  Obviously I've got no proof but I can't help but feel cheated, particularly as we've had to pay for two lots of coolant! Am I right to go in all guns blazing and try and seek some money back (afterall we aren't likely to be using them again!) or is it just one of those things? SG

  Well if thats the case did they just kind of think it would be nice to list the 528 as a W or was there some serious technical input into the decision and if so the above answer is not really acceptable. I might as well downgrade the oil a bit, or dilute the coolant slightly. I know it's not a life or death difference between the two but it doesn't seem unreasonable to expect a BMW dealer to supply a car to BMW's specification. Thanks, Ian p.s according to the BMW customer service "girl" it's not alright to drive with a tyre rated above a W or to mix speed ratings on the same axis!

  It happens at random intervals, it happens more often when at 2k RPM, but it can sometimes happen when lower. and it happens more often in lower gears. I have no idea what it could be, i do remember about 2 years ago i was advised that the coolant gas needs replacing because its running low, i have no idea if this is relevant but i thought i would mention it.   Before the cold came in, I put in more antifreeze, but I suspect I didn't put enough in because after the coldest night, I started her, warmed her up, but when I'd driven about 1 mile uphill, the coolant light came on and the van was overheating badly. The new rad was put in, the garage have checked for airlocks, checked the water pump, checked the thermostat and flushed the system through - but it is still overheating very quickly.

    I have had the error codes read, and they have returned ed with the following: P0102 - Mass airflow sensor (G70): signal too low: P0102 sporadic - no fault type identified P1290 - Coolant Temp Sensor at radiator outlet (G83): signal too small - P1290 P1137 - Fuel trim: bank 1 (add): system too rich: P1137 - static - no fault type identified And P1857 - 18265 - Load signal: error message from ECU: P1857 - intermittent Also this one without error code: 01542 - Yaw rate sensor (G202)  - sporadic - implausible signal   I am assuming/hoping there's a problem which is causing a bit of a knock on effect with these codes, and hopefully one problem to fix.

    I have checked around all of the hoses and I couldn't find any obvious air leaks I have also hooked the car up to Torque, the Lambda voltage is around 0.7v (RMS I think), the coolant temp sensor seems to work ok, as does the ambient air temp sensor.   The intake air sensor gave a pretty constant reading of 30ºC, even though I would have expected it to be lower.

  Hi All, As some of you may recall I had a big problem with the car six weeks ago,the HG blew and the garage replaced it without finding the cause.One day later after collecting it from the garage it blew again ,loss of coolant and oil in reservoir ,so back to the garage it went.Two weeks later and second new HG and new oil cooler the car was back on the road and working fine. Last Sunday having had the car back from the garage for just over a week I drove to Birmingham from Northants on the motorway with no probs at all,parked the car for 8 hours and when I then tried to start it it would only turn over and was not firing.I called the ** and after a 3 and half hour wait the mech arrive and squirted Easy Start in the air intake , it started up!!

  I have gone with the replacement as a duff RNS 510 would obviously affect resale value of the car - but I feel less than happy with  VW quality and reliability  - the vehicle itself has covered only 27K miles since new but had two reasonably major issues within warranty, relating to the DPF filter and the need to replace the secondary coolant pump. Maybe I should just be "grateful" that it only cost me £550 .....
