basically the dim/dip isnt bright enough..sides and main are fine only 5 volts going to dim/dip wiring but I think this is normal as there is an automatic switch somewhere that increases this when dim/dip is on but seems switch may be faulty and not increasin load meanin lights stay dim......??? hmmm s
  • What defines a 'modern classic'? 3 Sep 2007 (Forum)
No doubt it's a very subjective matter, but I'd propose that the following do fit the bill: Rover SD1 'Twin Plenum' Vitesse Alfa Romeo GTV6 BMW 635CSi (the 80's type) Audi Quattro whilst these do not: Rover SD1 2000 ('O'-series engine) Alfa 6 BMW 850 Audi V8
  • Kia Opirus 9 Jul 2007 (Forum)
The BiL had hired 4 cars for the wedding transport, all were newish Kias. 2 were Sorentos ideal for the roads here & the others were Kia Opirus, which I'd never heard of! It's a big saloon looking vaguely Merc or S-Type.Interior is quite nice, not as much dead cow skin as my S-Type but nicely screwed together with lots of real tree wood & the leather looking as synthetic as any far eastern car. Full dual climate control, 6 disc CD & tape, with Infinity brand speakers & music.
  • 307 Diesel - Under Bonnet Fire 25 Apr 2007 (Forum)
However the dealer has said that 307's do have a tendancy to catch fire in the fuse box or if an electrical connector near the power steering pump gets wet. Surely if there is a known problem with an connector getting wet and casusing a fire this should warrant a recall?
  • Sunblinds for rear doors. 13 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Hi, I have a Ford S-Max and now that the sun has arrived i really need some sunblinds for the reardoors to stop the sun going in my babies eyes and to keep her cool. The problem I have is that the door windows are HUGE on the S-Max and a standard sunbline covers only about 1/3 of the window!!!

  • Colt vs Yaris - reassurance needed! 16 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Trouble is, turns out my wife had decided (but not told us) that she thought Yaris T3 would be a better bet. The unknown nature of the Colt (there really aren?t many around here) plus the Yaris T3?s nine! airbags were significant factors in her mind. OK, you?re looking at more like 10 grand than seven and a half (which is significant to my daughter but neither here nor there in my wife?s mind) but I?

  • 'Metal' interiors 21 Feb 2005 (Forum)
My nephew has the same model, same year, same specs, same Turkish wonder (though with an autobox ? that?s the only difference) and... green ?strips? around not only ?B?, but also ?A? pillars. People do notice such things. It?s OK in cheap cars, but not in expensive ones. Looks nasty especially when in contrast with bright body colours, like red or yellow.

  • Classic bad driving 15 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Lorry 1 decides to oevrtake lorry 2 , comes out without signal into path of CRV, gap between them is now about 20 yards at 60-70 mph .CRV hasn\'t anticipated this move, is spooked by lorry 1\'s move , so goes to lane 3, without signal . In lane 3 is a very fast-moving BMW which manages to brake in time . Lorry 2 turns off at the exit, not having signalled in advance , so lorry 1\'s manoeouvre unnecessary - he reverts to lane 1 .

  • Dispute with friend oPorsche 924 engine! 14 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Don't you just hate it when somebody thinks that they know everything there is to know, or at least more than the layman, about a subject, just because they work in a related field? I've had an arguement with a friend who doesn't know the first thing about Porsches of the 70's and 80's, about the engine of the much maligned 924. As us back roomers know, it is a direct transplant of the VW lt van engine, however as my friend works (selling advertising) for a small specialist motorsports magazine, he thinks he by right knows better than me...
  • Rover 400 / Honda Civic 5 Door Headlight 16 Dec 2003 (Forum)
The works pool car is a P Reg 416i, which will happily much its way through 3-4 bulbs a year. My Civic VTI has used 3 in 9 months of ownership and the driver?s side has just gone again. My brothers N Reg 416Si is already on its first replacement bulb and he?s only had it 3 weeks!! Look on the road and you see loads of 400s and Civics with blown bulbs. The only thing I have come across like this is Vauxhalls and their hunger for dash and heater control bulbs.
  • MX 5 Information 10 Dec 2003 (Forum)
I've just bought a 1994 MX5 1.8 S. It's a UK car and seems pretty decent with a couple of dings but nothing major. I recall reading that the 1.6 engine is 'no-contact' on cam belt breakage. Is the 1.8 also a no piston to valve contact engine in the event of a cam-belt failure?
  • Thank goodness for 3-year guarantees 4 Nov 2003 (Forum)
What a waste and what a cost - luckily I\'ve still got 6 months of the warranty left otherwise I\'d have been tempted to find a local blacksmith\'s shop. Terry
  • Is it terminal? Carlton Rear Diff. 14 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I quickly refilled with EP 90 (the official recommendation). It then reverted back to my regular \'shusshing\'. Regards to all Bob P.S. There\'s no \'play\' either vertically or horizontally in the prop shaft or axles so i guess this rules out bearings?
