  • Mazda MX5 (1998-2005) - 2000 1.8 - cambelt failure=no damage? 29 May 2008 (Forum)
It's a August 2000 W reg 1.8s, one owner (me) with 46000 miles - I actually asked te local main dealer last August at the annual service if it would be a good idea to change the cam belt - no, he said, Mazda say 54,000 with no time limit. If it does turn out to be the belt, is the engine (1.8s) non-interference? If the valves are damaged, would a good dealer shoulder some cost in view of my direct question about it 4 months ago?
  • Mazda MX5 (1998-2005) - How honest should you be in advertising 26 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I had a discussion with a friend and was talking about potentially selling my Mazda MX5 (1998 MK 2), which is great fun but thinking about getting a bigger car. I had an engine replacement last August after engine failure and although it's running great now I said I thought I wouldn't get what it was worth because it has had an engine change.
  • RX8 - worth the trouble? 13 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Miles per gallon is not an issue as I only do around 8k per annum, but I do move my dog around a fair bit, so back seats are a necessity. My current thinking is a 3-4yr old Mazda RX8. My only concern is that the engine floods if turned off before it heats through. If I understand things correctly this can only be 'un-flooded' by a Mazda dealer and so would mean a lot of hassle, if this was a common problem.
  • Mazda 6 - buying used any advice? 13 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Any comments on the dealers round here? (or rather lack of them!) I've always had Ford so I have high expectations of Mazda in terms of quality and the dealer service. Cheers all and have a nice weekend. James

  • Mazda 2 - Used car advice, been standing 30 Sep 2022 (Forum)
On the up side, it does seem to be a very genuine little car, in good condition, runs and drives well and it has obviously been well serviced and looked after and has not been passed about, it's only had 2 owners from new (plus us on the V5). You are right in mentioning the notorious Mazda rust, however this affected pre 2008ish cars,-  Mazda sorted this out years ago and the later cars are not affected by the old rust problem. Our Mazda 2 does not have any rust bubbling anywhere on it (it may look like it due to reflection in the photos) and in my opinion, is very clean and tidy for its age and mileage.
  • Mazda 6 Sports Nav + Auto - 2019 Mazda 6 Sports Nav+ locks and windows 17 Jan 2019 (Forum)
On the motorway and A roads, one has to pull out a lot further behind a vehicle if the cruise is active otherwise the Mazda slows down, which it is supposed to do, but overtaking needs to be done by pulling out much earlier. The vehicle seems well made, is surefooted on our country roads and comfortable so a good choice we think and a few grand less than a new VW Arteon the CC replacement but not a patch on the CC.
  • Mazda 6 Tourer - Please help.. Mazda 6 2.2 diesel mpg mega issue 18 Feb 2022 (Forum)
I was looking at (and now wish I had) staying with mondeo and upgrading to a 2013 or thereabouts facelift version of my previous car which would have seen the horses increase from 175 to 200 but also the tax go from 200 to 220. I was set on this but then I discovered the mazda 6 sport nav tourer. Comparing them they are similarly specced out, with some features being better on the Ford, some better on the mazda. The mazda is slightly smaller but still just about big enough for my needs.

  • Any - Grilles 20 Nov 2017 (Forum)
Merely out of curiosity, does anyone know if there is such a genuine need for the big grilles on modern cars? I remember cars from the lates 80s and early 90s that had very little such as the Mazda MX6 coupe.  https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-reviews/used-car-review-mazda-mx6-1991-1997-13295 Or the Ford Sierra:  http://www.classicandperformancecar.com/ford/sierra/4036/1982-1992-ford-sierra Was it Rover that reintroduced the look?
