Detecting stolen cars. 17 Jul 2007 (Forum)
The equipment used in tracing these stolen cars seemed to be very low technology and, if I am not mistaken was achieved by plod driving around and listening to a radio signal getting louder as they got closer to the stolen vehicle. Surely with modern technology the police could be directed to the stolen car much the same way as we find our way around using satellite navigation. -
Ipod cable help please 24 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I'm looking for a cable that I can connect to my Ipod that will charge the ipod AND also give me a 3.5mm output from the Ipod to plug into my 'Aux in' on my car. IE, the cable needs to charge the ipod AND also carry a signal from the Ipod to the car radio via it's 'Aux In'. I assume that the 'charge' part of the cable will be in the form of a cigarette adaptor. I would really like to hard wire this into the car rather than be permantely in the cigarette lighter if possible. -
Dunwoody 16 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I bet many folks heard Ms Dunwoody on the radio today saying motorists felt persecuted but really we are a privileged lot who get motoring on the cheap. Mr Brown is apparently our champion who taxes us lightly etc etc. We should use public transport more often etc etc. -
Peugeot 306 does not start - immobllised 16 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Bigger problem is the car does not start. There is power to the car as I can open the windows & the radio works. The red flashing light on the dashboard no longer flashes or is lit at all. It is like the car has immobillised itself. Have tried jump starting the car no luck. Any ideas welcome. -
Honda Civic heatshield 19 Apr 2006 (Forum)
He said he couldn't do anything because a repair required specialist welding, so unless I wanted to shell out just live with it and turn the radio up. Had conflicting conversations about a cost-effective fix, so any suggestions? -
Ford Fiesta - Battery Power Loss 7 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Hope someone can help My wifes aging fiesta is suffering from all sorts of problems, however, this morning, driving along there seemed to be a lack of battery power (although the car started first time). At one point, the radio turned off, the blower worked at half speed and the internal and external lights were all very dim. After about 90 seconds, it reverted back to normal. We also get a screeching noise (alternator?) -
BBC1 - Traffic Cops 2 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Did anyone else spot the officer wasn't wearing his seat belt during the pursuit, as well as loads of one handed driving because of having to operate his 2 way radio? Obviously driving one handed is commonplace as has been discussed before, but why no seatbelt? -
Is there a faster way to lose money? 24 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Just been listening to a very interesting radio programme featuring a car valuation expert. A chap just enquired on the value of an immaculate '04 Lexus GS430 sport? with 12k on the clock and fully loaded. IIRC he paid £42k for it about 10 months ago and today's valuation is..... ..... £26k!!!! -
fitting a CD player, any hope? 22 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Hi, I've got a Renault BERLINGO van (P reg). I want to fit a CD player. However the radio/tape player is in built and made by Renault. It also linked up to a security code that you have to type in to be able to start the engine. Anyone think that I have a chance in hell in buying and get a engineer to fit a CD player? -

Attention all road anoraks! 14 May 2004 (Forum)
Radio 4 next Tuesday (11th May) at 9.30am : Routemasters: "A celebration of some of our most familiar, yet unrecognised, design classics: the road sign, the white line, the roundabout, the green man, and the traffic calmer. -
I have a question volume 41 11 May 2004 (Forum)
I have just moved into a house with the luxury of electrically operated garage doors. Sadly, not remote control from the car but there are a couple of boxes that look like radio receivers so maybe in the future. Anyway, one of the doors has a problem. When I press the button to close the door it moves down into the closed position OK but then instantly opens again. The button to operate it is asimple bell-push type: one press to open, another to close. -
PUG 206 Diesel Left wheel grinding... 18 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hello Folks, When I let the car cruise (at low speeds), not accelerating, no radio etc there is a grinding noise from the left (passanger side wheel). I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the brake pads and the discs (which I found rather surprising as the car has only 12,000 on the clock). -
airbag worry 12 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Thing is, I've never had an airbag car before and the (American) Haynes manual says the airbag must be disabled before doing anything to the radio. 1 - is that right? 2 - Is there any way of getting round the code problem for the Bluespot, just in case I panic and decide to put it back together as it is? -
Cause of accidents... 22 Aug 2002 (Forum)
On the radio this morning, and over the last week or so, has been an advert encouraging people to take a break when they're driving to avoid getting over tired. Sensible advice. However, it also says 30% of all motorway accidents are due to someone being overtired. -
Astucia 10 May 2001 (Forum)
Yet what they do not say on the website is they are developing a road stud which looks like any other, yet can measure speed, contains a camera, and can communicate via radio to the "road authorities" ie police. -
Ford Focus mk1 - Speedo jumping and abs light on 9 Jul 2020 (Forum)
Took the car a run and abs light went off but Speedo kept jumping. Then when I switched my headlights on the radio turned off. When I tried to get it to do it again it the lights came on and the radio stayed on. Sorry for rambling but anyone have any ideas? I’m planning on buying a new car anyway but I still need to keep this running for a couple of months. -
Peugeot 207 1.4 diesel 3door - Peugeot 207 1.4 diesel Electrcal problems?? 17 Nov 2014 (Forum)
I turned the key fully again and the engine still wouldn't turn on, all of the dashboard lights and radio were all working but I couldn't hear the starter motor trying to start the engine. I tried once more to start the engine after leaving the key out for about 10 seconds and it started finally!! ( pretty embarrassing as I was in KFC drive-thru) but when the engine started on the little display above the radio "breaks failure" came up but the breaks worked fine? -
How pleasant was plod to you? 1 Jun 2008 (Forum)
At this I was annoyed so I said I could not give an opinion as to whether the stereo had been stolen as it might just have been a radio but tuned Radio 4. Within 1 hour it was uplifted. A few years back a vandalised car was abandoned at the same point in the road - the police would not come - Council Matter!!. The Council put a label on the rear and windscreen and quoted something like 2 weeks b4 uplift as the owner had rights to the car. -
Citroen c3 picasso - Central locking causing battery drain 12 Aug 2024 (Forum)
Hello, I have identified f8 20A fuse as the culprit circuit/s causing parasitic drain of battery to the tune of 1.5A. Having pulled it the immediate problem is solved but as the radio and display are also through this I need to find out how to permanently repair the problem.im having difficulty finding wiring diagram on the Internet. Any known culprits? Is a lock or central locking module likely..
