Vauxhall Zafira Tourer 2015 - Two interim services in a row 21 Oct 2021 (Forum)
Halfords said interim is similar to main. Interim is 50 or so checks and main is 77 or so checks, they offered for me to bring the car back to get additional checks. Motor easy say the interim service the car had this year will not invalidate the warranty. Fine. But I'm worried the car needs a main eq qservice this year. Can anyone advise? -
Car Cost Comparison Calculator 14 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I’ve used actual available data (MPG, VED etc) and used prices for similar car specs (leather seats, SATNAV etc but not engine size) on Autotrader. This is just a little tool to help in my decision making and I thought to post it as a way of giving back to the forum for the excellent help to me and just in case someone else finds it useful. -
Citroen picasso 1.6 hdi - Injector seals - picasso hdi - damage by garage 11 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Hi, I am looking for some advise, my car recently started to make a tick tick noise, we took it to the local garage who advised it was the injector seals however this can be a tricky job and quoted us £200 max may come in less depending on the work, the garage called after 2 days to say one of the injectors was stuck and they would have to smash the head in order to get the injector out, at a cost of £780 with a second hand head with 30 day warranty, after calling some other garages we were advised that there should be no reason to smash the head and to get the car removed from that garage so we asked them to put the car back together so we could take it elsewhere, they advised this would not be possible as the car no longer run, we had to tow the car to another garage as it would not even turn over, the other garage removed the injector which now need to be replaced however upon starting the car it was clear the other injectors had been damaged so all 4 needed replacing, the car drove in perfect just with a ticking noise yet came out a non runner, I am unable to prove that the garage damaged the injectors but this is very obvious, how do I stand now as I don't see what I should be out of pocket due to the incompetance of the original garage, sorry for the long post...hoping someone can advise me -

MINI Cooper - Mini DCT automatic 7 Jun 2019 (Forum)
I understand both cars use a 7 speed DCT automatic box which as far as I can tell is supplied by Getrag. I have read reports of the A class being slow to pull out from junctions. We did test drive the A class but they only had a diesel & I found that difficult to pull out smoothly. -
mondeo tdci - compensation 11 May 2014 (Forum)
mid april this year i presented my car for mot to be told it had failed on emissisions the scanner they used was not working correctly ? so they done a bleed off test which revealed 3 faulty injectors after they quoted £200. per injector plus fitting i asked if i could source my own recon injectors this was ok with garage i sourced recons which garage fitted the car then failed to start they said recon injectors were faulty so they were returned to supplier they have said that the fuel in injectors had metallic contamination so warranty was void they say that fitter should of carried out a fuel test before saying i needed injectors? -
Chinese Citroen ZX problem... 12 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Is this something which should have to be done frequently, and above all is it something which we in the UK, or in Europe for that matter, would have to pay for when the car is still under warranty? The dealer tells us that it needs doing every 5000 km. TIA -
E-Class/5 Series or A6 - Advice Please 7 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Greetings, Hope you kind folk are able to offer some guidance. I have read HJ's comments and am a bit perplexed. We are looking for a used (large) quality car to do approx 12k/year as our sole family car. I had always fancied a BMW 528 or a new shape E-class. Whereas my wife likes Audi A6s (she has ruled out Jag XJ6-8(small boot/rear legroom) & the Lexus GS/LS through looks & size). -
Skoda Octavia - Sold a faulty part 1 Sep 2014 (Forum)
I took it to the main dealer who diagnosed a faulty pump, quoting me around £1500 for the repair. I shopped around for a better quote a garages I'd used previously and went with the best one I found. The car went in and the pump was changed but unfortunately the problem remained. Diagnostics were unable to identify any further issue but the garage suggested they try a few other other things. -
22% of 3-year old UK cars fail their first MOT 9 May 2008 (Forum)
In some European countries, testing and rectifying procedures are separated - should we consider the introduction of independent testing centres? [F] Greig also questioned why so many UK cars fail the first MoT test after just three years when three-year warranties and service agreements are common. "Is it because garages do the MoT test before the three-year warranty service instead of after it, which fuels motorists' suspicion that the MoT is being used to show that the service has been done properly? -
Skoda Yeti Door Lock Failure - Door lock failure 22 Dec 2020 (Forum)
When finally the discovery of the intermittent faulty lock on the rear passenger door resulted in a visit to Listers Skoda Banbury, it was decided that a new lock was needed at a cost of £323. As the car was not purchased from them (although they had done the servicing) and out of warranty, I paid for the work expecting a sympathetic approach from Skoda UK Customer services as the car had little use and under 30,000 miles and according to Listers a previously unheard of failure. -

VW Tiguan. - I wasn't told that when I bought it -main dealer. 25 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Hi, less than a year ago I bought a used VW Tiguan for my wife from a VW Main Dealer. Its one-year warranty has a few weeks to go. I hadn't sat in it far less driven it until a few days ago. Boy, did I get a shock! Its suspension is so hard that running over a pebble sends a shockwave up your spine. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 06 1.8 What is the correct battery spec? 17 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Trying to work out the correct battery spec for my Focus 56 plate 1.8 TDCi. The original Ford one is rated 80Ah. Spoke to Ford who say that it is not covered under warranty and they listed 4 different types. The most expensive being the 80Ah one at about £140. Must I use exactly the same rating and is calcium type battery critical? I believe Varta do a Blue and Silver range and Bosch do a Silver range, but havent a clue if they are equivalent to calcium. -
Suzuki Swift (2005 - ) - 06 1.5 Petrol leaking out of the filler cap 14 Jul 2009 (Forum)
They say they have never seen anything like this before and are saying that it could take a few days to diagnose what is causing the problem. I have to drop it off with a full tank and that they would probably use a great deal of it in determining what is wrong. I still have ten days left of the Suzuki warranty but I am posting on here for advice as I have phoned around a number of garages and none seem to have a clue what it could be, and I am worried that I may have to pay labour charges if they can't find what is causing the problem. -
Any CR-V owners / feedback? 22 May 2007 (Forum)
(I want to keep the mpv / high seating position). I am a bit wary of keeping the Scenic as it will be out of warranty and with all the electric gizmos it has as well as the EGR problems it can have (mine has been used for a lot of stop/start journeys which has potential for trouble) Any CR-V owners out there with any feedback / thoughts on the matter? -
Vectra vs Mondeo 30 Mar 2005 (Forum)
I've always preferred Fords over Vauxhall (for no real logical reason) but these seem such a good deal I'm seriously tempted, but something is holding me back. Here's the pros & cons as I see it over the 01'Mondeo 2.0 Ghia I want:- Pros 17 months warranty remaining Considerably younger, lower mileage car Lower insurance costs (group 7 vs 10) Better fuel economy? Cons Lack of grunt from 1.8? Not as much fun through the corners Fewer toys to play with (though it does have cruise over the M) 1st service not yet been performed so due imminently Help I can't decide what to do! -
