What to do with a deceased's (worthless) car? 27 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Also, the head gasket is on its way out, so safe to say the car is probably only worth a trivial amount. I don't know if I can be bothered with jumping through hoops organising temporary insurance cover and change of ownership to myself, especially as the plan is to take the car to Webuyanycar and see what nominal amount they can give us for it as nobody now wants the car! -
Re: Used car that's been sitting around 2 Dec 2003 (Forum)
While I realise there are possible problems with a car that's been sitting around, realistically is this going to be an issue on a relatively new car (bearing in mind that slow-selling models of cars often sit around on airfields for months before being distributed to a dealers)? -
mazda 6 sport estate - paint problem 2010 mazda 6 5 Jul 2012 (Forum)
It seems the paint on the particualr colour is really soft and not up to standard. the front end of the car, so bonnet , bumper and front wings are literally sandblasted with stonechips and marks. The rest of the car is covered in paint chips and marks. it seems the paint is really soft and just not good enough. -
Vauxhall Cavalier Mk2 1800i petrol Cabrio 1986 - Replace centre exhaust section 23 May 2024 (Forum)
Just wondering if anyone can suggest a supplier for the centre exhaust section for my car, which will need a replacement to pass it's next MoT? I've done well up till now with National tyres, but they and all the usual suspects (even online) no longer stock the parts. Have also tried owners forums but no joy to date. -
Ford Fiesta/Peugeot 308 - Ford Fiesta/Peugeot 308 Engine query 30 Mar 2022 (Forum)
They both seemed to have part of the engine covered in a knobbled casing which didn't look quite right. I have included photos of the individual engines and a close up of the section I am referring to in the links below, so hopefully they work! -
Running older vehicles, 8 - 12 years old 29 Aug 2018 (Forum)
No prizes for guessing whats failing on my current car. Does anyone have any experience of running any of these vehicles? I am quite keen on the RAV, what should I be expecting in the terms of repair bills? -
Paugeot 406 2.0 HDI Exec (2000) - Climate control fault 16 Jan 2017 (Forum)
I'm trying to get to the bottom of issue with climate control in this car: basically it all seems to function other than that it is always hot air that comes out. Doesn't matter what temp it is set at or if a/c is enabled or not. I don't know if it's the flaps that aren't operating to switch off the hot air supply or if there is a sensor in the cabin that is malfunctioning. -
Land Rover Freelander 2 - Dealer increases price after vehicle reserved 29 May 2016 (Forum)
They money was not actually taken from my account, rather a hold was put on it until I came to view and potentially buy the vehicle. They claimed that they are covered by their terms and conditions ie. don't believe any details about cars on their website. Do I have any rights, given that I reserved the vehicle and received written confirmation (by email) of the (mistaken) retail price? -
Ford Focus diesel turbo - Ford focus - What have they done to my turbo? 6 May 2016 (Forum)

Toyota Auris - Manufacture`s extended warranty 1 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I`ve looked at the T&C`s and the dreaded `Wear and Tear` proviso is stated in them. Is it worth buying the warranty? I fully realise that service items like brake pads are not covered but it seems to me that the above provise lets them off any hook since everything is worn to some extent. Has anyone had experience of claiming off these type of warranties. Basically are they as good is the warranty issued with the new car? -
Hyundai i30 - Cut finger from door handle 27 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Having Googled the problem it seems to be well known. After the last cut finger I contacted Hyundai UK who refused any type of goodwill payment, as the car is 3 months beyond its warranty period. Their suggestion was to pay the local dealer £87.42 each tio replace the handles. My i30 now sports some pieces of natty black insulating tape to cover the offending handles. -

Hi My rear drivers side headrest has started being sodden with rain as water is leaking in above. I have seen it dripping from the plastic cover at the top of the rear hatch. Does anybody know how to take off the plastic without breaking it and is it a common problem with Mazda6 hatchback. Will it be the seal thats leaking or the window or has anybody else any ideas please. -
Yamaha XJ6 - No fault write off 9 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Hi, I was involved in car accident, and it was not my fault. The motorbike is a writeoff, as the cost of repair almost match the market value. The other insurance does not want to pay the market value, but instead only 70% of it, and I will keep the motorbike. -
Hyundai i30 Estate - £800 non-warranty surprise 25 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi All. I took our car to local dealer 3 weeks ago to get air con regassed - we bought it used in September and found out at the start of summer that air con not cooling (clearly we'd not needed it till then). After regas, it cooled for a day and then became less effective and was making some painful noises. -
Citroen Xsara 5 door 2000 - Help! Cooling fan kerplunk 24 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I cannot find a circuit diagram for the thermostat - the Haynes manual from the library does not seem to cover this year and the colours of the wiring in it are nothing like in my car. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this problem? I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks. -
Volvo V70 2001 Petrol Auto Estate - Gearbox Solenoid 14 Sep 2010 (Forum)
This car has the AN 55/50 gearbox Having got the fault code.... P0748 Pressure Control Solenoid "A" . This code indicates an electrical fault meaning the fault may be TCM (already swapped out), ECU (already swapped out) Solenoid itself (swapped out with gearbox) or a wiring fault - either a break in the wire or a connection. -
Ford Mondeo - Buyers' rights 2 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I was informed that no problem could be found. The performance has since worsened and upon returning the car again on 28 July I was subsequently advised that all 3 catalytic converters are blocked and that the repairs are not covered by the warranty. The bill for repairs, including labour, will be about £1700 but the dealer has offered to reduce this by 50%. -
What motorway MPG for Transit sized van? 16 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Guys, I have to do a few conferences the week after next, starting in Scotland and working my way down/across the country. I won't be able to fit all my gear in my car so will get my company to hire a Transit sized van. The thing is normally my company reimburse business miles at 13p a mile and I'd be surprised that will cover the fuel usage of a van of this size (I'll be doing circa 1,500 miles). -
Mercedes Benz C-Class Sport Coupe (2001 - 2008) - 03 Sport Coupe or 03 320 Ci SE? 30 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Reading the road-tests - the Merc is better on the fuel but otherwise there's little in it at all. I cover approx 400 miles/week - almost all of which are on the motorway. I'm more than happy just to sit at 70. Reckon the Merc will be available £750 less than the BMW but all in - both cars are immaculate with mature previous owners.
