Audi high idling and cutting problem. 1 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Although after doing this they said the car was fixed. When I said it wasn't they started saying I also need a new ECU. One other thing I noticed is that when the air conditioning is on the car seems to only warm up to 75-80 degrees Celsius ( on the dash gauge). It used to always go to 90 degrees Celsius after a short drive. -
Tyre speed rating surprise 28 Jun 2005 (Forum)
As it happens, on my car the factory electronic speed limit (137mph) has been removed as a result of the BSR software that I installed, but unless I got lucky with the tyres (I doubt it) it makes me wonder why Volvo bothered with such an odd limit in the first place. Even if ECU software is considered to be 'global' and in some markets lower rated (perhaps winter) tyres will be fitted, it's still a might odd maximum speed to choose for a limiter. -
Leon STDi - Temp Sensor & Economy 1 Mar 2005 (Forum)
I have a few questions... 1. is the sensor likely to be knackered providing an inaccurate reading back to the ECU. 2. I have had this car for four years since new and covered almost 100K miles in it. It has always taken longer to reach normal operating temperature than any of my other cars, including its VW Golf cousin with identical engine. -
VW Golf 1.8 timing question 21 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Having now moved my distributor (which the mechanic states was seized in place - factory anti-tamper seal possibly), does this now mean that my engine is correctly timed, or are there other parts in my distributor which is confusing my ECU even more? The guy who does my servicing is very honest and reasonable, and has always made a very good job of my cars before. But like everyone, he is human and humans do make mistakes. If I went back to him with some feedback that what he'd done was wrong, he'd be happy to put it right I'm sure. -

Lights, Complex????? 11 Mar 2002 (Forum)
I then phoned the Dealer in the Lake District that I bought my car from who informed me that they also had the same trouble and found that the ECU had to be told to activate the wiring even though there is no mention anywhere in Land Rovers information. They would do it for me free but with it being a 160 mile round trip suggested trying a nearer dealer to avoid the fuel costs. -

Ive noticed sometimes when its playing up the trip screen says ' battery remote control' No fault codes have been found as yet but once it did flash up CIM module? Will i need an auto electrician and does anybody think it might be the ECU? I have had a few things done to the car to test to see if it would fix it, Fuel filter changed - was realllllllly dirty!! (obv never been changed) Throttle body cleaned EGR cleaned DPF checked Fuse box cleaned and checked - no visible dodgy wires or blown fuses Oil filter change and new oil Injectors tested - all working but not at their best New cam belt (this had also never been changed!!) -
Peugeot 308 - Peugeot 308, 2010 Petrol 1.6l Noisy fan 24 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Also, the mechanic disconnected the connection between battery and fan and fan did not stop, mechanic thinks it should stop if it were a temp sensor error. Mechanic now says may be a corrupt ECU or fuse board or something. bit of background.Initially after the car was bought few months ago it was working fine with no fan issue. But AC was not working so took it back to the dealer. -
Citroen C3 (2002 - 2009) - 02 1.4HDi 16v engine cutting out at random 7 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Yesterday, I had the same brief cut in power which lasted a second or so but then the oil pressure warning light came on and the car drove as normal. A quick pull over to the side of the road to turn ignition on and off and all is well again. No ECU lights are lit on the dash and Citroen say they cannot find any codes stored. They (randomly it seems) changed the throttle pot assy on the pedal but this has made no difference. I'm now at my wits end with the thing - Citroen obviously have no idea what's wrong and it's so intermittent anyway they can never actually witness the problem when they test drive it. -
Vauxhall Corsa - 50mph crash, write off, old car :( 2 Oct 2017 (Forum)
Missed out on a job interview that was the next day :( but since had a job offer from a interview I went too before only a £7,000 per year pay drop from the one I missed out on. Devestated. Anyway, my car was a 53 plate corsa. Only had it two years. In that time the ECU had to be replaced, head gasket, timing chain and water pump. Got it for £2,000 ended up putting over 2k into it in repairs. Yes, I know but I loved my car!! Currently waiting for the Lorry's company insurance to deem it a total loss. -
Landrover Freelander - Consumer Rights Act 2015 10 Feb 2017 (Forum)
From the AA van I called the dealer and asked if I shold get it revovered to him and he told me I could take it to any garge, so I had it recovered to a Jaguar / Landrover specialist that I have used previously. After much diagnostic work and repairs including a new fuel pump, new ECU and fuel injectors, all costing me over £3,400 the car was back on the road. Twice we offered to give the car back to the dealer for him to look at and repair and twice he refused, saying that my garage had caused the fault.
