Ford Mondeo - Purchase nightmare! 28 May 2015 (Forum)
Understandably as he was still within the 14 day cooling off period my friend decided he wanted out at this point and contacted the finance company credit4cars to cancel the agreement. No response and so he left a message and sent an email to both them and the ‘we sell car finance company’. This is the point at which I arrived for the weekend. -
Rethinking PCP's. 15 Aug 2017 (Forum)
Now I'll hear people say that the term is longer and they'll only want to keep the car for 4yrs but with the personal loan there's less left on it after 4yrs than there is on the PCP meaning you can sell/trade-in the car and have more money for your next deposit or she could keep it and continue to pay the monthly amount. Either way it's a huge saving. PCP's and dealer finance only work when there's a manufacturer subsidy in place. A zero percent deal or ultra low APR deal but even then you've got to watch you're not overpaying for the car itself with discounts often cut or unavailable if you take the subsidised finance. -

Where is PG these days ? Has she developed into a figure in finance ? I saw an Audi sports car with the interlocked rings of the logo on the bonnet decorated with diamantés. It looked quite twee. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - DVLA Scrapped my car - HELP! 5 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I contact the DVLA impound where an employee ensures me that if I am handing the car back to the finance company they would deal with it, contact the finance company and sort the whole matter out. I had paid the impound fee and the tax expiration fee also and therefore the only question I repetitively asked was ? -
Big Car Crash Coming ? 20 Jul 2017 (Forum)
In this Daily Mail 'This is Money' forum post (yesterday) on car financing: http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-4664356/Has-Bank-England-s-squeeze-easy-credit-started.html#ixzz4lxEgKs3L A 'Sally' from London makes this interesting comment: "With car finance, how does the second hand market work, say if you "rent" a new car for 2 years at say £222 pcm with an up front payment of say £1,000 which is about £6328 then after the 2 years are up if you then take that off the price of the car new what price does the car need to be sold at second hand to still make money for the dealer that bought it from the manufacturer"? -
Advice please! 26 Feb 2013 (Forum)
However, I don't know which option to take: I have the funds ready (spending upto £14k) - so should I just buy the car outright? Or the 2nd option is to Finance it on a Personal contract purchase. But I don't think it's sensible to pay interest if I already have the funds, and dealers only provide 0% finance on new cars. What option would you take and why? -
HPI your own car - good bet ? 15 Jul 2009 (Forum)
So imagine my surprise when I took it for a speculative price to a VW dealer who said they'd buy it but that it had come up as having unresolved finance on a HPI check. The print out showed her plate against a VW Bora of the same age. Mistake at the finance company. Took a few phone calls but got it sorted - I've since learnt that this is by no means unique. -
Did we do okay? 30 Jul 2008 (Forum)
State blue metallic, 64k miles, one owner, FSH, no PAS. £1735 trade in price. Cost to change: £7425. Finance at 8.9% APR, a personal loan, not HP on the car. Could have been better but my parents preferred to deal with an IFA whom they know, rather than go directly to the finance company. -

Nissan Qashqai - Cancelling a potential pcp? 30 Mar 2022 (Forum)
The sales person managed to somehow sway me with the sales pitch and I went for a PCP. I left a small deposit of £250 and was told a credit check would be done by an external finance company. I was also reassured their terms were better than the company I was pre approved for. Well I get home and check wll paper work, turns out the total overs charge will be over £1000 more than my finance provider. -
Legal advice needed on returning a car 24 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Since the purchase initiated over the phone and a deposit to buy was done over bank transfer was I able to hand the car back in over the cooling off period? Was I miss sold the finance? Finance Rate: I have this written down to be fixed rate 6.3% however all documents show APR 12.8% and Effective Interest Rate (fixed) 12.4% per annum. -
High mileage & a recent revelation 21 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Peversly though it'll be me that drives since she simply walks to work whilst I now do an average of 35,000 miles a year thanks to my new job (hence the purchase of a car back in March that was much more fuel efficient, 2010 Seat Ibiza Ecomotive, i've now done 10k allready. We have no finance, it was bough outright). So i;ve been having a look about and the main issue I'm seeing is mileage, most finance offers seem to only go up to 10k per annum before sticking you with a charge per mile after. -
MG4 - Pcp 2 Feb 2025 (Forum)
I have a personal plate. If I pop it onto a retention cert. Does it cause a problem if I finance a car but put my plate on it? Via the dealer of course. -
Worn brakes on car just bought 22 Apr 2007 (Forum)
He tried very hard to sell them an expensive warranty, the usual hard sell, which I persuaded them to resist. It would not cover brakes I would imagine. I pointed out to the seller, the finance man referred to by daughter as the slimy pink fluffy dice , that he could not deny buyers their rights under Sale Of Goods Acts, and he became rather evasive. That was when they bought it., though without extra hundreds of pounds worth of warranty, finance, finance protection, MOT insurance etc.
