• Mazda 3 - mazda 3 1.6 diesel oil temp minus 40? 1 Nov 2019 (Forum)
  I have managed to do a manual re-gen and clear the DPF out, the problem i am having is that the oil temp is saying minus 40. i think that because the ECU is getting the reading of minus 40 degrees the DPF will not re-generate its self. my first thought was that the oil temp gauge was faulty, but i cant seem to find where the oil temp gauge is. i thought it may have been in the oil pressure switch but that only has one wire from it which i think just tells the computer weather the switch is on or off. does anyone know where the oil temperature reading comes from? its a 2006 mazda 3 1.6 diesel. since changing the air flow sensor and cleaning the egr valve out and doing the DPF re-gen it is running alot better and the turbo is engaging as it should. i just dont want the DPF to clog up again so want to get this oil temp reading sorted.

  While looking at 10 year old used Mazda 6s, I noticed that the 2.0 versions and the 2.5 versions are available at similar prices. Can folks who have driven the 2.5 version give me your thoughts on it? I test drove a version with the 2.5 engine.

  I have read that the Mazda diesel engines are not so reliable. Having problems such as cam chain snapping off, DPF issues, clogged oil strainer, oil dilution and a few more. The reason why I still contemplate the diesel engine is, that the 2.5 seems rather low on torque.

  Recently bought an 2004 mazda 6 diesel estate with 50k miles on the clock. Been very pleased with it, but have noticed that it sometimes kicks out a large cloud of grey smoke on start up. This seems to normally happen when it has been parked facing down hill, and not only after a long rest; today it happened after the car had only been left for 2 hours - hardly long enough to cool down fully.

• Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 05 2.0 Engine cut out 10 Nov 2009 (Forum)
  Can anyone help here.... I am finding that i start my mazda 6 diesel estate in the morning and then within a few hundred yards - it cuts out when you take you foot off the accelerator pedal. The fuel sediment light comes on. Once restarted, it normally behaves fine and there is plenty of pull in the car etc....the problem seems to be when the engine is cold only and its guarenteed to cut out probably once everytime.

  The next day it was fine. I have had it taken back to the Mazda garage where it was serviced, as I was so annoyed the service cost so much yet there was obviously something wrong. After keeping it all day they charged me £85 for "diagnosing" that it "probably was the coil pack".
