Where the hell does this wire go? Focus 24 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Decided to check all the fluid levels, top the screenwash up etc... Upon doing so, I saw a cable near the battery which doesn't connect to anything. There appear to be similar cables coming from the battery and going to the air cleaner but I can't really see where this one should go. The cable in question is covered by a hard plastic coating and has a sort of squarish connection which obviously clips onto something. -
Nissan Micra Starter Motor 27 Feb 2003 (Forum)
When it doesn't work you get a 'clicking' noise from the solenoid and vibrating sound from the internal fuse box (relays I think)and the engine doesn't turn over. With the lights on they dim when you turn the key. I've put in a new battery and I've tried 2 new starter motors/solenoids (solenoid comes attached) to no avail. I tried taking all the fuses out the various fuse boxes except the ignition switch fuse (in the fuse box in front of battery)when it wasn't working and same result (this fuse has no corrosion). -
starter motor faulty? 26 Feb 2003 (Forum)
i have astra mk2, recent problems include stalling after 10 mins drive; carbonised spark plugs; faulty battery.( sparks & battery replaced); today it wouldn't start. nor turn the engine; i checked for loose wires etc, found 1 and rewired it on the ignition switch. i eventually called in the breakdown mechs, and although they managed to start the car by short towing they warned me that starter motor is faulty and may not restart if left off overnight. can anyone advise on where i go from here and could a dodgy starter motor explain the cutting out/stalling problem mentioned earlier. how would i proceed with removing current starter motor to take to auto-sparks as haynes mentioned the procedure for 1.2cc and 16 valve 1.6cc only. how much can i expect to pay for repair/replacement etc. any and all advice on this most welcome urgently please. thanks again.... rob -
New owner problems for used cars 19 Nov 2001 (Forum)
We have another example of another car knowing when it has changed owners - it was faultless with the previous owner - but the battery now drains down overnight. I have personally inspected the car when in a flat condition and can confirm NOTHING is left on. It sounds as though the alternator is draining the battery. One question - why does it always seem to happen when the car changes hands? -
