  • How not to pass the L test 3 Aug 2003 (Forum)
He was outside the test centre with a mobile phone so he could relay the answers to each individual via their hidden earpiece. The questions remain. Why only 97% sucess rate? Why did it take so long to identify the scam.
  • best used car mag ? 9 Nov 2001 (Forum)
This mag covered every angle in the used car game, great stories about car dealers antics, mystery shoppers visiting showrooms unveiling scandulous selling scams. I'm not aware of any other used car mags on the market but it seems strange considering the used car business is far larger than the new car market. Steve G

  • Any - Cracking the whiplash 18 Oct 2012 (Forum)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/insurance/motorinsurance/9609751/Fewer-car-crashes-but-more-whiplash-claims.html We all knew this to be true, but the the scale of the scam is still quite shocking. "Police figures show a 20rise in 3rd party injury claims% fall in the number of accidents involving injuries since 2006, while there has been a 40% " and "the average 3rd party claim now stands at £8400 suggesting that most claim s are for whiplash-like injuries" Surely, it is now time for whiplash to be declared an Act of God, since, like God, whiplash is an intangible entity whose existence cannot be proved?
  • Dodgy dealers 14 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Looks like the "excellent customer service" isn't perhaps as good as claimed then ... Any other stories of scams ? This is my first new car purchase and I've been a little surprised by a couple of the antics.
  • Tyre centre scam? Nah, just a co-incidence guv 22 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Well, with 27,000 miles up on me Vectra (and look peops, despite what our good friend HJ says, I actually quite like it - value for money and all that)...
  • Servicing Scam 27 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I was more astounded to find out that a friend who also bought her car from the same dealer at around the same time (who didn't allow herself to get roped into this scam), had her 'long life' service facility disabled by the dealer, meaning she would have to go and have her car serviced annually (long life oil or not) !!! It would appear to me that the dealer is using the good technology that has been developed by VW (which should be of benerfit to the buyer) to make considerable amounts of money off trusting customers like myself.
  • Where to buy used cars nowadays? 5 Jul 2024 (Forum)
Autotrader - usually overpriced by private sellers and salesman if you do see a bargain it’s with a garage with terrible or no reviews in some dodgy area Gumtree - see autotrader and doesn’t seem to be as popular as it used to be for used cars Facebook marketplace - everyone knows about this one. Mostly scams. The odd genuine seller but have to be extremely careful and wade through loads of r******. Shpock - seems less scammy than Facebook but not a huge amount listed. Does everyone tend to scan all of these sites hoping to find a gem or do you tend to go to a known dealer you trust and pay the premium for it?
  • Italian Traffic Violation 5 Oct 2020 (Forum)
I wasn't aware of driving anywhere prohibited, but may have done so in error. My questions are: Scam or genuine? (It's printed on plain copying paper) Any risk if I pay by bank transfer? Why has it taken 5 months and do I therefore have a getout? Thanks Peter PS It came a week after a £50 for sitting in a box junction so I'm feeling a bit miffed!
  • Honest John’s Motoring Agony Column 09-12-2017 Part 2 11 Dec 2017 (Forum)
Remember the Nissan (Datsun) franchise owner in the UK walked away from customers of failed dealers in the '80s. It all sounds like a scam to me!
  • Got Civil Parking Notice 7 Mar 2016 (Forum)
I went back look at that road where I have park before there is no white or yellow line on road and no sign on every lamp post but the only one sign was on pole up to a 8 foot high on very sharp bent on junction that everyone can missed it. My friend said ticket type Civil parking notice is cowboy and scam I should be ignore it, but before I decide to ignore I want like advice if I should or should not ignore before I end up mind go to court.
  • All - Crash for cash 20 Aug 2013 (Forum)
I recently read that the crash for cash fraudsters have come up,with new scam, flash and crash. Unsuspecting drivers are targeted by by crooked drivers flashing them at junctions, car park or petrol station exits, to proceed only to then speed up and crash into them. Without an independent witness, that actually saw the crook flash their lights, it becomes the standard he said, she said scenario.
  • Ford Fiesta - Drive Assist claiming damage to loan car. 24 Nov 2012 (Forum)
It didn't look like a new scratch to me and I took a clear close up photo, and wrote on his PDA that we disputed the damage ( my daughter was at uni and thus not present). Somehow I wasn't in the least surprised, I suspect this is a nice little scam charging for old damge, but wondered if anyone else has successfully fought such a charge.
  • 57 plate Golf GT TDI 170 - Time for a cambelt change? 19 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I was surprised and said the cars only done 35k, surely its good until 70k.  Comments/thoughts please, is this just a VW scam wanting people to spend money.  To top it all they ended the conversation with 'is there anything else we can help you with', I said I never wanted any 'help' from them in the first place, it was them that rang me!
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee - winter tyres all year round on a 4X4? 15 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I can't afford to buy a set of four extra wheels/tyres, especially after paying the monstrous road tax that's been imposed in the name of the biggest scam in the history of civilisation, namely man-made climate change.
  • Number plate mystery 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
The motoring link here is this, the daughter, Lorraine B**** ran an Audi TT with the number plate LOZZIE B..now I've racked the old brain cells and havn't come up with anything that might make this up...I tried a tenuous Irish LOZ 2138 but that doesn't come up on DVLA vehicle check. Any ideas ? Mind you, how stupid can you be ? If you're running a huge criminal scam, why pick a number which is going to alert every patrol car and anpr camera in the country ? Ted

Either letter will alleged that traffic offences have been committed in Spain by your goodself for which there is an outstanding fine of 108 Euro's (72 quid) which should be forwarded.
