  • Parking contention and garage usage 12 Feb 2021 (Forum)
The developers then added a drive and garage to the proposals, and therefore, the council agreed to the new proposals with an explicit condition that the driveway and garage be used, and no parking by the household would take a space on the road.   As far as I'm aware, the neighbour only uses the garage for storage. Both vehicles are small hatchbacks and the garage is wide enough for one.   Is the condition the council set out something that could be enforced by the council if the matter escalated due to the neighbours behaviour?
  • Recommendations - used mini MPV, wheelchair etc. 14 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Some must-haves: I'd like the seats to fold down level with the rest of the boot, and some choice of how the rear seats split/slide forward would also be good - the Panda has one bench so not very great.  Some storage, whether under the boot floor or otherwise would be good I also really want a heated front windscreen in this next car, as I'm fed up of waiting 5-10 minutes for the inside to defrost!  Air con would be great, though not as important.
  • Kia Sorento - B & N Couriers Ltd 2 Dec 2013 (Forum)
The car had only done 35,000 and was on sale for £8,800 which seemed like a saving of 2-3k over other similar cars. Unfortunately the car was in storage in Berrick upon Tweed and with us living in the midlands that was an issue. They kindly offeerd to deliver the car down for a 3 day appraisal if we pad the 20% deposit which was refundable if it turned out to be not what we had understood.
  • My Cloned Car got taken away by the Police 27 Dec 2012 (Forum)
This happened today - my car was identified as a clone via the diagnostic computer and it turns out that Admiral insurance company made a pay out on this car a few months ago. They took the car to a storage facility and are holding it until an agreement is reached between myself and the insurers.   It just so happens that me and my family are all with Admiral and have been for a number of years - but I am not sure if this will work in my favour with regard to buying back the car.
  • £5000 partical and reliable small to medium diesel 24 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Hi all currently im driving a 53 plate honda jazz auto at around 90k miles looking at that the milage is getting high, and is time to let go. I still love the car very much utterly reliable and the storage space is far more spacious than anycar in its class so here is the question been looking for a used diesel car that is small to medium size, any recommedation? or should i stick with a lower milage used jazz?
  • Audi 80 Cabriolet 2.6e - A few problems! 28 Feb 2005 (Forum)
You can hear a solenoid click when the up button is pushed so the switch works but there is no movement from any window. All the cars fuses are intact. 3) The button to pop the hood storage bin open doesn't seem to operate - the boot must be closed and handbrake on and I have tried all this but no luck at all? Again, all the fuses are intact. 4)The steering wheel is not quite straight when going straight ahead - about 5 degrees off.
  • Rover 75 Tourer 14 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Volvo V70 pertol {owned from new / hence worst of depreciation over} and wanted something sexier / cheaper to run, but still with lots of storage space / room for dog etc. HJ suggested {'98} BMW and Merc estates, both of which would cost more / would be older / higher miles etc. Both are more hatch back than estate, with v sloping rear end.
  • Two questions... 12 Dec 2001 (Forum)
I am, therefore, considering leaving the car in the garage, if I cannot sell it. 2.) Does anyone have any storage advice, bearing in mind the age and value of the car? 2.a) When leaving a car on blocks, I assume that the blocks should be positioned under the jacking points. Is it, therefore, okay to jack the car up at non-jacking points?
  • BMW 1 Series - Faulty car - engine light issue 4 Mar 2023 (Forum)
      - Can I use the recording as evidence in court to proof the car is not as dealer described? - Garage suggests scrapping the car. Should I tow the car and storage it with extra cost or scrapping the car before legal procedure complete?
  • Audi S3 - Quality of HJ Q&A 27 May 2016 (Forum)
Many thanks, Andrew   and the answer: No, won't have caused damage. But this is the second time I have heard of an Audi dealer putting a car out on storage tyre pressures. This is actually very common but proves that the pre-delivery inspection was not carried out correctly so you should seek some acknowledgement of that from the Audi dealer. In the other case, the Audi owner received a replacement set of tyres FoC.
  • Land Rover announces new limited edition Defender 20 May 2014 (Forum)
Inside, the Bear Grylls Edition dispenses with the normal Defender’s seats and replaces them with four moss covered logs while the floor is constantly damp and covered in insects. Detail touches include a central storage compartment stocked with a mysterious bottle of hotel shampoo and what Land Rover terms ‘Bear’s Refreshment Centre’ which, on closer inspection, is actually a flask of ***s. The Grylls Edition features a bespoke sat-nav system in which all roads have been removed, encouraging the driver to reach their destination ‘as the indigenous peoples would have done’.
  • Citroen Xsara Picasso - Consider buying or walk away? 17 May 2013 (Forum)
AND although the car is dry everywhere else, we viewed it in the heavy rain today and the storage compartment behind the passengers seat is full of water.  The owner is asking the dealers about this on Friday and will get back to us.  Having Googled the water leakage it seems to be a common problem.
  • Ford Kuga (2008 - ) - Day out with a Kuga 24 Oct 2009 (Forum)
It drove and handled very well, good acceleration, 6 speed box, and very little body roll. Seats were comfortable, elbow movement obstructed slightly by a very large centre armrest/storage box. Excellent foot rest for clutch foot when cruising; good cruise control filled with small paddles on the steering wheel boss. Knew about the split rear tailgate but never found out how it worked.
  • My new Passat - first impressions 7 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Chrome looks impressive against the black. Interior ? very nice, roomy, well-finished, lots of thoughtful touches, plenty of storage space (esp for drinks!). The leather is not the best I?ve ever seen but is ok, and I?m looking forward to trying out the heated front seats when the weather gets a bit cooler. Good stereo ? easy to use and nice sound, powerful.
  • Touran 8 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Stereo is awesome, quick peek behind the speaker grill reveals a Blaupunkt premium component. Has so many cubby holes and storage areas that I shall loose tons of stuff. The third row of seats pop up and down with ease, but 7 seats means no spare wheel so I have a jar of goo and an electric pump. As far as build quality goes, well, fit and finish inside is as good as the goona (RIP), there is a rattle from the back I will get fixed.
  • Classics for everday use 23 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Virtually all parts are still available -- the Mussie has a vast following even today, and there's practically nothing I can't service or fix myself, except the auto trans,m and there are plenty of specialist for those. I maintain this car in storage and use it on visits to UK to avoid rental car costs. I have been offered many times more than I paid for it (bye-bye depreciation) and it will do 22 mpg under most circumstances (4.8 liter). Burns no oil between changes on a motor that has done well over 170,000 miles (no doubt becaiuse of being religiously maintained).

  • carburetted engines. MAYBE coked DI - DOT 3 Carb Cleaner 8 Apr 2016 (Forum)
    (e) Free (if you use used fluid) and almost free if you use unused fluid since it has a limited storage life once opened. (This assumes you change your own brake fluid) Doesn't repel mosquitos though frown. I suppose not many people have carbs on cars anymore so it isn't of much contemporary relevance ("Delayed Developments : Solving Yesterdays Problems, Today") except maybe for motorcycles.
  • Austin Mini Mayfair - When is a stolen car not a stolen car? 13 Jun 2013 (Forum)
[endif]--> I had a car stolen, because the Police are unable to ascertain who stole it they refuse to seize the vehicle and return it to me-despite them knowing where the vehicle is.   I had the car in storage in North Wales. In Feb 2011 I was contacted by the DVLA advising me someone in North Wales was trying to register the car. I told them I had not sold the car and not to allow anyone else to register it.
  • passat golf octavia fabia a4 focus - £4K estate dilemma 31 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I worry that the Fabia is more a super-mini estate and with the curvy tailgate on it it won't offer enough storage space. It looks like I can buy a much newer Focus for the same money - there are 2007 TDCis with around 80-90K on them. Much as a I love the VAG cars, I reckon I can pick up a newer Ford for the same money.
