  • Potential Court Appearance for Parking on the Grass? 13 Dec 2022 (Forum)
Having had a fun but cold run around the park we returned to the the car. I was shocked to see a parking ticket.. Only it wasn't a parking ticket.  It was a NIP stating "you may be prosecuted for the offence through the Magistrates Court".
  • legal requirements for 'no parking'? 16 Jan 2015 (Forum)
But if local authorities wish to fine me they can at least abide by any relevant laws that apply to parking. Does anyone know the requirement to mark or indicate a no parking area where a PCN can be issued? PS I learned in the pub earlier that this individual is renowned in the area concerned and has been involved in many confrontations.
  • Need help urgently-victim of Number plate cloning! 1 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Luckily, as my father is a taxi driver and the vehicle was being used for work at the time of most of these offences, providing proof to the companies was not difficult and had been done straight away upon receiving the fines. Now 6 of the charges have been wavered by the council/parking companies after supplying proof apart from one private parking company called ‘lambeth parking’ who issued 2 PCNs to my fathers address and have not yet wavered the charges.
  • Vauxhall New Meriva - Meriva Electric parking brake & hill starts 22 May 2014 (Forum)
Have just bought a used 11 Reg Meriva with the electric parking brake, but no 'Hill Start Assist'. Has anyone got any advice on doing hill starts on very steep hills? We've followed the instructions in the manual for just driving off and letting it release the brake automatically, which is fine on flat surfaces and slight inclines, but we live in area surrounded by steep hills.
  • Everybody watch out! Big Brother - Telematics and connected cars 8 Feb 2017 (Forum)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/insurance/car/insurer-knows-text-drive-make-pay/ So when we all have a sim card in our car dash we will be followed/tracked and then charged for the privilege, and then get the speding fines or parking tickets automatically!

  • Volkswagen Passat B5 2002 VW V6 TDI - Cutting out when re started 17 Nov 2016 (Forum)
Took it to my VW mate, new sensor the next day, drove it for a week. Parked in a car park, came back about 45 minutes later. Started it up and then it cut out. Part of me wants to just get rid of it, but it is in stunning condition and would like to keep it, if we can just solve what the problem is.
  • private parking- new law against motorists!!! 5 May 2011 (Forum)
It will be replaced, under a criminal statute, by powers to allow the private parking parasites to pursue the registered keeper, also to force them to reveal the driver or face the fine. I cannot believe our own Government are going to allow it's own citizens to be harassed and persecuted by these vutures.
  • Police FPN - Car Obstructing Yellow Line Painting 17 Dec 2010 (Forum)
There were no advance warning signs up when I parked the car. 11 days after I parked the car, the removal and line paining took place. (The police statement says the council put up signs 2 weeks previously, but i don't think that's true.) If I lose the case, I'll have to pay court fees as well as the fine.
  • Thanks to DVD re parking ticket 25 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I think the advice I got from DVD must have been spot on, because I have read many similar cases in the local papers lately where people who contest a fine get nowhere. Thanks again. HF
  • Volvo V70 D5 2002 - Volvo V70 D5 2002 cold starting problem 5 Dec 2012 (Forum)
When parked outside overnight and the air temperature drops to freezing . . . the engine refuses to start. It turns over fine, but does not fire up; the battery is fine; the glow plus have been tested as OK.
  • Cameras on M-Way Service Station "back roads" 2 Jul 2009 (Forum)
Watch out - they are fining you now for using these when you buy your parking ticket. I managed to get away with it today, but I have suspicion I was otherwise heading for a fine of some sort. Probably a civil job so possibly more about scare tactics than securing a prosecution.
  • Ford Focus Estate - Front wipers, a bit of an unusual condition 3 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Can be anywhere on the screen. I can use more downward pressure on the lever to complete the sweep and park them by removing the pressure. I would have thought the park mode was a common system across the board ? So, anyone have any ideas ? Maybe the steering wheel switch assembly or a relay ? (Additional info is that wash works on front and rear wash wipe work fine).
  • Traffic flow & Park and Ride 6 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Our local county council is determined to force through a park and ride scheme near where I live. Now I am in favour of well designed park and ride schemes, but this one's a real pigs ear. The plan relies on a complex set of traffic lights being installed on a roundabout on the A12 trunk road.
  • Parking fine - student in need of legal advice 8 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Unfortunately the wind (probably) turned the ticket up-side-down when I closed the door, so I got a penalty notice on my windshield. I asked parking officer for an advice, he advised me to appeal and UK Parking Control would cancel it. I visited their website and appealed online, but the Online Appeal Form didn't work (505 error etc, probably deliberately).

  • Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 98 1.6 Servo Assist Problem? 18 May 2009 (Forum)
Almost like a snap/spring/clunk low pitched sound under the car. I had to roll it down my hill and park using the handbrake. The car seems fine now having driven it round the block - BUT I want to be sure that this is normal, and that I shouldn't take it into a garage to check for an issue with the servo assist or something related to it.
  • Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - 02 110 HDi estate electrics 16 Mar 2008 (Forum)
This is realy begining to bug me. fuse F9 keeps blowing, not when i use something ,but when the car is parked up,not every time,it will be fine for weeks then have a hissy fit and go through one evry time i park,I've disconnected windows, power points and rear level switch and makes no differance, has anyone got access to a wiring diagram. at first i thought it was tied in with putting a wieght in the back, but that makes no change, are there any boxes that dont like moisture, could it be spiked on start,i've tried the reset electrics routine but again no change.
  • Penalty charge notice 6 Dec 2004 (Forum)
A camera caught my car. My dad did not get my consent to use the car, he did display the badge when parking in the disabled bay after entering the road. I spoke to the parking people, they said he should have displayed the blue badge on the dash before entering the road. How should I appeal so we both do not get fined, as the sign did not say display the badge.
  • VW Polo 2018 - Accident repair question 21 Jan 2019 (Forum)
They said I could go through the VW garage for the repair if I wanted, but I said I’d let them handle it. So, can I assume their repairer is fine, they said they give a five year warranty and are Kite approved? Secondly, can I assume the other party is at fault given that the rear of their car went into the side of mine? I have dash cam footage which shows that I am out of the parking space and pretty much ready to drive forwards when the impact occurs.
