  • What search radius for a car? 11 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I'm soon likely to get pestered into looking for a car for my 18 year-old son (not a simple task!), so have been perusing the Autotrader website for a few ideas. I've always put 'national' in the search distance - usually being willing to travel pretty far to view the right car - which made me wonder how far other Backroomers would normally limit their search......
  • Cars parked everywhere,frustrating... 2 Feb 2010 (Forum)
I am on the road everyday in my line of work ,and get annoyed by the seemingly endless stream of parked cars on a lot of roads, which means i am forever stopping for oncoming traffic,we have an old chap who parks his car on the road outside his house on the corner as you turn in to the estate from the main road and have seen people nearly drive in to it many times, still its up to him and just one of the frustrating things about driving, one of the reasons i wanted an auto.

  • Ideas for first car? 1 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Am about to start learning to drive and realise that it would probably be a good idea to get a car seeing as my parents only own automatics. What is a good car to get for around 2 - 3k? Wouldn't want it to be particularly old because I will probably drive to school (30 miles there and back) and around quite a lot so I want something reliable and solid.
  • Tax disk from previous car! Help! 13 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, I traded my old car in in April which was on it's last legs. I just got through a letter from DVLA stating that I owed them £19 + a £40 admin fee for the car's tax disk as I am still the legal owner, even though I got a form from the VW dealership at the time stating the opposite.
  • Getting RAC Inspection - advice 25 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Do you think they would refund the deposit on the car? It would be from a main dealer on a car less then 2 years old. Would like to hear from anyone who has used RAC or AA for inspection, I'm not a member of either. Thanks
  • Lost car key 1 May 2005 (Forum)
My car keys has been stolen last week and I have not got a spare for it. I have asked AA to open tht door lock for me and I have the key for the ignition (it is different from the door key), and have left the door unlock so I can get access to the car and drive it.
  • Car warranties - worth it? 15 Dec 2004 (Forum)
My main worry is that the autobox will fail and I'll be left with a massive bill (that happened to me on my previous car and I was forced to sell it). Anyone got any thoughts? for background info the car has 45k on the clock and I do between 12 and 15k a year in it.
  • Further to Insuring a Fictional Car 11 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Hi, Further to my post about insuring a fictional car. I've given up on that idea now. When I left my old insurer (about 4 years ago) I had full NCB. I've since been driving a company van for the past few years with just one recent claim, a scratch on a neighbours car door parked on the driveway.
  • Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost 125bhp - Focus 1.0 Ecoboost Problems 31 Aug 2013 (Forum)
It took them 2 weeks just to look at my car, they told me they could find any fault and were sending if off to an engine specialist, after a couple of days they told me Ford had authorised a new engine. My old engine was only 11 months old with 10,000 miles on the clock, and never been raced, has anybody heard of similar problems with this engine ?
  • Sick Alfa 156 2.0 TS Man 9 Apr 2002 (Forum)

  • Hyundai i20 (2009) - new car purchase - am I being unrealistic? 28 May 2009 (Forum)
Hi all Buying a new i20 for SWMBO under the scrappage scheme. Getting a very good deal at £2,400 off list price. I ordered the car at the end of April and we went to the garage today to provide the evidence they need for the old car - aiming to pick up the new car end of this week. Anyway, as they want a banker's draft several days before delivery, I thought it not unreasonable to see our new car in advance - to check for marks, dents etc.

I've googled them and I see articles have been done on them in honest john and the telegraph but these are both quite old. Most reviews on forums are quite old too. • Ford Fiesta Flight 1.3 R Reg second hand fuel pump 29 Sep 2010 (Forum)
My car refused to start and the AA diagnosed a shorted turn fuel pump. Garage wants £552.25 for a new one. excluding labour. Outrageous for a 13yr old car. I can't afford to replace the car nor pay silly money for a pump.
  • Ford Focus - Hardly any fresh air 21 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Just aquired a 2004 Ford Focus before that I had an old N reg Micra My question relates to the fresh air intake on the car. When driving there never seems to be all that much fresh air entering the cabin. The car soon feels a bit stuffy until I turn on the blower then I get plenty of fresh air.
  • Citroen Synergie (1995 - 2002) - 2000 2.0 engine undertray fell off - replace? 16 Dec 2008 (Forum)
My Citroen Synergie HDi has thrown it's under engine tray (plastic) on the M5, and I'm half thinking "Is it actually worth replacing?" Does anyone have an opinion on these strange and wobbly bits of plastic under our cars? Are they vital? Love the car though, superb old bus. If you lot think I need one, so be it.
