehicle only to find out that there in 'outstanding Finance agreement found'? Will I be able to get my £200 deposit back as I believe this to be false advertising? I have printed the advert off as evidence of the wording of the advert, or do you think I will have to go to court to get my money back which I will no problem? -
Focus at a Ford dealer - Possible to haggle? 5 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I have seen a W reg Focus at a proper Ford dealer, its £2000 and has 57,000 miles, 12 monts MOT, 6 months warranty and comprehensive health check. It seems ideal but £2k is a little out of my budget unless I can get a good finance deal (I was going to buy 50% cash and 50% credit card but at £2k I would be skint). Therefore I would need to get this car down to around £1700, would I be laughed at by making this sort of offer? -
DVLA have no record of my car!!! 13 Dec 2008 (Forum)
The reminder never came so i phoned the DVLA and they have no record of the car, i tried to HPI the car and they also have no record. I find this strange as i have finance outstanding on the car. Has anyone else ever had any problems like this?? Im not sure what to do next {made non make/model descriptive as this this question could relate to any vehicle} -

Halifax Bank of Scotland sales at BCA 24 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Hi guys, Can anyone shed any light on the probable source of cars in HBOS sales at BCA? Are they ex-lease properly maintained stuff? Or bodged nasty finance reposessions? Spotted a 5 year old 'prestige' vehicle with no previous owners and 6 figure mileage in an upcoming sale, wondering what its history might have been - I'm sorely tempted if it was simply a lease car they had for 5 years etc etc. -

New slant on road safety 18 Dec 2005 (Forum)
My understanding from various reports is that in future money gathered from camera fines will be used to finance other types of safety gadgets, like flashing lights, yet more road signs etc. Some of these proposals might make good sense and the idea of completely rehashing speed limits, with more 20 mph zones could be advantageous as long as the new limits are not all lower. -
Re-testing following a disqualification 5 Dec 2005 (Forum)
All bans, not just drink-driving, or speeding and make it an extended test, not just the simple 'beginners' version. The scheme would be self financing from the test fees and so would not cost Her Majesty's Government a bean. What do you think, any support, or would it be just another niggling motoring restriction? -
HPi checking a car 16 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I'm going to need to do an HPi check on a car tonight, I'd like to check the mileage as best as possible, previous insurance write-offs, finance etc. but I'm also very tight and don't want to pay HPi £38 for the privelege and I'm sure I've heard of them even cheaper thab the £20 jobbie from Car Watch UK. Anyone got any recommendations? Also, does anyone know if the Car Watch UK one is as good as the HPi check for £38?
