A Grand Monday: Ford Sierra Mk1 7 Sep 2015 (News)
Controversial when new, it polarised opinion so much that even Ford’s senior management were concerned it was too avant-garde. Yet despite its humble underpinnings (live rear axle, rear-wheel-drive and Pinto engine), there’s no denying that the slippery Sierra was one of the cars that truly redefined the direction of car design. It was imitated by many and bettered by quite a few, but that doesn’t alter the fact it was the first mainstream car to properly step away from the traditional ‘three-box’ layout that had become the norm, and for that it sparked a design revolution. -
Chris Evans has a clear-out for Goodwood Revival auction 17 Aug 2015 (News)
Almost certain to achieve the highest price is Chris’ 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C, its top-end estimate of almost £3 million being aided by the sheer rarity of an alloy-bodied right-hand drive example. Cheapest car on offer is a modified Abarth-badged Fiat 126 of 1983 vintage, which is expected to fetch up to £15,000. Meanwhile, anyone interested in classic British sportsters who has around £60,000 to splash out will no doubt be tempted by the ex-police Daimler SP250 ‘Dart’ and the ’58 Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe. -

Goodbye to the tax disc 1 Oct 2014 (News)
. If you’re buying a car, however, you will need to get new vehicle tax in your name before you can legally drive it. You can tax the vehicle using the New Keeper Supplement (V5C/2) part of the V5C either online or via the DVLA’s automated phone service, which will be in operation 24 hours a day. A change of ownership part-way through any month will therefore see both the vendor and the new owner paying for VED for that month, meaning that the vehicle is effectively ‘taxed twice’. -

Curios: Triumph Lynx 9 May 2014 (News)
Could this V8 powered four-seater coupe version of the Triumph TR7 have been a sales hit, had it been launched in 1978? It certainly promised to be a great drive, even if the looks were something of an acquired taste. The sporting missed opportunity? The Triumph Lynx's non-production was one of the saddest and most significant missed opportunities posted by British Leyland during the 1970s. -

Frank and the Land Rover were soon put to work towing his daughters horse box to various events for the next four years, at this time Frank started to form an opinion as to the uniqueness of his vehicle and, in 1977, decided it was too important an asset to keep driving and UKE80 went into the shed. Occasional outings to local events and charity fund raising were all that disturbed the Land Rover for some twenty plus years. UKE 80 was put up for auction around 1999 but the early days of on-line auctions proved fraught with difficulties and Frank decided discretion was the better approach and the shed beckoned for the next decade. -

Van Values Increased in February 28 Mar 2010 (News)
” Ward continued “There is obviously increasing confidence in the small business sector which drives the demand in the used van market. That demand is outstripping supply and keeping prices firm. And we better get used to it, because there is no indication volumes are going to rise much in 2010, and a third continued year of lower new van sales will mean we will have fewer used vans available to the market for some time to come.
