  • Golf GTE and others - Power train options excluding diesel 1 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Already I know my next car just cannot be a diesel, it could be a light efficient petrol in a smallish car , but something mid sized, or even a medium sized estate car is probably what I need.  I did look at a Volkswagen Tiguan 1.4tsi petrol but was quoted nearly a year delivery time.  Today I went to the VW website looking for the hybrid golf... (the GTE), oh dear again, they aren't even offering it.  Barely a few months after it's launch it has been withdrawn, http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/new/golf-vii-pa/explore/gte Its all very well advertising the product, whether it's lightweight efficient turbo charged petrol, or hybrid, but if you can't deliver you are misleading the market about your green credentials (VW?

  • `Luxury bloat` small cars, to efficiency priority? 2 May 2008 (Forum)
What happens to manufacturers who have not gone down this engine development path and find their cars around 30mpg less fuel efficient? Volkswagen with a diesel twin cylinder in the forthcoming UP would seem the one to watch. engine in the back, so no excuse for not having a really slippery front end, although It must have air intakes somewhere for that rear mounted engine.

  • All, not just VW - Dieselgate, latest reports 1 Nov 2016 (Forum)
According to this report, that stance is now being challenged. Report conclusion Para 3.8, page 29 12 months ago, Volkswagen claimed the cheating of emissions tests in the US was perpetrated by a handful of rogue engineers. We now know it is an endemic problem throughout the automotive industry with defeat devices systematically installed by VW Group on 11 million vehicles globally and cheating of tests by other companies exposed in Japan29 and South Korea.
  • VW - VW Emissions Scandal 30 Sep 2016 (Forum)
I quote from the letter: ‘…...able to carry out the technical measures relating to the NOx emissions issue affecting your Volkswagen vehicle.’ ‘…..the measure will involve a software update to the engine management system.’...there will be no change to your vehicle’s engine performance, maximum torque or noise levels.

I once saw on a motorway, one road above us and another much higher crossing above  that, above fields I saw newish European cars parked by fields while owners toiled   Volkswagen sell a saloon called a Magotan... Shanghai has no pedestrian river crossings at all in the main bit , so pedestrians cannot cross between the Bund and the CBD.
  • 1993 Polo starting problems 18 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Hi all, I have been trying in desperation for a while to find out the source of the problem on my car, but so far, to no avail, so I was hoping you could help. Its a bit of a long story, but bear with me. The car in question is a 1993 Volkswagen Polo Genesis 1043cc (AAU) with Bosch single point injection. I can get in the car in the morning, no matter what the weather or temperature and it will start first time every time, and run smoothly and cleanly.
  • Appeal for help... 14 Aug 2004 (Forum)
At about 8pm the victim received a call on his mobile phone from one of the men and as he was speaking, saw his Mercedes being reversed out of the drive by the other man. The car made off and the victim saw a blue Volkswagen Golf being driven erratically by the second thief. The victim leapt into his wife\'s car, a black Saab estate, and chased his stolen Mercedes along College Road. As it drew up at traffic lights at the junction with Longdown Lane North he tried to box it in, but the thief drove straight at the Saab, pushing it out of the way and causing major damage to both vehicles.
  • maybach, daimler ag, mercedes-benz, landulet - Mercedes officially stopping Maybach luxury collec 24 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Revived many times In the 1990s, all three major German automakers decided to create super-luxury lines, using respected names from the past. Volkswagen revived the Bentley, BMW acquired Rolls-Royce, and Mercedes took on the even more-distant Maybach collection. However, the limo-like super-luxury sedans never took off for any car maker in a way that was hoped for.
  • Rust retrospectively, predicting future 5 Mar 2007 (Forum)
and most modern young drivers will never have. But how do you predict the future for buying as rustproof a car as possible, when a Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz can rust faster than a Peugot and Fiat in the modern era? Lets narrow it down a bit to where it really matters, an old boy buying his last new ( retirement) car for under £8,000.
  • Old vw beetle for potential restore. 9 Dec 2003 (Forum)
All, I\'ve just posted in another thread and reminded myself of something I was wondering a while back. I\'ve got an old (1970 - worst year for rust apparently) Volkswagen Beetle sitting on my parent\'s driveway and rusting away. I\'d like to restore it but I haven\'t the first clue how to go about it. In the meantime I\'d like to make sure it has the best possible chance of survival - does anyone have any tips to belatedly prolong its life?
