  • C3 Picasso - Battery Change 22 Dec 2022 (Forum)
The battery is just about managing in this cold weather and is ready for a change. Does anyone know if there anything that's likely to be affected when I do the swap - key codes, radio, etc? I've not had a problem swapping a battery in years but it's always worth an ask!

  • Battery testing? 10 Feb 2015 (Forum)
My battery is over 4 years old and I know that it could fail at any time. I don't want this to happen at an inconvenient time. Is it possible to test a battery to predict when it will fail? I know you can test it once it has failed, but can testers predict it before it happens?

  • Ford Mondeo III - Silver Calcium Battery Charging 25 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I need to charge the 12 Volt Silver Calcium Battery on my 2003 Ford Mondeo. Will any car battery charger do (mine is 20 years old) or is there a more appropriate type of charger I should use?
  • Battery Change 18 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Is it possible to change a car battery without the need to re-program radio/alarm etc. If you used say an Airflow Battery Conditioner on the disconnected live and earth cables before disconnection and during, would that be enough to hold the codes for the radio etc, reconnect the leads and then remove the Airflow cables, all codes intact???
  • FIAT Punto II (1999 - 2006) - Buying a new battery off a big national company 22 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I was told that it 'will only take fifteen minutes'. The old battery was removed and it became clear very quickly that the Calcium one that I had purchased was larger and would not fit (despite the fitter's efforts) into the battery holder. Clearly this battery is not suitable for the car as advertised on your website.
  • Civic diesel MK8. - New battery and voltage 7 Aug 2025 (Forum)
Old battery had died,11.6 V and unable to charge ( 5 years plus old). New battery installed.  At terminals out of the box it read 12.9V and in car with leads attached ( but not switched on ) 12.85V.  Should I be doing a parasitic drain check ?
  • Citroen C5 exlusive estate Auto 2.2 deisel - Flat battery 1 Feb 2016 (Forum)
When I leave the car for more than about 4 days the battery goes flat(new battery). I have put the car into a local garage and the only fault they came up with was dodgy earth connections which they cleaned.  After locking car and leaving again for 4 days- battery flat again.
  • Peugeot 206 2.0 HDI - Can a battery inspection window be replaced? 13 Dec 2014 (Forum)
Due to only removing the sticker pointing to it and stupidly not removing the vent plug from a new battery, the inspection window has shot off and battery acid has splashed the engine bay. The battery still seems to work fine, although I have removed it now. I realise that this is not covered by the warranty, but does anybody know if it is possible to have it repaired?
  • VW Sharan 1.9TDi 1999/2000 - battery drain 19 Mar 2012 (Forum)
My battery goes flat over night.  Even with everything switched off there seems to be a small current drain. I know this because when I disconnect and reconnect the positive battery lead to the battery terminal there is a small spark.
  • Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - 07 1.8D Battery/Electrical Issues 8 Jan 2012 (Forum)
There doesn't appear to be anything obvious draining the battery and it is definitely charging.

  • FIAT Punto (1994 - 1999) - 1998 - battery boost - help needed 17 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Hi all, becasue of the cold weather i thought id give the battery of our fiat punto 60 (1998) a bit of a charge up today, as the car lives outside and only does short runs. It has been labouring to start recently and we probably need to invest in a new battery.
  • Audi A8 - Yuasa battery - Presumed battery failure - best make? 22 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Just over a year ago I bought what they said was the best battery in Halford's - a 100Ah Yuasa HSB019.  After inadvertently flattening it a few weeks ago it has now twice failed to retain enough charge to start the engine.  The 8 and 9 year old batteries in our other two cars have on occasion been similarly flattened and continue to be reliable.
  • Vauxhall Zafira Tourer 1.6cdti - Stop-Start batteries 1 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Hi, A friend has just has a new battery fitted to her Kia Piccanto.  The AA man suggested she save money and not to fit a Stop Start Battery.  I own a Zafira Tourer 1.6 cdti with Stop-Start.  The difference in price between a Stop-Start battery and normal is about £300.
  • lexus rx400h - auxillery battery failure 17 Dec 2018 (Forum)
i am about to leave my lexus rx400h at an airport for 2 weeks and i am told that it is commonplace to return and find the battery flat.i gather that the auxillery battery is only small but with the amount of "kit" on these cars the battery flattens quickly.i am also told that there is no bigger replacement battery that will fit this model.can you offer any advice.the dealers dont seem to be able to help and the lexus owners club correspondence indicates that lexus dont want to know.one of the reasons i bought the car was because of the rave reviews by "honest john"incidentally i agree with his views on the car but i see this as a really annoying potential drawback to the car.
  • Mazda MX-5 - Battery booster - Start Genie 5 Nov 2012 (Forum)
Now the cold mornings are here, flat batteries show themselves. I saw an ad in the Telegraph quite a few months ago for a Start Genie, that you plug into the 12v supply and it will supply enough power to start the engine in the event of a flat battery.
