  • Driving in France - adjusting headlights 6 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Unlike the old model, there doesn't seem to be a way to adjust the headlights on my BMW 5 series (e60) for driving on the rhs. I seem to recall reading soemwhere that it's legal to drive in Europe with std lights provided they are at lowest setting on the dash mnounted control. Anyone else heard of this or am I dreaming?
  • New Astra Driving Position 7 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I took a short spin in the new Astra at the weekend, and was very disappointed with the driving position, particularly the steering wheel which was offset 2 inches to the left, leaving me feeling a bit twisted as I was driving. Are there any new Astra owners out there, and if so are you comfortable over long journeys?
  • Driving on the Continent. 6 Apr 2002 (Forum)
In the not too distant future I would like to take the car to Europe for a short break (I need the break, not the car). Although I passed my driving test abroad, in Cyprus, I have never driven on the right hand side (Ok... except for overtaking!). Question, is there anywhere in the North West that provides instruction/experience of driving on the right?

  • Driving Test Question 18 May 2006 (Forum)
According to an email I have been sent, this question has just been added to the driving theory test. There is only one answer, do you know it? Driving Test Question You are driving along a two lane road with a NO OVERTAKING sign, and come upon a bicycle rider. Do you follow this slow-moving bicycle rider for the next 2 miles, or do you break the law and pass?
  • Drink Driving 9 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Driving home the other night, just as i passed my local at 11.15pm a man pulled out of the pub carpark right in front of me, and then proceeded to drive at a steady 15 mph for the next two miles (30 limit) before pulling into his driveway.
  • Is front wheel drive obsolete? 30 Sep 2003 (Forum)
I have a FWD car and I love my car. It is great fun to drive. But I know it would be even more fun to drive if it were rear wheel drive. Now that many cars are going AWD and most of the cars that are RWD offer traction control, is FWD a dinosaur? Why would you need FWD when you could have the same thing in RWD with TC.
  • Insurance and self driving 12 Sep 2021 (Forum)
Having just renewed my insurance policy and deciding to go with another company, I was reading my policy documents ( as I’m sure everyone on here does) when I came to a section about automated self driving cars, it says I won’t be covered if I have an accident if the car is driving itself, I don’t have a self driving car, or do I.?, my car can park itself, either reversing into a space ( used it twice) or parallel parking ( not tried it) , now I still have to use the accelerator and brake but the car does everything else, now is this classed as self driving, yes I know it’s only parking, but if I have an accident and have to claim whilst using this feature would I be covered..?
  • Unsuitable parking 31 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I live up a road where there is houses up until a certain point only up on side of the road, about 6 houses down there is now houses opposite, but a person living at the house who's right on the end of the opposite side of the road, has around 6 cars, their drive can only occupy 2 cars. The thing that has really annoyed me lately, is that their cars that they can't fit onto the drive they park opposite the drive of my house, so that it is obstructing me from getting out of my drive.
  • Any - Driving on winter tyres - what to expect? 7 Dec 2010 (Forum)
The tyre test results give useful info, but do not include a 'living with' report - for instance, will I be able to drive normally if driving on snowy road (OK perhaps not at 70 mph, say 40 - 50 mph).  In some user posts I read of driveways that become usable again, but there is more to driving than setting out from home.
