Driving USA 26 Aug 2007 (Forum)
There were some major road works going on in the area that we stayed in but these were carried out at night, probably because of the stifling daytime heat as opposed to helping traffic flow. At each junction on the dual carriageway that leaded to our resort there was a worker controlling traffic and these were interspersed with big police cruisers. A really good idea was the doubling of speeding fines when workers were present and speed sensors showing your current speed (there should have been more). -
Honda CBR600F - charging problems? 26 Sep 2006 (Forum)
He called me to say it had cut out again, and sure enough the battery was dead (the bike had been idling for a couple of minutes at a set of lights). Again, we connected a set of jump leads, the bike fired up instantly, and all seemed to be well. I left the bike in my garage overnight connected to an Optimate III. This showed the battery as being discharged but recoverable, and the lights all went green after about an hour and a half. -
How to Stop children using the bus 16 Dec 2003 (Forum)
After three years, the government will review the results of the pilot, and some people believe it may lead to all local authorities being ordered to follow suit. At the moment, free school buses cost local authorities millions of pounds. Part of the thinking behind the new plans is to get parents who can afford it to pay for their children to make their own way to and from school. -

nissan micra s auto 2001 - advice on what to get sorted? 23 Nov 2024 (Forum)
In the same sense, I also noticed that in the cold weather it feels super heavy even when fully warm - around 30 mins of pure driving (We've had snow and only -1c to -3c temps) which is leading me to believe it could benefit from new spark plugs too. At low speeds I can really feel the gear changes but only when it's changing gear from 20mph and under. This frankly terrifies me because I've heard baaaad things about CVT gearboxes but then I've heard that a lot of people tend to not think to change the fluid, making them go bad prematurely. -
Any - Does Start/Stop Technology Really Save any Money? 23 Jun 2014 (Forum)
I note with some interest, that several popular leading european automobile manufacturers, such as Mercedes, VW, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia etc are making a big deal of their start/stop engine technologies and that the application of this, to something like a Honda 1.2 litre Jazz 'just' manages to move its annual VED down from around £120 to £30. -

Tucked away in the Cemetery - behind that mid 19th Century crook on the Iron gate and on the slope that leads to the small wood and pre Beeching branch line - now just a trace on the fields, except by the end of the Cemetery, where there is a secluded wooded area - home of the exceptional tree. I remember them as saplings as a child, but now one of them looks like no other in the area. -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 2003 1.2 leaking core plugs in cylinder head 2 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Three miles down the road the car starts miss-firing again and i limp home. I check under the bonnet and pull the plug leads out and vapour comes steaming out of the cylinder head top, evidently the garage was right the first time and it is a leaking core plug. I test the water and its pink in colour (the same as the coolent) plus i never used the washer jets and it hasnt rained so no other way water could get into the plug wells. -
Mazda 3 - Getting fed up with this!!! 16 Jan 2005 (Forum)
seemingly an excessive vacuum is created in the narrow pipe connected to the rocker cover which draws oil into the pipe leading to the air flow meter and knackers it. They could not explain the association with the temperature always reading cold, so they replaced the sender unit anyway, and explained the glow plug light was just a warning which the handbook states refer to the dealer. -
VIRGIN CARS: V'rg'n on the ridiculous 13 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Well that's just brilliant, considering that they'd sell it to someone else anyway, probably for a higher price due to the shorter lead time. I won't let them get away with it. Any ideas on what I should do? -
Ask Byers Part 2 28 Apr 2002 (Forum)
So we have two good questions on that, Question 1) "Why do you plan "Predict and Provide" facilities for air travel but refuse to do the same for road transport"?" Whilst on the face of it this is an excellent question I fear this will just lead to a New Labour PC reply straight from the hymn sheet about pollution, global warming, congestion, public transport is the solution. All the stuff we?ve heard before, despite the fact that perhaps these are either incorrect or currently not viable solutions. -
On-road drag racing... 26 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Leon Jagesur and a young woman, who has not been identified, were burnt beyond recognition on the M19 leading to Quarry Road early on Sunday. Police said Jagesur was racing along a section of the M19 towards the N2 when he lost control of his BMW Z3 and slid into the middle island before slamming into a bridge pillar. -

Honda PCX is from 2019 - Seeking Solutions for My Honda PCX Speedometer Cal 2 Oct 2024 (Forum)
Recently, I've noticed that it tends to show speeds that feel off, sometimes reading higher or lower than what I believe I’m actually traveling. This inconsistency can lead to anxiety about potentially exceeding speed limits or miscalculating my travel time. In my quest for solutions, I found myself inspired by the concept of a speedometer. It's not just a simple gauge; it represents a tool that provides essential feedback on our speed and performance. -
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer - A weekend test drive in a BMW 225xe plug-in hybrid 22 Jan 2017 (Forum)
Hardly any wind or road noise. I fully charged it once (via the supplied conventional 13A plug & lead), which took 3 hours. This got me from my house to the M60 motorway (10 miles) without engaging the petrol engine at all, and without trying to run economically on the various minor roads and 40mph limits. -
Vauxhall Corsa 1.3TDCI Ecoflex, 2008 - HELP!!! problems within 2 weeks of purchase!! 30 Dec 2011 (Forum)
Having had a browse through this website and google, the substantial rattle I hear in low gears and when using the clutch would suggest that these mysterious parts will need replacing sooner rather than later! 2 days after this, my INSP4 warning came back on, which is leading me to think that they never replaced the filter after all. The rattling noise is getting louder and more prolonged, and the dealership are being less than helpful about having a look at these problems. -
Credit Repair & Hire - Possible Disputes? 13 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Based upon this and the proceedings so far (i.e TP admit liability), do you reckon this case would be clear cut and should be resolved without any possible dispute i.e. hire costs etc Having read some experiences, I am obviously concerned with the route I have taken so far. I'm am regretting this and worried of the potential hassle it will lead to - Legal invovlement on disputed costs, providing financial information, justifying everything etc. This has been the 5th day of hire since last Thu, and I'm hoping repairs will be complete in the next day or so. -
Thoughts on this 80mph idea? 1 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Such as encouraging people who already far exceed the speed limit to drive faster is a bad idea. Faster speeds can lead to more accidents although research still shows that the UK's roads are among the safest in Europe. However it also shows our speed limits are among the lowest in Europe too, now obviously other factor's come into accident rates but smart money says the correlation between lowest speed limits in europe and safest roads in europe is not a coincidence or an accident.
