  I called the fire brigade but by this time the vehicle was a burnt out wreck. Because the exact cause can't be proven due to severe fire damage Volkswagen are refusing to replace the car. The overwhelming cause is likely to be a mechanical fault (according to insurance engineer) and therefore VW should honour their warranty (I am a previous owner of 8 VW's).
