  • BMW 5-Series E39 (1996 - 2003) - 523i Automatic - Gear stick stuck in Park. 9 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I took the dash clocks out to change the bulb yesterday and put it back, when I put it back, the car starts ok and all fine but the gearstick won't come out of park. I thought it was to do with the brake pedal sensor but when I press the brake pedal I can still hear a little clicking noise under the gear lever. I think it's to do with the ignition - you cannot get out of park until the ignition is on, so maybe the gearbox is not sensing the ignition??
  • Inconsiderate parking 12 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Is it an offence to paint lines on the road, and if so what would be the likely penalty ~ a fine, payment of cost of removal by the authorities etc.? -- L\'escargot by name, but not by nature.
  • Its OK,we can walk to the kerb from here 14 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Parking more than 50cm from the kerb, as it was widely reported today, could soon result in a fine! - due to one of the new measures announced to keep the traffic moving.
  • Back to Motoring (sort of...) 11 Jan 2002 (Forum)
He returned to his vehicle 17 minutes later to find a parking attendant putting a ticket on his windscreen. In a burst of quick-thinking, Fernandez took photographs of the meter showing the remaining time, and the warden issuing the ticket. An independent parking adjudicator ruled the fine should not stand.

  • All makes, all models - Coved-19, Overstaying parking limits in managed ca 9 Jun 2020 (Forum)
I had the misfortune to visit a large diy store last weekend, parked and walked over to join the very long queue. I would have turned around, walked back to the car and left but my wife insisted in joining the queue. 50 minutes later, we got into the shop. Whilst in the queue, I saw signs stating that the car park is managed by a parking management company and any stay over 2 hours would be subject to a fine.
  • debt and ccj's-mainly parking 16 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Just read an article that reports hundreds of ccj's being awarded without the knowledge of the so called offender. As you can guess the parking sharks are head of the queue. One man had a ccj against him for an unpaid parking invoice from Parking Eye. He had sold the car 5 years previously and had proof of this, but had moved house. He only found out about the ccj when he applied for a mortgage, and was refused.
  • Happy Christmas from Bromley Council 18 Jan 2006 (Forum)
On Xmas Eve, I received a Notice To Owner saying that on 24th November a Penalty Charge was issued as I had been allegedly involved in a parking contravention, namely failing to clearly display a valid parking ticket at my local supermarket's pay and display car park. First, that Penalty Charge was either never issued or never presented to me or left on my car.

  • Parking fine quashed 26 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Should you receive a similar ticket in the future, we may not be able to cancel.' So that's all right then, if I park my legal car with my legal badge in a legal bay then I might get a fine because some half-wit attendant thinks he has forensic training ! I've a good mind to write to the paper ! Ted Edited the original post in so as to give some context

  • Parking Firm Doctor Photo Evidence 2 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Didn't see this mentioned last month when it was in the news, but heard last night throught the Air Cadet grapevine about NCP falsifying photographic evidence in Bury in order to make an illegal £60 fine stick. Police are now looking into making criminal charges. Think the moral is to always demand to see photo evidence, no matter whether for speeding or other offences. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-974970,00.html A MOTORIST has won his appeal against a £60 parking fine after an independent adjudicator concluded that NCP, the car parking company, had faked a photograph to prove its case.
  • MkII DCi - Scenic - Parking brake fault after pads changed! 20 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Now, have a "Parking Brake Fault" warning, red stop indicator flashing on dash, parking brake lever LED flashing, and car beeps when first entering. Parking brake functioning perfectly, as always. Will hold fine on a hill, will auto-release etc, and apply automatically when engine turned off The garage took the car to main dealer, who charged £55 to hook it up to attempt to clear the indication, which they were unable to do!
  • Querying a parking ticket 1 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Hello All, I recently recieved a "You havn't paid your parking ticket, so now pay double" letter in the post. The letter claimed I had parked in a "Residents Only Bay". I wrote back to the Authority concerned and explained that I hadn't paid it because I've never received a parking ticket in the first place.

Hi My son has recently been added to my car insurance and two weeks ago he parked in a hotel car park to go to a local centre and didnt check the signs (easily visible when I went to check and loads of them and well lit).  Parking Eye signs are everywhere stating parking is for hotel clientele only and if not you will be fined £100 and there are cameras recording activity.
  • Mercedes e320 - PCN notice 9 Oct 2012 (Forum)
He got a PCN through a few days later, and there were a couple of mistakes:   1) He was given a fine for parking, where he wasnt parking just turning round.   2) The reg number of the car was right, but the make of the car was wrong, he was in a Mercedes and the make of car on the ticket was Toyota.
  • Fines for idling engines 11 Jul 2006 (Forum)
One of the councils up here are running adverts on the radio saying the usual, how bad it is for the environment etc if you leave your car engine running whilst parked up, so you will now be fined if caught doing this. But how bad exactly is it? If you are sitting stationery at side of road and a car drives past at 30mph who is polluting the most? If your car is warm surely it is more efficient and less polluting than if you switch it off and let it get cold again?
